| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 7/12/2012 12:55:19 AM | | I love the initial poem but appalled by some of the comments in this thread. Seriously are people so superficial that they would judge and tar someone just because the choice of a vehicle, or an item of clothing or the length of their hair?? Well I know the answer is yes, but it still disgusts me. | |

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 7/12/2012 5:29:23 AM | In the same sentence you said not to put all the apples in the same basket... you put a generalization on young people - I know more men in there 30's and 40's with V8s then i do people my own age because we generally can't afford them and P platers can't legally drive them.
None the less... People really don't pay attention to there mirrors, i don't think it's specifically to bike riders. I've had people merge towards me with no blinker... whilst i've been driving and riding.

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 8/28/2012 5:49:07 PM | The loud exhaust is hint enough there is someone on a bike close by. Its annoying for people in homes, but great on the road..
I agree with ^^^ High Visibility should be mandatory, It will ruin the club effect however...and dare I say it... takes away choice.. Most non club riders.. Do have decent hi vis clothes. Esp on smaller bikes, and people who just have a little 250 to get to work and back.

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 9/10/2012 2:56:54 AM | The 23-year-old Brisbane man will face the Maryborough Magistrates Court on a charge of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
His northbound Holden Commodore collided with an oncoming motorcycle about 7am on Saturday, killing the male rider and severely injuring his female passenger.
he is on bail.........dont get it at all

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 9/10/2012 4:18:38 AM | My prayers also go out to the families of anyone who gets killed on our roads.Whether they be bikers, car drivers or pedestrians.
he is on bail.........dont get it at all
What really don't you get?.What do you think the 23yo old man intentionally killed someone? Are you saying they should hang him or something? You were not there and neither was I.You are generalising by saying that drivers don't look. Was it a dull day?Did the motorcyclist have his headlight on?Did the motorcyclist have high visibilty clothing on?Or even more to the point was it an unfortunate and tragic accident? If the driver was at fault then I would expect he gets the appropriate penalty. Blaming car drivers for every unfortunate and tragic death of a motorcyclist is just non-sensical.

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 9/17/2012 3:51:47 AM | All i have been able to still find out at this time....the driver of the car was stoned & driving on the wrong side of the road. if you drive or ride, stoned, or drunk, & you kill someone .......you go to jail.....untill you go to court, then you stay there longer if everyone has done their job bail for killing someone, if your driveing, or use a gun....should never happen | |
|
| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 9/17/2012 4:19:47 AM |
bail for killing someone, if your driveing, or use a gun....should never happen Even alleged murderers get granted bail. Some concept that is supposedly written into the law "innocent until proven guilty".Bail usually comes with strict conditions. We just can't lock up everyone we think is guilty until the court case comes around. Perhaps the police could not immediately convince a judge that the driver was stoned and the judge had no option but to grant bail until the results of the saliva test were confirmed.I would hope if he is guilty he will be penalised accordingly. If he is innocent then justice has in some way prevailed by not locking him up for possibly months pending a court case.

| JUST A BIKER (but you didn't see me) Posted: 9/22/2012 7:25:46 AM | | robertaus, what difference does it make if it was a dull day,or if the headlight was on,or whether hi vis was worn or not?.....as a motorbike rider of 40 yrs and a interstate truckie of 30yrs I can tell you there is no unfortunate or tragic "accidents"on the road.....mechanical failure or driver error.....blown tyres, collapsed wheel bearings=mechanical failure.....drunk and drugged drivers=driver error.....end of story | |

robertaus, what difference does it make if it was a dull day,or if the headlight was on,or whether hi vis was worn or not?..... Might have made a lot of difference. Why won't people who ride motorbikes accept the fact that sometimes they are hard to see.Instead of blaming car drivers and saying they don't look.Read this thread and you will get the gist of that.
I can tell you there is no unfortunate or tragic "accidents"on the road.....mechanical failure or driver error.....blown tyres, collapsed wheel bearings=mechanical failure.....drunk and drugged drivers=driver error.....end of story
Are you saying that if someone dies on the road it is not unfortunate or tragic?.People make mistakes which leads to accidents. What so bikies and truckies do not make mistakes it is only drivers then.Bikes and truckies are never drunk or drugged only car drivers. Is that your implication? I've driven a car for 20 plus years so i think i am qualified to say that SOMETIMES people on motorbikes are hard to see.Car drivers are not out there trying to kill motorcyclists. But this thread alludes to that.
