Oro Valley is mostly elderly people and some-somewhat rich people. You will spend most of your day tanning, which can be induced by walking to your mail box. Down town is scary, homeless veterans, trannies, etc...and there is kinda the whole mexican gang member feel to the whole Tucson area, which is real close to Oro Valley. Only good thing is it will be nice and quite in Oro Valley.

I have lived in Scottsdale since 2000. There are those of us that are NOT snobby and stuck up. We do NOT all have fake boobs, botox and puffed up lips!

Plus with the housing market, homes are getting more affordable.

There are lots of places to eat that don't cost an arm and a leg and are not snobby, which I avoid like the plague (the snobby ones).

Desert Ridge area and north i.e Tatum Ranch area is nice.

Arrowhead on the west side is also nice.

Taking 101 around from east to west on the northside, there are lots of areas north of it that are nice and close to things.

Any one have any info on Chandler? Thinking of moving there, not sure what its like. Coming from PA and bringing a large german shepherd...anyone know how they deal with the hot weather other than staying in AC all day? I'm in the medical field and will probably be looking for just part time. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think I'm jealous, my sister and brother-in-law live in Cave Creek area (north of Phoenix) and my mother lives in Sun City which is North West of Phoenix. I'll be there in September and doing the bike ride on Sunday....maybe we can talk about Phoenix area? I don't know if I have a back seater yet? Are you going?

sadie girl ru crazy?hope u didnt move here in june, although it wasnt that bad this year.everyone usually moves in july and never goes outside again the whole summer.hot weather,it takes awhile to get used to it,your blood has to thin out and that takes years.we allstay inside until oct or so.it's brutal here, wait til the sun goes down and put your lawnchair under a big tree in your backyard and then spray the tree down with the hose and hopefully theres a breeze and for 10 minute or so it will feel kinda like san diego.not kidding! it works! I do this every weekend at nite after grilling steaks and while sipping wine. or throw some ice into the pool,I mean bags of it and mix it around.

I would take a look at Awhatukee. You are minutes from alot of great places, but far enough away to where you don't have some frat guy peeing in your bushes. You are close to south mountain, which offers alot of outdoor activities, and it's actually not a bad place to live!
