| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 9/7/2005 10:00:22 PM | Yeah, the fake porn can get me out of the mood so quickly sometimes, especially when, as a woman, I know that certain positions they do are NOT comfortable.
Nonetheless, I'm both into porn and erotica. I've got both in my collection.
I'm just sick, lol....

| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/23/2008 12:06:19 PM | | I have seen porn. Some by accident. Does'nt do much for me. Must be a guy thing. But I did read some erotica in college. A boyfreind at the time turned me onto it. The book was Delta of Venus by Anais Nin. I think I also read her book Little Sparrows too but can't remember. | |

| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/23/2008 3:50:22 PM | Well, I definately prefer erotica over porn any time! Pornography appears too mechanical, and one-dimensional. It seems devoid of any human feelings or intimacy. It seems to denigrate the body, while erotica, on the other-hand worships the body.
Erotica, especially erotic fantasies are the best, because the mind is the most powerful aphrodisiac there is. Erotic fantasy can be much more vivid then any erotic picture in my opinion. Reading about it conjures much more powerful mental images then just merely looking at it, or watching it on a video. Although that can be pleasurable as well.
Erotica is much more powerful then pornography ever will be. When sexuality is combined with body, mind, and spirit, it is very powerful.

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/23/2008 10:21:40 PM | | I consider erotica a form of art. Two people expressing their sexual pleasure in a way that is sensual, but yet uplifting and positive, not degrading like pornography. | |

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/23/2008 10:31:53 PM | | I agree that erotic writing is more imaginative, creaive and daring. think about it, most porn is the same tired stuff with cheesey music. | |

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/24/2008 3:21:04 AM | As other people have noted, porn is usually pretty mechanical and staged. I think it could probably be made just as erotic as writing, but the participants would need to really be excited. Usually, there's no kissing and very little passion, and the women are obviously just going through the motions. It always looks too happy and fun--really intense pleasure looks at lot more like agony.
Probably the writing tends to be sexier because writers don't have to make their scenes actually happen, in contrast with videos. So they just let their fantasies go wild, and then they put them down on paper. If they want a woman in a story to have an orgasm so intense she's scrunching up her brow as if suffering, feeling like she's having a minute-long seizure, and developing a red flush across her chest--they just write it that way. Unlike the director, they don't have to worry about getting some moonlighting stripper to look like she's having that same experience, when she's really thinking about which shoes she'll buy with her earnings.

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/24/2008 4:06:52 AM | | Porn is also visual... and men's sexuality is visual... like many male animals it has been programed that way my mother nature... not that some woman don't like porn.....but for men just viewing the female body/body parts or sexual acts is the primary form of arousal. | |

I don't think porn is degrading. It just appeals to a different set of senses than erotica does. Some people are visual, others are aural. Still others prefer to keep their fantasies in their minds, so they prefer erotica. Just different strokes for different folks.

I think it goes deeper than that. Most of the sex in pornography does not happen in relation to emotional experience between people. It is, in fact, nearly emotionless. Very difficult to film that aspect of sex, to find actors who can make quality porn, who can make it look real. Indeed, it is the absence of emotional content in porn that makes the consumer have to continually search for porn that is more and more explicit in order to have the same effect. It's called desensitisation. Anyone remember the days when Playboy was all anyone needed?
For many people, it is the emotions and not the body parts involved in sex that arouse. So, because erotic writing typically explores the emotional aspects of sex, it is far more appealing to people who are emotionally driven, even if they are visual. And, for many, what makes erotic writing superior to porn is the ease with which they can imagine themselves as one of the participants. Much more satisfying to imagine the self in an emotionally charged state.
At least, that's how I view it......

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/24/2008 7:21:55 PM | | Porn is something already created and painted for you. It in it's own sense stimulating to an extent. But it is rehearsed. Erotica on the other hand, makes all senses keen. It allows your mind to paint the picture as you wish to see it. It is much more vivid. | |

| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 5/24/2008 7:41:39 PM | i myself prefer erotica.. i'd rather play out the details in my mind than watch someone elses version of it. (i feel the same way about any book vs. movies)
literotica. com has some really good stories..
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 6/3/2008 2:43:23 PM | | Erotica for sure I find most commercial porn too artficial too fake and too superficial. Alot of moaning and groaning but no passion or tension. With erotica there is alot more depth and imagination to it. | |
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 6/3/2008 2:52:15 PM | I enjoy both depending on my mood................
not the cheap gang banger porn even though I like that too.........I like the sensual girl on girl.......
and sometimes I like my imagination to run wiiiiiiiiiiiiild with erotica........
Aw da hells............I like it all.........

I would like to know who here prefers porn to erotic literature. I am an English teacher, and I am immersed in books and writing, and I love erotica. Being able to imagine every image, every scent, every touch is far more arousing to me than either watching porn movies or seeing pictures or whatever. I write some erotica now and then, and it is a HUGE turn-on for me to get it all out on paper: eloquent, explicit, and descriptive. What are YOUR thoughts on the issue?
I know some like it but it does nothing for me; Unless I can touch the person it only gives very mild pleasure and isnt' much of a turn on.
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 6/3/2008 5:26:48 PM | I love to write it also. Me and my girlfriend are actually both working on a book together. She has the romance down and I have the sexual parts down haha. Personally I think its awsome even the stuff I write and will sometimes read things that others write.
However I must admit I also like to watch porn once in awhile.. sometimes you can get some new ideas lol.. the same things just get boring!!
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 6/13/2008 1:25:47 PM | | Another funny thing I notice in porn in that the woman are usually stunning (even though they look somewhat fake) and the men are usually not all that good looking but they were picked probably because they are well endowed | |
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 6/14/2008 12:17:52 AM | | I personally prefer erotica. Porn is just so practiced and rehearsed while erotica is what I make of it; wherever my imagination takes me. In fact, I enjoy erotica so much that I've taken to writing a few of my own and have submitted them and seem to be getting rave reviews on them. | |
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 8/6/2008 9:54:22 PM | | Erotica does nothing for me. I read it and think "Yeah right"; I prefer reality. Porn, on the other hand, when well done, is like any other sex toy. I get nothing from the porn itself, I get off on watching my partners face, or feeling her body react, while she is watching it; just like I do if I'm using some other toy, or prop, to stimulate her. Not only does it arouse her, but it gives me information of what kinds of fantasies, or activities she enjoys, by watching her reactions to different scenes. A lot of times you can learn things that turn her on, that she may have been to embarrassed, or uncomfortable, to talk to you about. | |

| Re: Erotica or Porn? Posted: 8/6/2008 10:48:58 PM | | Bit of both, to be frank. Porn is available for a good wank, erotica, it's there for my enjoyment. | |
|
| Erotica or Porn? Posted: 8/7/2008 3:31:50 AM | | I also love to write erotica. I didn't know that was what it was called for a long time. Porno also does it for me. I think porno is better for multiple people to get turned on, but Erotica does a better job for me. Some of mine is on geocities too.... | |
