Posted: 1/26/2009 11:07:30 AM | | You are right on the money no pun intended with your post. Just my 2 cents here, I agree with these bailouts being nothing more than fat cat welfare programs. However, I think your blaming Bush and the Republicans for this is a little unjustified. The problem is Washington not Bush policy. The bailouts were passed and approved by a Congress controled by Democrats and yes approved by Bush so there is plenty of blame to go around. As for the housing collapse need I remind you that Bush and the Republicans pushed for more stringent regulations on the lending institutions including FMae/FMac warning of a collapse in 2006. The Democrats many of whom were on the payrolls of these lending institutions demonized Bush and the Republicans, saying that they didn't care about poor people or immigrants. Calling the hearings a waste of time and rich getter richer policy. The fact of the matter is that the economy collapsed almost solely due to Democrats lack of action in regards to lending institutions loaning money to people who had no real means to pay it back. This caused an unprecedented foreclosure rate causing the bubble to burst and housing values to drop. I must also point out that Americans played a part in this too. So many people overleverged their homes, oblivious to the fact that the bubble was just that. This whole country has been on a credit binge, ingnoring sound financial reasoning and now the Country is experiencing a very large hangover. Thanks for this thread | |

Fellow musician here just commenting on your previous post. I too believe that the Republicans threw this election. The whole campaign was strange but interesting nonetheless. I hope the political strategy bides well for this country in coming years. I also was completely dumfounded on the medias complete disregard of Hilliary Clinton. They totally shunned her. The majority of American based company employees are overseas. We are competing globally instead of locally for job security.
I agree with the republicans and most economist there is nothing that we can do. The world is changing.

Clinton had some pretty serious distractions, which may have been part of a larger plan. It's no excuse, but perhaps we will know more as time passes.

Posted: 1/26/2009 9:21:05 PM | The world is opening up and capitalism is not going to make it in the next century. That is what the democrats or republicans do not want to tell you. Whatever we make or develop, there is a foreign country that can produce the same product or service for less.
We will soon be a country that most large companies will be funded by the government or state. That will continue into the bottom falls out. The majority of these companies that are huge employers of the American public have financial reports that are pure fiction.
These large companies are being exposed but there is no one going to jail. The news instead are reporting on pyramid investments scheme bankers that are up for trial. However, Meryll Lynch and all these other companies that have hid billions of dollars in debt are not even indicated as being defrauders.
The mortgage companies that drove all of these people into debt with full knowledge of interests rate secret adjustments are in Hawaii. What confuses me is the attitude of most Americans, you think because we are Americans or Republican or democrats. That nothing bad could ever happen or the government will not allow it.
It's going on all over the globe, and your government or the same fraud banks and companies are behind it. Have you forgotten k-mart, what a sweet company..lol, they love the familly. They loved the familly so much that they shut down all of their manufacturing plants in America and opened up overseas using child labor.
Money talks and the rest of us can walk. If we do not get our heads on right, we will just be another failed country with a subsidized workforce. The same companies will continue to do business here, just as they continue in other countries and not bat an eye. | |

Posted: 1/28/2009 8:14:58 AM | goodness we just got rid of the Antichrist(Bush)(well OK Cheney too),the destroyer of everything from civil liberties,almost all of our friends in most of the foreign countries we had good relations in,the practice of eavesdropping and torture,breaking every environmental pact,and ending so many scientific breakthroughs,attempted to attach Iraq with weapons of mass destruction and the Taliban,started a false war under that made up premise( by the way,God bless our brave troops,or sons and daughters over there,drug into those lies,but yes there is Taliban actually in Afghanistan)and then bankrupted our country in that war,as if we had financing to go to war to begin with,which we had not.ect,ect.
Could not imagine how any human being could possibly do worse than Bush,only 22% ended up liking him.That means a Bush fan is the extreme minority.only 2 of 10 people

Posted: 1/28/2009 10:00:10 AM | Forgot to mention,We the people are supposed to have freedom of religion in our country,so whether your a Catholic,atheist,Amish,Muslim,New Age,should have zero to do with a leaders politics,after all religion is supposed to be separated from politics yet so many of you make it your base stand.
We're a step away from a depression,some say we're there already,I was against the war,and protested till it happened but when we went, from that moment on,I stood firmly behind our troops there,god bless them,allow them to come home unharmed,I was against the war,still am, but for our brave people,the ones there that have nothing to do with how they are ordered,I'm proud of them and do not want them to doubt for a moment how much I appreciate there sacrifice,they bought into this made up story of weapons of mass destruction and such and got stuck there,and some leave politics aside and join just to support America and are detached from the politics even from the beginning when they join.
Now we have Obama,(I did vote for him) ,the voting part is over,you had your chance to protest, now is the time to stand behind him and give the man support,now we are supposed to see how we can help,time for protest is over,its time to ask what can I do to help this leader and our country.....don't be a thorn be helpful instead ,even I supported Bush until I found how he was more a destroyer than a help,but I was by his side at first even though I never voted for him. | |

"UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE": Socialized medicine that will cost billions and introduce unprecedented waste, incompetence and malpractice to American hospitals.
"ETHICAL FOREIGN POLICY": A powerless national security policy created because the left refuses to believe the truth-terrorists have a violent, homicidal hatred for our culture and will do anything to wipe it off the Earth.
"ENVIRONMENTAL CARE": Climate-change hysteria, legislation and vastly expensive projects to conquer global warming. You'll be made to feel anything less is un-American.
"SOCIAL JUSTICE": State-enforced "fairness" through policies that reward those who make no effort and punish the successful.
and thats just for starters,.....

Tell your Senators and Representatives to put their red or blue pom poms away and remember what their job is. We had zero fiscal responsibility under the last regime, yet suddenly, that's all you hear Republicans demanding. Where were they during the past 8 years as people like Haliburton ripped off well over a billion dollars?

McCain wasn't a good candidate either, but he was the best the Repubs could come up with. He blew it by picking Palin, if he picked Mitt Romney, he would've won the election. I am not a McCain fan btw.
I love how you say he's done an excellent job and he's hit the ground running....he's picked people that no one has veeped, and they are all crooks. He got everypone behind the worst spending bill of our time....which is going to make us go deeper into a recession...
The bill was passed without people even ****ing reading it! How blind can you be...Obama looked directly into our eyes during his press conference and said "there are no earmarks or pork in this bill"....look the bill up yourself online...

2) 50 million to the new york art institute
3) 100 million to be spent at congressional usage

First off I like Ron Paul but we don't have him do we,we have Obama,deal with who we have,you will find over the next decades of you going through presidents that not a one will be Jesus Christ himself,they will all have areas that are not perfect.Clinton walked away leaving the country trillions ahead,quite a feat,yet goes down as a guy that liked a BJ ,had girl friends and had some personal side real estate deals that were questionable,yet for the country we workers did well,many though will attack that notion and other will agree,like I said few are perfect.
You will see from history that nothing(bills) goes through without others throwing some crap into the bill,if you have a thorough understanding all all past bills you'd know most are almost all crap,this one has stuff in it that out of 900 pages of stuff ,it has one page of true pork,and that adds up to 1% of the money,one measly percent,that's tremendous compared to past bills.Plus lobbyists are like many Satans thrown into the works,Obama on them,thats an amazing start,you probably wouldn't realize the significance of that one thing,plus hes demanding accounting on all the money and has a web site where we all can check.Bush hid his secrets so did most past presidents and it was all unknown to the people a few decades ago.
It was extremely important not to have a stimulus exactly like Bush and the republicans since his bombed,had no restrictions put on the money,and he then sat on it forever after it happened,then the banks stalled it to this day,it helped no one,Bushes main problem was thinking corporate banks would do the right thing,that they could be trusted,these the same people that just ruined us and the world market.The Banks like Satan saying"oh you can trust me" and then we believe that,just like the auto industry said and they declined to give accounting also.
Bottom line every president that ever walked into the office with grandiose plans were quickly hit by congress and the senate with what they would or would not do,so if he has to have a few lobbyists involved to get rid of a hundred,that's a milestone,if you think you can pick a cabinet and not find later their maid was an illegal,then you not he has a crystal ball.The WPA worked,Obama has the same kind of general idea,I do not care if some now say the the WPA was a failure,my grandfather and many others that were part of that,worked because work was created,that why a stimulas package is a spending package,the government needs to create the opportunity for work,it helps millions but not 220 million,not on a measly amount of 800 billion,if 220 million people were to get help in a sectors of industry it would be an actual staggering number.This is a jump start amount of money,do you actually know what kind of money moves through this country!

We need a 3rd party in office, and until that day happens, we will fall deeper and deeper into a hole. I am glad republicans lost, they need to re-invent themselves or they will never win another election. Obama is DOOM for America, his policies are horrific, and with freaks like Reid/Pelosi at his side, we haven't even begun to see how bad this is going to get.
Bush is a bad speaker and a failed businessman, but in 50 yrs, he won't be seen as bad as he is seen today. His work in Africa for HIV/AIDS was the best of all time, and Iraq will not be seen *as much* as a cluster**** as it is now. Don't think I like Bush though, I think he did a terrible job in office, but he is no Jimmy Carter. | |

I see nothing but problems ahead for us because the middle class will most certainly be affected the hardest. The people that will benefit are the people on welfare that know how to work the system and the rich. People like me that work hard, pay taxes, and when something goes wrong financially no one will help us. Do you guys honestly believe that Obama is going to bail the average joe out. No he will continue to give welfare to people that are too lazy to work and illegals that do not speak English and expect to be waited on hand and foot. Lets not forget the major corporations like Ford and GM that are too big to fail. All your hard earned money is going to go to people that do not deserve it. If you are a church goer be careful because this could spell the end of the Christian religions as we know it. I still think that Obama is not a legal U.S. citizen and the Middle East is celebrating because this is their ticket into our country.

They destabilized our banking and financial institutions and compromised our futures and the futures of our children and grandchildren. And you are still pissing and moaning over welfare cheats and illegals? Damn man look in the mirror you have seen the enemy and he looks like you...not like an illegal alien!! More could have been done to address the issue of welfare cheats and illegal aliens if white men who had the control and power over the agencies and institutions that dealt with these issues did their jobs and stopped stealing. But the white men in those big businesses benefit from a low paying illegal workforce and while they have you worrying over welfare cheats and illegal aliens they are draining your pension fund.
Although I don't agree with people being lazy and living off government hand-outs the amount of money that has been spent on that is a piss in the sea compared to the billions and trillions that have been stolen by the white collar criminals. Why aren't you outraged by that? And most illegals are here to work, and do work, menial, often dangerous, low paying, no benefits jobs. | |

Just because,..........these programs are geared towards profiling "Blacks" and "Hispanics" (Non White),....at the top of their list, doesnt mean that,....
"Down On Their Luck ",.....White people havent had to apply for aid from these programs too, during times of Ecnomic misfortune.
Its just sad,..when anyone,....takes advantage of that system,..reguardless of race.

Even if Obama is sly enough to be able to muster some kind of Ecnomic Hope,.....we still have "Miles to go Before I Sleep",.......but as far as I see it,.......we , the decent, hard working, honest, American Tax paying Citizens,......have had the wool pulled over their eyes in every election, as far back as I can remember.

That reason is not good enough in my mind because you do not see black countries as successful countries even though they are headed by black men.In fact those countries are the poorest and most corrupt countries on earth.
But the USA is different.Obama is the figurehead with a strong team.He himself is really a good and decent guy.America is well liked now and its down to America choosing Obama .Not a black guy but a good guy.Just a qualified person instead of an idiot like Bush and his rabble.
America can never be like the America of JFK.That was the peak in recent history .
Obama can never be JFK but thats the nearest America will be able to come to those heady days .Don't look at colour- white man as in idiot Bush or black man as in Obama.
