Posted: 6/24/2005 11:25:09 PM | I was in NYC last week & these four women kept talking shit about me. They were at the table behind me & I could hear everything they had to say about my tattoo. I got up & marched over to the table & said, What are you talking about ? At least I have the nerve to say this to your face, YOUR ALL ****ES & your husbands would love me! I held my head high & walked out! They were left there with the jaws on the ground & red faced!

He told me no one knew but him. It was personal and something he wanted to be reminded of every day. I thought that was a good reason to get a tatoo. It took me ten years to design and get mine right. Now I have one medium sized tat on each arm. I always get compliments and people ask what they mean, I just tell 'em the same thing I was told. I certainly wouldn't let the artist photograph them because I don't want anyone else to have them..they're mine. I've never told a single person what they mean, but maybe one day if I find "the one" laff It's taking a while but I'm working on another. I'll get it just right eventually. | |

Posted: 6/25/2005 6:07:04 PM | its only been a few years ago that we used to go to the carnival and pay 5 bucks to see the the freak shows that consisted of tattoed ladies, fat ladies and snake ladies.
even the uncivilized tribes nowadays don't mutilate themselves, they are proud to be learning civilized ways of living...
tattoes got started by military guys back in the 40's ... so between then and now, why all of the sun in the last 5 or 6 years do women feel they have to express themselves with tattoes
have they forgotten how to talk and comunicate their feelings,,,,,, tats are bad enough, what about the piercings, once yu do it on the face, you can't undo it.. | |

That person dosen't realize tats have been around almost from the beginning of time, and some cultures its an agonizing ordeal that lasts for hours and hours (my dragon on my back had to be done 3 times and all my tats are prison tats so you know that hurt). It signifies their coming of age and becoming a warrior.
I have 9 body peircings too, 7 on my face but when I pull the peircing out noone can tell unless they're really looking hard and have to look up my nose for one. | |

The Ice Man, Atse I think they call him dates back to the Bronze Age. He is considered by some scholars to have been a trader since he was carrying several bronze axe heads along a known trade route. He had intricate and tiny tattoos on some of the joints on his body and these correspond to areas of arthritic inflamation suggesting that his tattoos were part of some sort of healing ritual? The intricacy of his tattoos would indicate that the tradition dates back far beyond his time.
People have been adorning their bodies with paint and mud in cultures all over the planet for millenia and it isn't going to change....ever. We are social animals and we are driven to select mates to reproduce...body art and modifications are just one more way to stand out from the crowd and get noticed. As long there are people who respond to these things, people will continue to do it. Whether it's a bone through the nose or thin eyebrows tattooed on.... | |

Which is a good sign i think, i didn't get beat up visiting Singapore walking in just a t-shirt.. ROFL.. And the 2nd one is a huge diamond on my shoulder leaf...
But i hate that a lot of peeps do have a tattoo nowadays... It's as common as a piercing or wearing underpants.. ROFL... | |

But hey at the end of the day each to their own. you don't like it then dont look. i myself have 8 but still if i dont want anyone to see them they are very easily hidden. So girls you want one then get one, you don't then simply put don't!!!!! | |

I liked it so much I now have 3, all strategically placed so they are/can be easily hidden in a situation where I have to dress up. I personally think on a woman, they should be hidden or easily hidden, otherwise they can look trashy in certain sitautions. I hate seeing wedding pics where tattoos are showing on women.
As for on tattoos on men:the odd one on a man's upper arm can be sexy. I dated a guy once who had 22 tattoos and I didn't know for the first 2 weeks we were going out. It was a huge turn off for me...way too many! Another guy I found attractive had one across his whole set of shoulderblades and back- BIG TURN OFF! That was the end of him... | |
