| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 9/1/2007 12:17:24 AM | I turned 41 had a head on collision with a cement wall and got a tattoo to celebrate teh fact that i didnt die....
the last thing i saw before hitting the wall at 45 mph was the dash board angel that said drive no faster than your guardian angel can fly....
well after 3 months of recovery I got a tattoo of a guardian angel red hair and all tattooed on my back so that she will forever be able to keep up with me. it is placed so that i can wear a ball gown without it being seen or a low lying tank top and have it be seen if i am so inclined!
I have been recognized by the tattoo out in public when i have had it showing and I get nothing but compliments when people understand the meaning of the tattoo...
should i choose to get married again I can wear a wedding dress and the wings will not show so perhaps i got mine for the right reason.?? I gto it for me for the celebration of life and the belief that i do have a devine power keeping me safe

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 9/2/2007 8:17:52 AM | I have a few tatts, but I thought about what I wanted and where before. So people don't think about the future. There are going to be some sorry people when the get older.
As for Tatts on women. I think a few are ok. Like on the lower back, an ankle somewhere like that.

Gee I don't even know anyone with a tattoo so I guess that says something about me...

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 9/2/2007 6:06:42 PM | they can make you more sensitive towards hair colouring, and give you an allergic reaction. Says so right on the box of hair colouring! Odd huh? Skin cartoons are fine for some, but I wouldn't want one. I know my skin is going through changes throughout my life and a tattoo won't look near as good as it would when first done. Removing it is an ordeal in itself, and if a skin tuck is in order, I can imagine what it would look like afterwards! Nope...just not worth the time, effort, money and future problems it will bring...to me. To those that have them....enjoy! | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 9/3/2007 8:17:30 PM | No tats, no piercings. For me there is something sexy about silky smooth unblemished skin that does more for me than stenciled tattys of a unicorn, or butterfly, or tribal, or whatever the flavor of the month is...
But hey, to each their own. Should there be a tatty feature built into the POF search engine? Hmm....

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/25/2007 5:25:48 AM | I think they're great. So long as some actual thought went into what they got done. I remember when i was a kid and was dying to get one, but i couldn't decide on what, so i waited. grabbed my sketchbook and came up with something i thought i could live with, and when i found something I went and had it done. These people that just walk in and pick something off the wall, I'm not sure i understand it. I mean i don't really care what anyone else does, and it doesn't affect my life one way or the other, But each one should be a story in itself. Not just "i saw it and liked it." | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/25/2007 8:47:19 PM | tats? seeing a cute chick with tats makes her hot. especially when it is at least the size of a half sleeve or shoulder piece. but it is not a requirement. i have eight and none of them were "off the wall". | |

| This woman has a tattooed butterfly Posted: 10/26/2007 6:27:46 AM | I'm designing my own tattoo at the moment... it's for myself, an expression of my spiritual beliefs. I have always wanted one but could never decide what exactly I wanted. It is going to be fairly large because I have so much I want to put in it...lower back, designed to complement the shape there. Mostly blackwork. It isn't going to be "cute" either.
I have no use for generic tattoos..it isn't like decorating the living room.
I don't care what other people will think of it... and maybe that's why I waited so long...so I could be sure I was doing it for myself, and not for "show".
I have no problem with the younger people and their piercings and tats.. I kind of hope we can all just accept others for their uniqueness instead of having a "look" that is "acceptable". I guess I'm still a rebel!

| This woman has a tattooed butterfly Posted: 10/26/2007 6:33:15 AM | | I don't have any tattoos. Never had the interest either, no piercings. I don't mind them on other people though. Just not something I wanted for me. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/26/2007 7:24:39 AM | have to agree with you that tats can be like hats or makeup--- took me years to decide on one and then hours and hours to have the artist put on paper what my minds eye seen. And decided that it would be placed in such a way that like the hat or makeup- i could choose to show it or not. For me its was not to be cool or trendy- more like a private inner thought and expression. L | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/26/2007 5:04:05 PM | Ive never had a tattoo, not that you can see one if i did with my permanent tan in all, but seriously, some tattoo's on a woman looks ok, if its hidden, but the ones with tattoo's all over the arms and breasts and you can see it, doesn't make the woman look feminine in my eyes. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/26/2007 6:09:08 PM | iIdont mind tatoos at all as long as they are well done, can be covered and mean somethin i.e not love and hate on knuckles! I agree tatoos on women can look bad, i dont like to see a gorgeous dress on a woman and theres a nasty tatoo on her breast ! However i think small 'cute' tatoos are naff, if anyone gonna have a tatto make it a decent size one! I wouldnt not date a nice man cos of a tattoo, 2 bfs i was well into were covered and one of them had massive ones on his upper legs of frankeinstein and whoever his mrs was and a massive flame on his back and allsorts think he had 14 but they could be covered in public and he looked blindin suited and booted, was one of the nicest lookin guys id ever dated! | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/26/2007 8:54:31 PM | I have a 34 inch body tat. I did it for me. It was designed based on the curves of my body (it wraps around my waist to my shoulder) based on the reference art I provided for my artist. I had a very personal reason for getting what I got, and it falls into more of the 'art' side than the standard wall flash. Not that I'm above flash, I just had a very particular idea of what ink I wanted.
I DO understand that it can be a dealbreaker though in the dating world. Outwardly, I probably look like the non tat type. When I was entering into a dialog with a potential date, I would ask about thoughts on tattoos. I work for the government, my tat is covered by a suit when I'm at work, so I've had no problems that way.
I think a lot can be said about a person's tattoos, the reason they got them, the symbolism behind it, etc. That being said, whether someone has tattoos or not wouldn't affect me either way, it has more to do with the 'why' as that contributes to who they are as a person.
(as an aside, I was pretty sure I posted this before, but couldn't find it.. so here it is again.)

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/26/2007 8:59:47 PM | | I totally agree. At my age, the thought, and reasoning why the tattoo was chosen, or what it means to the person, can give an insight to what that person is all about. | |

Historically, tattoos were a form of expression by drunken sailors, convicts and bikers ... all of which have traditionally been viewed as being on the bottom rungs of respectability in our society. Typically, they were not the role models a responsible parent would want for their son or daughter. Why in the world would anyone who is not a member of these subcultures want to be associated with them? To appear tough? Free-spirited? To be accepted? Get laid?
I beg to differ on the origins of tattoos. Tattooing is originally a rite of passage in many cultures. There is Henna tattooing of women in India and Maoris and Samoans have traditional tattooing practices just to mention a few. Indigenous Australians have tattooing and scaring practices. My opinion is to consider this type of tattooing for people who are on the bottom rungs of respectability; a little narrow minded and possibly racist. I am an Aboriginal/Islander woman with 3 tattoos. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to have them done traditionally, however they represent a significant part of my identity and culture, of which I am extremely proud. I also considered when getting them that I would need to "hide" them in order to be accepted proffessionally because of people like yourself who would discriminate against me based on my appearance and not on my skills or personal qualities. I think what is a little sad is when younger people get tattoos that they will regret in later life, I on the other hand am looking forward to sharing my body-art stories with my grandchildren as an old lady.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 10/28/2007 1:37:39 PM | I am not trashy even tho I have a few and if I dont want you to see them you wont because I can hide mine.
If they are nicely done they are nice mine are all small and professionally done.
But you are entitled to your opinion just like the government and the rich people say poor white people are just poor white trash.

| what is everyones opion on tattoos? Posted: 10/28/2007 2:10:16 PM | | you definitly don't have any...mine are for special meanings in my life. You've missed making some wonderful friends too. I assume you've never stood in a line at the store etc and suddenly two people or more in front of you start complimenting the ink on the other person, start discussing the artist, the meaning behind the tats and alot of times the exchange of numbers to get together sometime. I agree tats aren't for everyone. Just like preppy clothes aren't for everyone. Everyone has a reason for doing what they do. Funny have dated men with no tats and when they saw I had them, ended up loving them, especially after hearing why I have them. I mean everytime I look in the mirror at my one back shoulder and see my brothers initials etc with things he loved and it brings back fond memories. He died of brain cancer 5 yrs ago and I added the tat from the money from his will etc. I would not ever regret having mine. | |

I'd like to just get 2 (a pink Playboy Bunny trademark on my inner ankle and a butterfly one on my lower back). How sexy and feminine!!!

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 11/9/2007 11:21:54 AM | My question is why would a tattoe make a women look cheap, thats kind of an insult to women with tats.I have 13 tats myself...does that make me cheap.I work 70 hrs a week my kids are very well taken care of,i drive a nice truck.I think maybe before you decide to insult someones taste...maybe ...just maybe you should try to respect someones choice instead of judgeing them for it | |
