| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/11/2007 6:08:43 PM | I have two tattoos and love them both....My first i had done when i was 20 and it is my fav! It is stratically placed on my lower left abdomen of a lizard crawling down...not everyone in the world gets to see him but if they do earn that right or i choose to show him, ppl are generally impressed( sex appeal is def there too!) The second is on my right calf of a tree frog...when wearing a pair of shorts or an evening gown he also tends to add to my vivacious personality....i wouldnt have it any other way....they are me and i love myself ..I think ppl have to hard of a time loving themselves , if you do others will too the rest of the world can go screw themselves! p.s i will prob get more!!! | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/11/2007 8:56:33 PM | | I have 1 on my back. It has a story and I thought about it for months and carefully planned the design and got a number of references for the appropriate artist. BTW, technically, I'm a genius and don't care what other people think of it. I don't need the approval of society to feel good about myself. I would have to say that most ppl with tats are true individuals and their artwork is a demonstration of their personal freedom. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/15/2007 9:57:22 PM | | Ohhhh, I so love the tattoo questions. I respect those that get tattoos for a reason, but honestly don't understand those that get them for the sake of fashion. I've two tattoos, and they both remind me of two very important events in my life. The first I'd gotten was after I found my first fiancee in bed with another woman. The end of the beginning of love, I thought. Accordingly, the tat is not one that I have ever particularly liked, but it's one that I'm proud to have. The next is after my nephew was brought back from Russia. He completed my sisters' family, and therefore, was a huge impact on my life. The two boys mean more to me than I can possibly say, so I created a tattoo to represent them. Tattoos, if done right, enhance a person and tell a story. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/17/2007 6:03:56 PM | | I never realized people had such strong opinions on tattoos. I don't care for tattoos; I don't have any. Many of my friends got them in college. Sometimes I feel like I am the only person who has never gotten a tattoo. Even though I don't care for them, I would never not date someone because of it. I see it as a difference of taste, like having different music or art taste. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/18/2007 7:10:26 AM | My ex-wife and I had each others names tattooed on our backs when we got married. Yeah, I know, pretty stupid really but we thought at the time it was "forever". Yeah well there you go, water under the bridge now. She's had the common sense to get hers covered up with a butterfly thingy. I've not decided yet what to do about mine but I'll wait for inspiration. In the meantime my ex is STILL on myback! | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/18/2007 9:26:59 AM | For me, it all depends on the tatoo(s) and how many. I think its unattractive if someone is covered from head to foot, or say like 80% of their arms are covered in tatoos. Points for originality count too. Down here in Orlando, most people who have tatoos are the guys with the tribal armband or a crucifix or something like that. Oh wow...how completely unoriginal! Wow, I got a tribal armband, now I can look like everyone else! You're a sheep! At least get something original and meaningful, you know?
Also, girls with butterfly or cheesy little tattoos on their ankles...for some reason, the first thing that comes to my mind when I see that is "she works in a strip club". Dunno why. Either that or I'd picture the girl riding a bull and chain smoking at some country bar.
The viney pointy tattoo on the lower back just above the butt...yeah I know its not very original, but for some reason, that really turns me on.
People with excessive amounts of tattoos are a bit like people who spends every day in the gym or go to great lengths to maximize their physical attributes...they're usually trying to compensate for a lack of other things, like personality, or... um...you know.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/18/2007 5:29:17 PM | I personally think tattoos being out a person individuality...I got my first tatt at 37 and I am proud of it...It is on my mid-right calf and it is sweet...I know that tatts are permanent and I never forsee me putting someones name or initials on my body...There is meaning behind my tatt just as I am sure there is meaning behind the many of others that have them as well...If someone feels the need to put me in a category and/or judge me simply because I have a tatt then it will be their loss of not knowing a wonderful woman...I am the same woman I was before I got the tatt as I am today...Will I get another one??? You can bet your sweet a$$ I probably will! I think tatts rock on men and women... It doesn't make you less of a person just cause you have a tatt and to think so shows just how ignorant/judgemental some people really are! Always, Kat | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/26/2007 6:58:12 PM | I have 18 tattoos (so far). And everyone who doesn't know that is very surprised because they aren't (all) immediately visible. (Just the one on my right wrist).
And if that bothers you, tough.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/27/2007 3:39:22 PM | I am a professional, intelligent person (or so I like to think!), & I now have 5...yes 5...very tasteful, small & elegant tattoos that are always covered by my clothing, unless I bare them when I choose to.
I wear suits for work & the only time one can be seen is when I wear a skirt, with heels. I have a small tattoo on my ankle which is a picture my son drew when he was little. I can assure you that it looks elegant when set off by a tiny ankle strap.
Yes, I'm sure when I get old(er!), I may regret having them but for now, they are a part of who I am & I haven't offended anyone yet.
Would I have more? No. I'm quiet satisfied now.
Do I like them on other people? I think they can look very sexy on a man, if tasteful, thought about & in the right place.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/31/2007 5:08:27 AM | | I've wanted a tattoo for a long time. Recently I won a gift certificate to a tattoo place and for the longest time I couldn't figure out what to get. Now that I figured it out I never seem to have a free moment to go. I hope I get somet time soon. I like tattoos and would like to have one. Not necessarily a person with ink all over their body but some are really nice. | |

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/31/2007 3:47:42 PM | OP, thank you for putting this up.
Am just getting back into the dating scene and had a mild itch of wonder at this question myself.
I've gone through several phases in my life, and in one of those I would've agreed with you. I felt tattoos placed a person in a category below my standards and would automatically dismiss the person wearing them as uneducated, "cheap," and some one who didn't care much for themselves.
A phase later and I got a few tats myself. I have four beautiful tattoos that I feel are tastefully done, but honestly? They're not the first thing people notice about me. Oh, the butterfly on my breast gets a bit of attention, but no more than my smile or my quick sense of humor.
So, after having read this thread through, I've decided I wouldn't care to be with anyone who had an opinion of me based solely on my tattoos anyhow.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 12/31/2007 6:57:19 PM | Well, my opinion. Hmmmm. How do I say this,,,,,well, it appears that you may have been brain-washed by people who have stated their opinions around you a long time ago,,,like society,,, (obviously I could be wrong!!!),,,,like the beauty of a woman is all external.
My mom used to talk about how women with tattoos looked cheap. But that was then,,,,times have changed. My mom just got a tattoo of a hummingbird in memory of my grandmother,,,MY MOM!!! Never in a million years would I have thought she would even think about getting one.
It all depends on your opinion though. Some people, like me, have tattoos but they are dainty and blend in,,,if you will. They mean something to me, I love them. But when I go to work, you can't see them. Actually, no matter what I do,,,they dont stand out too much. On the other hand, some woman wear their tattoos all over and with their black lipstick and black eye-liner,,,so you get two different looks, but both types with tattoos.
Tattoos are just tattoos, they dont carry that stigma anymore,,,,hope this helps.

| what is everyones opin on tattoos? Posted: 1/9/2008 10:27:05 AM | Tattoos look trashy and sexy at the same time. I love them and I hate them. I like my women's tattoos to be covered up so that I am the only on who sees them. | |
