The point that i was tryn2 make is, that its the person thats important and should not matter if they have tattons or not! | |

Not everyone is going to go for that look, and even though you may be the same person with or without tattoos, some men will be turned off by them, and others turned on by them. Either way, it is going to get a reaction. The selection of a tattoo may be a personal choice, but the result of it is a statement to others. Everyone who sees them will naturally form some sort of conclusion, and you will be inescapably judged one way or another. Even by little kids. It’s not their fault- it’s in their face. If someone does not consider the fact that tattoos draw attention before getting them, that doesn’t change the fact that they do.
x vamps x, I’m not criticizing you in particular, I’m just speaking in general. Like I said, I think your tattoos are sexy and well-conceived, and you have a look that pulls it off well. But I always hear people with tattoos saying that they shouldn’t be judged by them, and that just doesn’t make any sense. Tattoos are perfectly viable criteria for judging a person- plain and simple. What else could be more representative of a person’s decision-making process (or lack thereof) than a specific piece of art that they have chosen to represent their personality on their body for the rest of their life? The permanency of a tattoo makes it more of a personal statement than clothes or a hairstyle or car/house, because those things are all fleeting and subject to change. | |

And yet your previous posts belies that statement.
Look...YOU can't see all of your tattoos (especially the ones on your back) unless you look in a mirror.Since I have to assume that you don't do this all day, you probably did this for other people to see.
If they see the tattoos...they are going to comment on them.
Or they are going think any number of things...most of them not positive.... about you.
I'm sure that you had to have thought about this for at least a minute when you decided to get more than one tattoo.
Or when you got detailed artwork.
And yet...you complain when you receive the attention that you have obviously sought.

Posted: 2/2/2008 3:06:20 PM | Hmmm, there appear to be some very derogatory remarks about tats on women, granted there are some that can 'look' trashy, but i emphasise the word look, it doesnt always mean that the wearer is trashy. I love tats and think they can be incredibly sexy but they have to be carefully chosen and preferably not when you are drunk! It makes me quite sad that so many people make such uninformed choices based on looks ... i have a law degree and 4 tats, i certainly dont think I am trashy!

Everyone has their own different opinion on tats, I love them & if I had a clean canvas I would start all over again, there are soe tats which i wouldnt have had tho, but the ones I am having done now would stay the same.
I do get 'looks' from some people (I dont have butterflies & roses or dolphins etc) but at the end of the day I am normal (I think lol) & would help an old person cross the street & give up my seat on the bus/train.
I had my first tat at 21 & yes I find them very addictive.

I have many factors in my life that diminishes my pool and this is just 1 of them I figure by the time I'm done diminishing I will have found just that 1 that is meant for me lol. | |

Posted: 2/4/2008 12:30:50 PM | you are right alana if someone doesn't care for the tats that you have then they sure don't deserve the person that has them. To me there is no reason to judge someone because they have a tattoo or more on themselves. As mentioned before in a post prior to yours there are many things that one can be judged on other than a tattoo. One that flaunts thier wealth, one that flaunts thier looks this list can go on and on. I ask for what the person that has the tat is by far no different from the one that was plain before they started having the tats added. I have three and I still make the same decisions that I did before the same way. I still look at things the same as I did before I had a tat placed on my body. The only difference that has accured is the fact that I decided to have a picture placed on my body for my pleasure and for a meaning meant to me. I never asked anyones opinion on what to have placed on my body and I have never asked anyones opinion of what they thought of it. Not that I give a rats A$$ what they would think anyways. each and every tat I have was placed there because of something special in my life and it still means the same to me as the day I decided to have one placed where it is located. If someone decides that because of a tat that I have I am a bum or slime then thats fine thats thier opinion and they can keep it to themsleves. I never ask a woman about her make up or clothes she wears or comment on it, unless I am complimenting her. I never ask a guy why he chooses a certain lady he would date or the car he drives or the reason he likes nascar or foot ball. I feel thats thier right to like those things and it has nothing to do with me. So I also feel they have no right to judge me just because I have a tattoo of a cross on one arm and a photo on the other. If someone doesn't like them then by all means look the other way and leave me to my pleasure of the enjoyment they gave me or have given to me.

This just for the people that think about regret its to late for that,I just got a pineapple on my shoulder,I love it .

I got them for me and only I can see them or even know that they're there when I go out. It would be very judgmental to label somebody "cheap" just because they have a tattoo. You don't know that person and besides, maybe you should lighten up and not judge so harshly. Who cares if a beautiful woman smokes? It's her decision; she knows full well what the risks are when puffing away. Btw, I am not a smoker but it doesn't bother me. | |

then I have the one on my right shoulder, that when people can see it they make comments on it is a convo starter men and women talk about it to me. It is on my profile. It is like a badge of honor to have loved and been broken hearted. Geting one more. I do let men know I have them so if they don't like them they can say not interested. I was one to say never will I ever do that but I did and I can't wait to get whay I think is my final one.

By the end of May my entire back will be covered I get many many compliments on them as well as just as many scowls and jaded comments. to each their own I say - But I love mine and cant wait till my lady turning into a pheonix is complete - but alas that will be another 15 hours under the needle before it happens

Kinda corny I know, but Tigger (yes from Winnie-the-Pooh) has been for lack of a better description my strength and rolemodel for as long as I can remember. I love the way he doesn't let anything get him down for longer than a "bounce", he doesn't judge or get mad, and his love of life is infectious. That is why I have him. He has always and will always be something I identify with and I'm proud to have that as a permanent part of me.

I do not consider myself anything of the sort.I went on a trip to Fla. a couple of yrs ago with a bunch of girl friends and desided to FINALLY get the tatt I had been talking about for soooo long..It's two hearts each containing my childrens names,I happen to be very proud of it.My family didn't think much of it but I didn't and still don't care.It hurt like hell and I said I'd never do it again but guess what just like the pain of giving birth u forget,and 2 yrs later I want another on my hip.I think they're sexy and if people r going to judge on that they're pretty SHALLOW!!!I can't wait to show the family my new one lol so if your thinking about it just go for it!!! | |

For me, tattoos were always worn by three types of people, all of them men:
Truckers, bikers, and sailors.
Now I was a sailor for 6 years, and I was never tempted to have a drawing permanently fused to my skin. A beautiful woman is in and of herself a work of art, so she doesn't need to have someone draw pictures all over her.
Also, tattoos tend to label you in the eyes of society. Some employers will not hire a person who has tattoos that can't be concealed. It is something to consider if you are thinking of getting a tattoo. | |
