Just not Christmas without .....

* Christ
* Family & Friends
* Christmas Carols
* Rum & Eggnog
* Turkey Dinner
* Putting up the tree & decorations
* Receiving Christmas cards & those dorky family letters ... yes I write them too
* Tobogganing
* Clearing snow off the car
* Wearing my reindeer antlers & Santa hat
* Delivering Christmas hampers
* Wishing everyone "Merry Christmas"
* Candlelight service at church
* Christmas dinners & parties
* Snuggling by the fire & sipping Baileys late at night with the tree lights on ... mmm ... sooo romantic
* Making my 19 & 23 yr old boys go to bed early on X'mas Eve or else Santa won't come
* Stuffing their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stockings after they've gone to bed
* Waking them up in the morning & yelling, "Santa was here! Santa was here! Come & see your stockings!"
* Laughing my a$$ off while clicking pics as they crawl downstairs half asleep to check out their stockings while saying
"Mom, I can't believe you're still making us do this ... like seriously!"

would not be Christmas without my kids

I have to totally agree with this, My daughter is not going to be around this Christmas, she is going to spend it with her B/F family in Texas. This is going to be the suckiest Christmas ever.

Christmas has always evolved for me. No two Christmas's have ever been the same. People come and go in each other's lives, leaving lasting memories.

I think Christmas would not be the same if I had absolutely no one at all in my life. But for that to happen I would have to be placed in solitary for an eternity.

We all have so much to be grateful for each and everyday. Sometimes we can forget to look in front of us to really see all that we have.

Oh and Santa...

Please remember my Carolines for underneath the tree, Christmas morning for me and my Turkey..

Just not Christmas without...Family and friends and those you love or have loved.

In other words another year dining alone on Christmas and trying to tune out to the emotions of Christmas and making the best of it.

Time to fill the void. Or I will be the guy eating alone at one of the hotel Christmas buffets alone again this year .

a good book and the cat.

It could be replaced by:

a good book and a fireplace .

could be replaced by:

a good friend and a cabin in the woods.

could be replaced by:

myself in the woods.

could be replaced by:

Simply myself.
The best Christmas ever.

Christmas just isn't Christmas without...

My KIDS (they won't be with me this year! Wah!)

My FAMILY (thank goodness for my mom, dad, and sis)

Giving the kids their traditional yearly tree ornament (specifically and specially chosen for each one!)

My 'MICKIE' of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum (the ONLY time I ever drink hard stuff)

SNOW! (I'm missing Alberta this time of year!)

Love and hugs and kisses and snuggles and smiles and laughter and sharing and Christmas music.....

My piano and Christmas music, but more importantly, an ability to love others and be thankful for the blessings that permeate my life. As important as playing music is to me, it is far less so than the other two gifts.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Ohhhh the quietness Christmas morning when no one else is up and the house is dark and warm and it's a winter wonderland outside.

All the expectations of unopened gifts, everyone getting up and seeing people's faces when they open a gift you have given them that you put a lot of thought into.

Haha the cartoons too, like Yogi Bears first Christmas and the Grinch who stole Christmas ...classic.

Just not Christmas without..

copious amounts of drugs & alcohol

Never been my favorite time of year, when I was younger I used to take my Holidays at this time and go somewhere tropical to get away from it all.

Nothing like Christmas sitting under a Palm Tree at the beach slurping down Margarita's...
but now it's all about the Kid.....

Hey...Christmas is ALWAYS Christmas!!!!

There are so many reasons I suppose that we can consider why Christmas could be a sad time. I do truly sympathize with those who do suffer due to the loss of family members through the years. Their pain is very real and what i say in no way do I mean to diminish what they maybe feeling.

I lost my mother to Cancer December 15, 1996 and my sister in law suddenly, on December 22, 2002, and this year my father died suddenly. It will now only be me and my boys this year for Christmas. And... what may sound crazy is I'm almost finished being ready for Christmas...we have the lights up... I have done the backing... and all that's left is to put up the tree.

I would be a liar if i didn't say there is the odd pang of regret .... but i do not dwell on it.
The truth is.... my mom, dad or even sister in law...would not wish that. Christmas was always a wonderful and very happy time of year in our family. They would all expect me to keep Christmas in the same way as we always have....... just as i would them... if the tables were reversed.

And so.... I do sympathize... those feelings are oh so valid, but i just want to very gently offer another attitude.... something to think about ..and another way to think on this time of year with missed loved ones.

Just not Christmas without the songs! or the tree or the presents! Once a year I really want to have "Ferrero Rocher" chocolates! mmmmmmm my faves!hint hint!After eights are really good too! When I was a kid it was those little boxes of cereal in our stockings! They kinda dissolved a bit when we would put milk in them, but it was the only time a year we got "the good kind"!!
