Decorating for Christmas?

Well, dang!! I was so down on decorating for Christmas because of a few personal reasons (82 of them to be exact ), then the other night when I was taking some fruit to a neighbor, I came home and attached to my door was a big red bow, a card and a ghirardelli chocolate bar....hmmmm...seems my neighbor across the hall decided I needed a little Christmas spirit to cheer me up since I've been "that gnome like little blonde grinch" (not my words...lol) for the last few weeks. Well, I knocked on his door and thanked him for the card and sentiment and he invited me in (we don't know each other well, btw) and his place was decorated like the North Pole and this dude is single!!! He had garland all over the place with lights, snowpeople scattered all about, stockings hung...omg, I was just in awe!!! I was just amazed this guy actually made the effort to decorate as he did being single and all...wow!! His place would put "Coastal Christmas Living" to shame not to mention Martha Stewart!!!

Anyway, the last time I decorated anything much less wore eyeshadow was almost 5 years ago so now that I've been inspired by him...I'm going to drag out a few decorations that have been boxed up for years, give my critters another lesson in "no", "leave that Christmas ball alone", and "don't make me come in there!!"

Then I'm going to invite my neighbor over for eggnog on Christmas Eve~

Lord, the dude even decorated his own critter. I've never seen a dang monitor lizard sporting a red ribbon around it's neck but I have now. *sigh* Only in Florida....

Your neighbor sounds like a cool guy! You're lucky to have him around. Our neighbors are awesome. She came home from work early - they have their own business, and came over and shoveled our driveway! Her husband is going to put my studs on for me.

She makes the best Christmas cookies I've ever tasted! I'm going to give her a Jade ring for Christmas and my mom is going to give her Very Irresistable perfume

^^^^Pfft!! That's not all. ack!!! I live in an apartment and we had a Christmas party on Monday night..my neighbor calmly knocked on my door and asked me if I would mind carrying down a tray of hor' douerves (sp?) that he had prepared for the occasion as he had more food to bring to the party and couldn't carry it all..omg..I was aghast and speechless!!!! (I'm never speechless, trust me..I can't shut the he!! up!! lol) I told him he would make someone a great wife someday!! The dude saw me in heels and begged me not to "trip" while transporting his food to the party..we both live on the third floor right across from each other (while profusely snickering in the background)....*sigh*

You sound as if you have great neighbors as well!! I love Christmas cookies and your gift of a jade ring is an awesome, awesome gift!!! Can I have one too?? hehe..(j/k)

Hi, my name is Micki, and I am a Christmas-aholic!
I decorate everything!
and I do it for me.....I allow others to enjoy it.....but I do it because I love the way it looks...
Being single...and not having children around makes no difference to me.....
it soothes me to be in such a cozy atmosphere.....
lights out and Christmas lights on.....fire burning.....candles glowing and smelling good......better than a valium!

I used to really hate decorating for Christmas but did it anyway. Now though I really enjoy it but don't have enough decorations to really do anything fun with them. With a handful of 555 timers and a bunch of light strands I'd make some wonderful light shows, but with just two 555 timers and a single 25ft strand, not much I can do other than chaser lights.
