Posted: 7/25/2009 10:20:11 AM | And yes such attempts at goading a "shock laugh" are generally more likely to occur in the context of a few alcoholic drinks being consumed, I'm sure most of us have probably made an inappropriate remark or two in our time after a few drinks that just ended up causing offence rather than triggering the laughter and the "Oh you're such a funny guy/gal" attention we were seeking.
And of course we're usually very embarrassed about it the next day.

It is way too immature and vulgar to even listen to I would have had to get up and leave the table to get the bad taste out of my mouth ishhhhhhhhh Some people have no cooth and I probably would have said I find that offensive to the guy and left maybe next time he would have thought before he opened his mouth. I know we all come to the table with different resources but really.

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 7/25/2009 1:04:58 PM | | That's an old outdated blue collar statement. I've heard this from guys a decade or so in the past before the Political Correct showed up. A few guys still say it today. It's not appropriate . If a man said that in front of womenfolk, he must of been both drunk and outdated per his slang. Or...he could be a potentially violent guy? | |

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 7/26/2009 3:48:35 AM | Dark humour works best if at least one audience member is in on the gag. If said in humour among people who don't get the joke, you're just saying something inappropriate. If you don't get that, the concern becomes how much of a Freudian slip was involved.
I mean he could've at least explained the punchline and just looked like an idiot, he might've got away with being drunk as an excuse. At best he doesn't have very good behavioural standards and worse social empathy.
Wonder what his clarity is like when problem solving really counts, if it was my friend that was with him and this was typical I'd suggest trading up somewhat before I have to pick up the pieces of something serious gone wrong. I mean idiots can get through life just fine, I'd just prefer they stuck to other idiots doing it, there's plenty of decent folk going without and I have to ask, what the hell are decent women doing with idiots?
Is your friend thick as two planks in other ways or something, a fattie with a drug habit and five welfare children?
See dark humour, but relevant. I'm sure she's actually a nice looking and smart girl, but if you didn't get the sitcom style humour there, you'd just think harsh but hey yeah it's a point.

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 7/26/2009 6:49:36 AM | Hmmm, what's the point in changing your mind cos others disagree with you ??? Best to stick to your guns and not be swayed in one's opinion.
Where I come from dark humour like that, particularly in bars, is very common, so I'm used to that kind of humour and I'm not going to jump on the offended bus on this one, albeit the remark may have been inappropriate given his audience. As I say, we all have different sensibilities re humour due to cultural reasons etc. I'm from Scotland, but indeed I've sat in bars with American guys who espoused some rather shocking black humour too. So it's not something that's particularly peculiar to where I'm from.
In any event we're commenting on the hypothetical basis that the poster's version of events is 100 percent accurate. Personally I have a little suspicion that said poster may have an agenda against the guy in question, in other words, does he fancy the girl in question maybe ? Why would he come onto a website and mention an incident involving a girl he's not going out with, blackening her boyfriend in the process ?There's possibly an agenda which could mean the incident is being embellished somewhat and things might not have happened quite as he outlined.
This is however just a suspicion on my part, but I'm sure this suspicion of a possible agenda crossed other people's minds too when reading the original post.

Posted: 7/26/2009 3:18:39 PM | | I,m surprised that no one has suggested calling the police so they can get a picture of the guy for the future . he may not of raped any one yet but the idea is in his mind . nothing funny about a guy thinking about hurting someone . with his name and pic in the computer system when he does rape one of you you have a better chance of finding him . the funny thing about this post is who is thinking about this ? causeing fear is one of the thing freaks get off on .

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 7/26/2009 3:24:32 PM | | That would piss me off and I would probably end it on that note. Raping someone whether meant as really raping someone or just f*cking them good and hard is morally and just plain wrong. Not too mention if a guy I'm seeing leans in to me and tells me good thing I'm with you or I'd be f*cking someone else I'd want to slap him. That in its self is rude and mean. | |

Posted: 8/3/2009 2:31:41 PM | In this day of political correctness, I am surprised anyone would dare say such a thing, let alone in a public arena!Shame on him or anyone to say such a thing ~ even if they say they are just kidding... ...rape is never a topic to joke about. Clearly he has no scruples!!
As for me, I would have had no problem knocking him to the floor!!

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 8/3/2009 2:51:07 PM | | I am beginning to wonder why some guys/gals are defending a guy who obviously does not need defending. Would these same people defnd a guy who had too much to drink, and saw a little kid walking by, and said the samething about a child? After all, if you can joke about raping a woman, what's to stop a guy from joking about raping a child? Nothing really, it is all a matter of degrees, right? It is all fun and game until someone gets hurt. How about if that woman he had joked about had heard him? Think about that for a minute. How hurtful that would feel. How scary that would feel. That's most women and girls greatest fears is being raped. It is not funny, and it is not a subject to be joked about. It is not even in the realm of dark humor. | |

Friends like that I would dump immediately, end of story. Luckily every female I know would of cut his balls off and walked out with his balls as a trophy.

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 8/3/2009 7:36:23 PM | Mmm, Let's see, I'm 47 years of age, been on countless single dates and double dates. Ever heard that one? NO. My thought for that girl DUMP THE CREEP. For one thing, he is insulting his own date. He's letting her know, "hey there's a better looking girl than you, and if you weren't around right now, I'd be going after her". 2nd (and more importantly) I have never (nor anyone I know of, ever said such a thing especially on a date. One Word L - O - O -N. | |

But to be fair you would have been well within your rights to check him on it too! If it had been me at the table and one my friends/relatives said that to his woman I would definatly check him on it - Real talk!

| If Your BF Joked To You About Raping A Woman, What Would You Do? Posted: 10/28/2009 12:43:07 PM | | My guess is this guy says inappropriate stuff like that and as much as a poor display of couth and imbarrasement it was to your freind, my guess is she is one who will disapline this poor display of behavior when she is in the privacy of thier home. I would think this guy should expect being in the proverbial dog house for a few days and be spending some time on the living room couch. | |
