I lost 65 lbs in 5 months. I did this several ways. I started going to the gym. I started eating high protein low carb diet. I did higher a personal trainer also..you would not need to go to that extent but for me with the back issues I had i needed to be safe. I have kept it off and truely feel much better. Had friends of mine who did the body for life and they rocked at it...he started competing in body building contests and winning at the age of 42. You have to pick the program that works for you...

Something fun I just found.... would make a great ladies night out! There is a fitness club in Clayton that looks like it would make it a lot of fun to work out...they have sessions for groups up to 10!

fitsexybody.com is the web site!
Another web site for similar types of work out is flirtygirlfit.com they have dvd's and other things to help your work out at home!

Wow Jai! And you are right about not spending much, the new jeans I bought are too big aready, but the next size down are too short inspite of them being "tall". Guess I will wait and alter them! No weight change other than the 1st 10, but that is not my goal. It is to get stronger since I was so sick last year, I lost a lot of strength and energy. I haven't changed the way I eat other than I added a late breakfast.

This challenge is not about weight loss necessarily, just about taking time out for yourself, and taking care of yourself, and maybe improve the quality of life for you and those around you.

oh yeah... duh... I think I read through it too fast! In my mind I was thinking pelvis, not sternum! Yesterday was a very unusually day of cases at work! Glad I am not in the Cardio field!

Tasha, i use the floor for my clothes!!!

The exercise equipment is in the 'weight room' with all the tools/equipment for the store! As soon as i can get it all out of here, i'm back on it, w/luck before my arm falls off!

LOL!!!! I would come help you, BUT I might turn MIA. My ex had top of the line equipment, and I never saw him use it once!!! But the Universal and Bow-Flex made great places to air-dry shirts....and this is one of "those signs" you should look for. Buys expensive stuff but never uses it for intended purpose!!!

I am guilty of clothes on the floor, too. I HATE cleaning...

Well my stuff is never top of the line, especially if theres a good chance it'll get little use! Only thing i have new in there is the exercise bike and it's got almost 3 miles on it and it's only 6 months old!

I agree with Shelia... sure I would like to lose that 20 lbs I put on since I quit smoking... but the truth be known, I want to feel healthy, sleep well, have a positive attitude and be able to hike up my hill and not be out of breath when I get to the top.

It doens't take long staying away from working out before you will fall victim to all of that.

Me personally I have about 130 pounds off of me... I lost it over time and NO, I said NO surgery to do it.

I did a life style change. I started eating better and many times a day.. SMALL PORTIONS. I was going to the gym 6 days a week.. but I felt good.

So, I have walked the past 2 nights and I am going to gradually get back into it... burn out can happen so quickly with me so I have to take it easy.

Good luck jaij. I am so not into women who have muscles like a man.... but then again, we all are different. The gym I go to .. you see all sizes and ages.. it is great. Once I walk into the gym I get so motivated.

I signed up along with a couple of friends, it's time I get back into shape, this past year has been yuk, and the pounds have packed on, but I am ready to to all of that this coming year. Bought the Wii fit and started using it the last couple of days. At least it's a start and fun!!

Bit of a family meeting tonight, so I had to miss my workout. I had Hayden with me so the boys had a blast tonight! Hayden actually said "I tired"! Usually he is in denial about being sleepy.

Shelia pelvis hmm, what cardio are u doing. LMTO
Went to gym tonite, my niece Alli, which is my training partner, made us do another killer. U guys can always ask her for great ideas. She is studying to be a Doctor btw. Shelia when does the massage part come in.

Way to go Terri keep it up.
Holler if u need some helping hands, we can motivate each other.

And Susie, I like the muscles that are shaping and toning me up. I can guarantee u, I do not look or closely resemble a man in any way. Geez

agreeing with Jai here...women can lift weights to tone their muscles, it's good for ya, or so I've heard..I can't lift weights at all..kudos to those who go for it, can afford it, or even have their own equipment and take advantage of using it to get to their full potential..without being couch potatoes.

I think some basic anatomy is needed! LOL I agree...taut muscles are one thing...muscles like a beefed up man...sooo not sexy in MY opinion. But some find it so! **skin crawls** Men are supposed to look manly...women are supposed to look more feminine! LOL

Well...I had an AbLoungXL which I LOVED...OMGawd...what an intense work out from that little sh1t...but I traded it to my daughter! LOL

By the way....there are several SPINNING gift certificates (5 classes each!) being given out tomorrow, at the NYE party!!

Usually these women that do this only look like that when the flex up like a dude! However, there are some that drop the body fat level so low that they start losing the female hormones, but keeping the same male hormone levels... which in turn has some odd effects... kind of like going backwards through puberty.

The larger muscles do burn more calories that smaller ones. A cool body and a cool environment also help burn more calories. I know I have more endurance running if I come in cold and only warm up for a min or two streching.

Jai, I am trying to be ready to run for the St Patricks day run downtown. It is a 5 mile beer run basically. I used to run/walk it arm in arm with my daughter when she was younger, but for the water at the finish line or just to slop around in the snow if it was there. I think I am going to make it. I just hope it is a cold day! Right now I am trying to build up more muscles around my knees so I don't hurt them, hasn't been an issue, but don't want to take any chances.

Jaij, girl the last time I looked ... you did NOT look like the gals at my gym who are.... muscle... that to me is not pretty.. .not sexy.. not feminine.. but then to each his own.

I too lift weights WHEN I get myself to the gym. Makes a world of difference.

New year... new training regiment once again. I do feel so much better when I hit the gym. It is time consuming but it will benefit the rest of your life.

I agree, men should be with the buldging muscles... well to a certain point. I just don't like it when they walk and have their arms hanging to their sides... the are sticking out cause of all the muscle... yuk......jmo
