| | UFC Rampage vs Silva 3Page 3 of 3 (1, 2, 3) | He did not run from Tito. He just made him miss everything. It was hilarious watching Tito get so mad.
The guy was working his style and dictating wherever the fight went. Hence Tito getting so angry. He couldn't do anything.
He tried to strike with him and lost that. Then he tried to take him down, then got all of the attempts stuffed, plus getting reversed and taken down.
He never ran from Tito. He dominated him.
Tito is very lucky he got taken down at the end of the second round. And I say that because Machida was not being elusive in that situation. Infact, he looked like he was trying to end it right there.
Or was that the first round? I can't remember. It's hard to remember when one guy is being made ass of so much. It all seemed the same. lol
For Christ's sake, the guy was using switch kicks and all Tito could do was stand there.
Tito really got exposed.

What you seem to be missing is the factor of fighter marketability. A case in point, re-read this thread with a pen a piece and paper and tick every time someone thinks that Machida's style is boring (regardless of whether he wins or not) and I guarantee you a percentage of at least 80%.
Now take that percentage and apply it to people who will read UFC ?? Main Event - Machida vs ?? for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title and I can practically visualise these people muttering "I'm not paying money to watch that".
That is why Machida won't get a title shot, I'm not saying this is right or fair but that's the way it is.

I wasn't talking about being marketable. I was just showing that I liked watching him fight, and I don't find him boring.
I don't even think he should get the next shot. I think Rampage should.

| UFC Rampage vs Silva 3 Posted: 1/3/2009 8:26:00 AM | Eventually he will get a title shot, so long as he keeps winning, case and point Yushin Okami, people say he is boring becuase he ground and pounds the crap out of people, so does Sherk and he was the lightweight champ. Okami is set the challenge Sliva for the belt, don't know why though.
These guys probably don't care that people boo them, and find them boring becuase they win. Winning is how they make more money.
|
| UFC Rampage vs Silva 3 Posted: 1/3/2009 11:39:37 AM | Okami is probably set to challenge Silva for the belt because there's currently no-one who can challenge Silva IMO
I think Silva had an off day against Cote, if and when there's a rematch he'll probably lay the matter to rest. I suppose there's also Bisping but he's not ready quite yet.
As to Machida, I am prepared money that neither Dana White or Joe Silva let him anywhere near a title shot in 2009 for the reasons I've already listed.
|
| UFC Rampage vs Silva 3 Posted: 1/3/2009 12:11:28 PM | Okami is set to challenge becuase he has earned the shot. Also Thalus Leites is rumored to fight for the middle weight belt in April. Plus Damin Maia's name has come up a few times. So its not a case of no one to challenge for the belt.
Back to the Machida thing. I recall everyone saying how boring Sherk was and that he would never get a shot, blah blah blah. But he won the belt, Tim Slyvia was nothing special same with him. Just becuase Machida is boring does not mean he wont get a shot. They will probably make his match the co-main event and have someone else main event.

| UFC Rampage vs Silva 3 Posted: 1/4/2009 7:15:13 PM | | I don't know why people complain so much about the Ortiz-Machida fight. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Machida dropped Tito in every round and then Tito nearly pulled out a miracle win at the end of the fight with that triangle choke when it looked like he was a quick ground and pound from getting finished. How is that not exciting? | |

| UFC Rampage vs Silva 3 Posted: 1/9/2009 8:51:21 PM | Just stumbled across this thread while I was looking at a guy's profile - wish I would have known it was here while you were discussing it as I love UFC and this card was one of the absolute best - everyone I wanted to win did except for my man Forrest - was very upset he lost. Felt he was doing great in the beginning then just got caught - while I'm not impressed with Rashad's antics, he did an excellent job and has continually improved since he was on the Ultimate Fighter show!
Loved Rampage and all the others - can't wait for the next PPV!

Silva will have to keep his foot in the door with the UFC and Dana White by beating some good fighters, market wise the guy isn't exactly a smooth talker in front of the camera...
