| I don't think much of people who do this Posted: 4/23/2009 6:58:11 AM | | I completely agree irespire....for one thing, you can have a so called disorder but ususally it doesn't affect anyone else. I suffer from anxiety, a lot more so than the average person. The sort of thing that sets me off is the sort of thing that would worry anyone, but maybe to a lesser degree, e.g. I always feel quite troubled when I see road accidents on the news, especially if I don't see the whole clip and it can make me feel quite uneasy because I end up worrying in case it was someone I know. I know its not rational, but that's the thing with anxiety disorders....they are not rational. It's like I have a bit of a panic attack; then I calm down and think what was I worrying about, but it's horrible while it happens. I also like to know the people I care about have got home safely after a long journey and I tend to panic if I don't get that reassurance. Once my ex boyfriend fell asleep in the car when travelling back from Scotland. It had gone 2 hours past his arrival time and I did feel really ill and panicky and I couldn't concentrate on anything... he was ok, he'd fallen asleep in the car as he needed a break from driving. I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, and I know I am prone to worry. I have had traumatic experiences in past relationships, which I feel triggered this anxiety, but I beieve it was there anyway and just lying dormant. As I work in a stressful job, I take tablets which make me feel calmer but I try not to let it affect me too much. I don't take think there's many people, if they being really honest, who can say they've never suffered anxiety or depression. I try to be sympathetic to those that do, because I've been there. However, some people still view anything like this as a stigma, because they don't understand and, if the truth be known, they're frightened of it. | |
