Here's why Jerry Jones is dead set on keeping Phillips, he quotes consistency, says he believes Phillips can change.
My money is on it that having something to do with Holmgren sitting out 09. either way 09 is already over cause Wade will be Wade again next season, not like he has any power anyways if he ever tried to bench someone they'd just go cry to Jerry bout it and Jerry would come fix it
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 8:57:54 AM | Regardless of why... If the Cowboys don't make some serious changes in the off season I fear they will find themselves right back where the were this year! | |
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 11:55:33 AM | Unless wade gets canned expect an even worse season, his lackluster team already disgraced Texas stadium closing night and will probably welcome in the new stadium in the same way.
If you're not going to get rid of Wade can you at least dump Garrett? give us some hope going into 09 pleas Jerry
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 1:10:59 PM | I'm still hopeful as crazy as it sounds. Being a Cowboys fan so long I've learned to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. So far he's solid on not making any changes with Garrett or Phillips just aside from telling them change is needed.... | |
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 3:36:33 PM | Debi,
It's cool. Misunderstanding happen.
Anyways, I agree somewhat that a headstrong head coach could help out the team but the lynching of Garrett is overdone in my opinion. The players, are again using an excuse for their horrid play rather than taking full of responsibility. I challenge any normal football fan to tell me Garrett's "scheme" that teams have figured out. Sure, the Cowboys are predictable but did Garrett's playcalling cause Romo to throw interceptions or Barber to fumble. Roy Williams to not even look for the pass or TO to drop key passes?
Garrett I think has a potential. His players gave up on each other instead of bonding together.
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 3:40:43 PM | Jerry has given the ok for Garrett to talk to other teams and Garrett is talking to the Broncoes and Lions i think about coaching jobs, i think if he takes one of them Jerry will have the excuse he needs to back out on his no coaching changes stands.
It doesn't seem like there's a single player on offense the respects Garrett anymore except maybe Choice who's "I'll play hard for anyone" attitude you just got to love. I'd put the blame for this on Wade as well, there's no way you'd get away with that kinda crap on lets say a Jeff Fisher team
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 3:46:36 PM | The lack of respect isn't warranted. That is exactly that team's problems. Why should they lose respect of a coach who gave them excellent stats at the end of the season. Teams just figured out that jamming TO at the line disturbs his route running and he has shown to not be able to adapt to that. Roy Williams has always been mediocre at best. The ONLY one that was worth throwing the ball to was Witten and if they had figured out Garrett's schemes I would think the first one to be stopped would be Witten. The OL has ALWAYS been overrated in my opinion and it showed once teams figured they couldn't stop a blitz.
They should have lost respect towards themselves. My team lost respect for Nolan along time ago but it mostly came from Nolan's "soft stance" on everything like Wade Phillips. We had a diva on Vernon Davis and what did the new coach do? Kick his ass out the game. Now? He is a team's player.

then how can you question people who want Wade gone, sorry but i just don't get where you're going with this other then the usual Cowboys hate of trying to fit every ESPN cliche into 1 post.
|
| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/5/2009 4:47:34 PM | Meh,
If you read my post correctly I was talking about Garrett not Wade. I'm sure the players have lost respect from Wade. I'm not questioning that. I'm questioning those calling for Garrett's head when the problem starts from the top, Jones and trickles down to Wade. They can't get rid of Jones so next up is Wade. You can't blame Garrett for the players inability to execute and stay disciplined. So, instead of generalizing my posts, try reading a little more in depth.

| Dallas Cowboys 2010 Super Bowl Champions Posted: 1/7/2009 3:49:58 PM | I found this in the Washington Post this afternoon. It was in the comment section on a story, so please direct your ire at the person who wrote it. Interesting way to end the season. It's kind of sad...or pretty d*mn funny, depending on your viewpoint. The URL was still alive and well on E-b*y at 6:45. The bidding is at $33.
Cowgirls fan cries, gives up on his team, and offers his fandom for sale on Ebay. Talk about a pitiful person and a pitiful franchise!

Good one Debi. Even when his team isn't playing, Romo still loses in January.

I heard they broke it off because Jessica is looking for a serious commitment and Romo can't get a ring.
That was on FOX's Sunday pre-game show...had me dying
