Most european armies have wanted Irish soldiers in their armies for centuries ie. the spanish and the french. Read the book, "How Ireland saved the World" during the dark ages to learn about the "very low intellectual level" you say. The Irish learned latin for ages and were highly educated before Britain ran the country to the ground and destroyed all evidence of the history and culture.

The Irish are tough, independent, fun, clever and creative. How else do you think my forebears made across the Atlantic in a boat, then across America in a covered wagon, to end up on the west coast? :) I'd love to go to Ireland someday and meet some of my relatives... the Bryants and the Pattersons, and have a beer with them.

My mother was from Cork and my husband from Dunlaoghaire, I love the Irish and Ireland and go there often and would live there at the drop of a hat despite the weather, the reason for my love afair with the Irish people is 'They are simply the best' they have time and respect for people no matter what age, unlike the UK. I love their irreverent humour which I do get and enjoy, they are sharp and witty and I love them and would rather have an Irish partner than any other

Posted: 4/29/2012 6:04:06 PM | I am supposed to be 27 generations removed from King Brian, which gives me very little Irish blood, but when people ask what my heritage is I say Irish. The only land and people I've ever felt a connection to is Ireland and it would be the dream of a lifetime to finally visit.
