When I dressed in short skirts and cleavage - way more dancing happened. Didn't mean I was a slut or a whore, but as a group, you guys respond to sexier dress before classier dress and if I wanted to dance, I wore the clothes that helped me attain my goal. Appreciate that fact before you start calling people down, because I think it's pretty insulting of you to assume things about people based on how they dress.
Yep. It's unfortunate, but true! Personally, I love dressing sexy (no matter what "they" say), but mostly I dress in skimpy clothes, cause I dance fast and work up more of a sweat on the dance floor, than at the gym.

| classy women in clubs have they gone the way of disco? Posted: 1/13/2009 8:30:48 PM | Wow! I thought I was the only one (poster) who thought like this! Was in a bar briefly before Christmas and was amazed at all the women wearing the tight jeans, 4inch high heels and skimpy backless tops! BTW it's 40 below here with the windchill. Most of the young women in the bar seemed to think it was summertime. IMO don't have to be half naked to be sexy! Then again I don't subscribe to the "that's hot," generation of Paris Hilton clones. | |

| classy women in clubs have they gone the way of disco? Posted: 9/26/2009 4:23:15 PM | ...... this old thread was originally started in Jan/09? Wow, it seemed when I was reading it that I had fallen much further back in history
and class definitions ?? by a male who calls himself 'peedonyourpoptart' .....
okay, fine .... the more things change the more they stay the same IMO!
** so BE are you planning on wearing the 'oh so appropriate' tight enough to see, just about everything to the disco bash?

| classy women in clubs have they gone the way of disco? Posted: 9/26/2009 5:17:01 PM | I have always been Classy whether I show some cleavage or not, classy is an attitude inside and out. I have to agree with the poster who said that if more men dressed better at clubs, you would see the women up their game as well. A green bananna now that is classy..:) | |

She's been dead for years but Mom's lessons are always with me. I have never been one to follow fashion trends but try to "dress-up" appropriately for the occasion.
I have to agree with the poster who said that if more men dressed better at clubs, you would see the women up their game as well. MsBehavin That is a good point. Some men choose very casual attire.

For the women there is a borderline between class and ho. To dress sexy and be provocative just enough is class that not all women can pull off. The real class is a woman who can club and not be a drunk. Drunk woman equals no class.

It is not okay, for a male, or any other women for that matter, to objectify young women based on their clothing. Who gets to decide who is the slut/ho, or who is simply walking the edge of 'very sexy'?? You?? I think not! They have to decide that for them selves; they decide what is appropriate.
How much a person drinks is a separate issue all together, and trust me! there is no gender bias there! I may not be someone who hangs out at the pub, but I did in my younger days with friends, and it wasn't the women who were the problem. We do not want to start trading gender insults based on party/pub behaviour, because there would be no winners!!
I think today's young women are trying to find a comfortable place for themselves, where they are not afraid of their sexuality. Many are much stronger and more upfront about themselves and their sexuality. They will not allow themselves to be labelled as sluts and hos, because they know it is a way of controlling them and they are very much aware that men don't let such labels hold them in check
And yes, some are just confused and like their male counterparts, have drug and alcohol addictions....sad, but not the reason to label them with no class or as hos.
Spend some time thinking about the word "class" and how it is used to objectify and segregate into types or subtypes, both here and in other cultures. When you say someone has no class, you are lumping them into a group, that is sorted by its characteristics, or assuming lack of character..... you should be very careful when you hear someone use that word. It could be used against you too....based on your income, sexuality, gender, social standing..... perhaps some would consider you classless .... for what ever reason?
We were all young , and sexy at one time, and we did dress that way, way back in the day Try to open your mind, and be respectful of young people who are learning their way.

Try to open your mind, and be respectful of young people who are learning their way. It wouldn't be all that bad if they were learning,,,but a lot are just following or copying. So much "stuff" is being fed to the younger ones they have no clue which way is ,,,,,"the way". How can they figure out what is reality and what is not when half the programs on the tube are so called "reality" TV???? Take the Jon and what's her name circus. It's borderline retarded what we,,as a society are now defining as entertainment.
I had to explain to the daughter years ago about her attire. It's not always what you truely are that people will judge you by,,,but their perception of you.Clothes that you are wearing,,,or not,,,is one way to form a perception. Unfair,,yes,,,,but also reality.

The Reality is that it speaks poorly of those who do so.
I had the same conversation with my daughter.... to protect her from those realities. What choice is there? You must....
In this particular instance we have a young male, and other women slandering young females based on their dress. I still would like you to think about the context here, and the use of the word 'class' to show contempt for these young women.
As discussed previously, there are no appealing drunks, regardless of gender. And I wonder if how they dress, and what they believe, the younger generation, can truly be judged by anyone over 40
sigh: did you hear that sound?
It's borderline retarded what we, as a society are now defining as entertainment. Walts (I am definitely in agreement about Reality TV..... ) but then most TV is not too smart....fun though lol
:) perhaps we should all discuss this at the nudist camp ??

Mental note: Bring school uniform to Powell River pub night, mind my manners, and - speaking of the p's and q's - keep tart tightly sealed in box.
I am not responsible for your mental imaging...

| classy women in clubs have they gone the way of disco? Posted: 9/30/2009 7:05:10 PM | women dress sexily cuz males seem to like to stare at breasts, bums, and legs ... its a tad too dark to look at the face
so when men stop staring at these female assets, women will less likely show them off

Sooo,,,are you saying the reason you dress as the way you do, is because of "us" men?????
May I suggest you get out of the habit of doing things because of "others"???? Whatever your answer,,,,I guess I just did,,,,,,,suggest,,,,that is.......

| classy women in clubs have they gone the way of disco? Posted: 10/31/2009 12:29:49 AM | I think the age group under 25 is very misguided and very sexualized ...in some ways you can blame pop culture ... I mean really who is watching Britney Spears bump and grind up a pole ..lady gaga ....pussycat dolls....etc...these people have a following where the average age is 14. I think it is suffice to say that young girls are being overtly sexualized by pop culture and spoon fed soft porn before they are even hitting puberty ...and by puberty soft has become hard ( pardon the pun )
short answer ...because they think it's what will get them attention and that it is men's ideal...they are giving you what society has told them you want
You are young yet OP - soon you will realize that it is in the eyes ..not the t-shirt , the skirt ( or lack thereof ) or the push up bra ....it will be the woman who has it in her eyes ...and by how she walks and carries herself ...
