Funny you should ask about the favourite thing. One of the non photo people I did hesitate before I deleted him., because I have chatted with him on MSN and he does seem nice. However, he refuses to ever meet up, post a photo or anything. I am very much guessing he is not single and using POF when he is lonely.
If I had no intentions of ever meeting I would post a picture. The best one I could find on the net. 
You never answered my question. If we hit it off, would you delete me for not having a picture? I bet not. I'm just trying to say, life is full of surprizes, you just never know. Don't limit yourself, but be careful. You deserve the best.

I wonder, if you aren't honest about your photo, would you be honest about your user name?
And I'd take any Safeway bag and day. Especially if it is full of Yummy chocolates.
I am of the firm believer, now, because of this thread, people with no photos either having something to hide, or are paranoid, or secretive, or can't work the browse button to load a photo. | |

This thread has totally changed the way I look at online dating sites and the various people that hang out at them.
One thing not mentioned...do you ever notice newbies often don't have photos. Over time they start putting photos up and they leave POF as they met someone.

Posted: 1/12/2009 12:29:00 PM | I took my photo down for a while. I can say I didn't enjoy not having one. Posting on the forums seemed dishonest without a pic. My reasoning was that my haircut made my pics not current. Some of us get a bad hair cut or one we don't like and then don't want to post pics of the hair shame. 
Hopefully the cut I get this week will change how I feel about my short hair.
I have talked to a few people without pictures, but I found it hard to want to get to know them without a face to add to the profile. | |

I changed my profile name and didn't post a picture with this new one for a couple of reasons.
1. I was contacted, in real life, by a couple of the clients I work with - my home number is unlisted and I have a blocked number but once they could put a name to the face THEY (yes- THEY, great minds thinks alike) had a great ol time being inappropriate on line.
2. I got a little tired of the "creepy, inappropriate and sexual comments" made by strangers in their contacts with me.
I certainly appreciate that everyone has their own opinions about posting or not posting a picture and to each their own.
In defense of contacting people without pictures - I have had some great conversations with some people and even some nice dates with people who didn't have a picture on their profile.
I even spent some time with one man that neither of us had seen pictures of the other before we went on a date (a little stressful in the beginning, but we met in a local coffee shop and had a GREAT, seven hour first date).
Do I have something to hide - yup, my privacy - now I choose who gets to put the name to the face. Not showing my picture also limits my having to deal with individuals that appear to think that women are meat and on line dating is a sexual meat market.
I think everyone hides things, intentionally or not. In my experience not everyone without a picture posted has something sinister or dishonest about them. Just as not everyone with a picture is above board and honest as the day is long. | |
