Posted: 1/9/2009 9:42:26 AM | I think he may be the same guy I dated once. He thought I was fun to be with, sweet, funny and caring. He admitted he was seriously hot for me and the chemistry was amazing, but he would never consider me for more than a friend because I was overweight. Funny thing is... I have a full length picture too... I have a few pounds over listed, that I was hoping for long term, and it didn't matter in the end.
Reality is... there are pricks on here and biotches too... I just ignore those guys because reality is... I'm hot and look damn good for 46 and all I've endured for the past four years (multiple surgeries and cancer).
I have no problems getting dates and enjoy the men I do spend time with. I'd rather be honest and upfront and be myself.... so... I'm overweight and need to lose a few, but my life is better than most and I enjoy every day of it.

Thanks patrickj5164 for "keeping it real" for us and giving your kind opinion. You know, when you sent me a rude, UNSOLICITED private message today simply saying, "No Thanks" .........? You know the one where your goal as a total stranger was to try to make me think I am hideous and disgusting? A woman who would be so stupid and careless as to have the gall to not meet your criteria? You seem to be deluded that simply because strange women have their profile up here that they must all be offering themselves to you and are pining to be with you. I was having a bad day to begin with. Thanks patrick5164 for helping to make the world an uglier place.

People, Stop buying into the fashion magazines that think everyone should be Size 2. Their standards of average are NOT average. To the OP, don't feel bad, honey. Maybe it should mean that , but average is what the majority of people are and the majority of people are overweight.
If you took the weights of all the women on this site, added them up, then divided by the number of women, that would give you the "average."
"Average" is not the same as "ideal." | |

Candi, your post is the only one in all of the forums I've wanted to reply to.
First, keep in mind, people usually say about other people, what they fear or hate the most about themselves!! i.e. poor self image. So ignore the email you got from Ignoramous!
POF's body description is so subjective, I know some very thin people who couldn't jog 5K to save their life! And some "average" people who's fitness could put most to shame.
And please ignore Cowboy- a 5'3" woman who weighs 125-130 lbs is a decently small woman. Definitely not average.
Who spends too much time with their nose looking at bodies in People Magazine, developing messed up ideas of body image. Men or Women? | |

I've seen profiles from both genders where the person is obviously delusional about their size.
Yours isn't one of them.
He might have been PMS-ing...ignore him and be glad that's one less chunk of algae in the pond. Too bad you can't send him a virtual tampon. | |

I have to say that the Internet has caused a breakdown in civility. Through the anonymity of the screen, people feel free to say whatever they want. Things that they would never say to your face. It give courage to cowards and means to the rude.
I feel that you should write as if you were speaking face to face with someone.
That being said, he was nothing but a creep with low self esteem who was looking to build himself up by tearing you down. Be consoled in the fact that he would never have to balls to say that to your face... let alone look you straight in the eye.
God, I hate people like that.

I list myself as a few pounds overweight. I'm upfront about it, and I still got a couple nasty emails.

I was so angry, my brain shut down for a couple seconds. I checked his profile and saw that he has a super cool mullet and looks like a Don Johnson throwback from Miami Vice. I told him so and then blocked him.
"There's something wrong with your picture. It's your eyes, are they fake? Contacts perhaps?"
Geez, am I blushing? He really knows how to sweet talk a girl. Blocked! Incidentally, the eyes are real and I'm not wearing contacts.
I said all that to say this: You can be as truthful as humanly possible and someone will still feel the need to belittle you about something. Unfortunately, I've found more often that we dwell on these negatives instead of all the lovely positives. You are positively lovely. | |

Of couse you could reply and make a negative statement but that would be dropping to his level and take a good 2 minutes of your valuable time! Delete the message...and keep on fishing until the RIGHT one comes around!
