As for reports of GSP's corner lubing him up; this allegedly tookp lace between rounds 1 and 2. And just to satisfy the suspicious, GSP's was toweled off before the beginning of round 2.

In other words, it was irrelevent to the fight and it's outcome.

As far as GSP's corner man goes, I believe it was just what he said it was; a ritual to help centre the fighters energy with nothing to do with attempting to lube the fighter. Unless of coursee we are to presume GSP was cornered by a bunch of blithering idiots, entirely unconscious of the crowd, the commissioners, and the cameras.

a commision rep got involved more than once... I guess it didn't happen huh.. they we're just role playing?? GSP's corner being chewed out was play acting for the fun of it??

vasoline your arm then towel it off... add in sweat... it's an issue...

And i'll again say, GSP dominated the fight... doesn't make the issue go away.

The fight is in the books! It's over with. It's done.

The Commission already keeps a constant eye on the fighters from the time they enter a venue on fight night to the moment that Buffer announces the winner post-fight. There isn't much room for tightening Commission procedures, except for making sure that the cornerman applying Vaseline to a fighter's face touches ONLY the fighter's face. Maybe that rule change will be implemented. It doesn't stop fighters from greasing up with multiple layers and then wiping dry before they enter the venue----that's really how fighters make themselves slippery during fights.

It's done. BJ had better concentrate on Florian or whomever is next at LW, or he's gonna lose that fight, too.

The reports I have heard said the commision got involved once, between rounds one and two.

I don't know what all of this "they were just role playing???" crap is. The commision hasn't overturned the outcome of the fight for a reason. BJ Penn isn't demanding a remantch for a reason. And that reason isn't because GSP is a cheater, or that he only won because one of his corner men is a cheater.

Or is that all just play acting too??? BJ Penn doesn't really want to beat GSP, huh? He doesn't really want to hold the welterweight title too???

GSP dominated the fight. And any issue WITH THAT has gone away ... with it's tail between it's legs.

well you see JJD and BMC that post was just for you.. BJ nuthuggers. Thats why I wrote it as if I was replying to BJ himself.

A meaningless post.. I think not, too bad your hilo hero got his ass beat EH'

You just dont get it, George is better in every way and proved it twice. What do you want?? Now you have to make lame excuses like gsp was greased? Give me a break. O wait.. You didnt make up the greased story, lemme guess you read it on the net.. Made up by more nuthuggers! The only time george would need vas.. Is when BJ asks for it up the you know where.

The reason why I am annoyed is because you just cant let the man have his win..Nor can that spoiled baby.

WOW that vas sure did effect the outcome hey.. Thats why gsps punches were finding a home everytime.

Face facts.. #1- In the areas where he was going to 'kill' george in he got owned.

#2- he has a major lack of heart and desire for this business. (prove me wrong)
(if he loses to florian he will retire)

#3- His mouth writes cheques his ass simply cannot cash. (unless its against 155ers)

STAY outta WW baby J.

GSP On Penn Complaint: I Think It Is An Excuse

"I just can't believe it. I don't know. I'm just surprised. I'm not a cheater. What happened is my trainer, my Muay Thai coach, he put Vaseline on my face and then put his hand on my chest and back. But that's a technique we use for breathing. It's good. It's used in Muay Thai. I use it in many of my fights. If you look at my previous fights, it's not the first time he does that. Then B.J. said he put Vaseline and rubbed my back. Anyway, I think it's an excuse. I have nothing to hide. I'm not even afraid to go into court and fight that.

When I lose, I always try to figure out why I lose. But the problem with B.J., he tries to figure out why he loses, but he doesn't focus on himself. He focuses on the other person. When I lost the fight I focused on what I did wrong. I didn't focus on what I cannot change. B.J., instead of focusing on things he can change to make himself better, he tries to focus on things he doesn't have any control over, and tries to find some excuse that it's not up to him. It's really an excuse. He should focus on things that he can change about himself in the fight to make himself better. That would be a better approach for him..."

That's GSP talking about the whole controversy.

BJ couldn't even win the standup in the first.

This just wasn't a fight BJ could physically win.

This sh*t is so stupid. GSP's win has been upstaged by all of this nonsense.

I pity anyone who believes Vaseline played even a marginal role in Penn losing.

I heard the stats on the fight ...

As far as heavy strikes were concerned, GSP out punched Penn 4 to 1.

GSP also passed Penn's guard more time in their 20 minutes, than Penn's guard was passed in the first 200 minutes of his career.

Wow.

GSP is like ............ Batman. You better finish him the first time around, 'cause if gets a second chance, he's going to have it all over you.

I do however cringe at the thought of a GSP vs. Anderson Silva fight. If GSP's fight against Penn showed anything it's that, when up against a bigger, stronger version of yourself, the bigger stronger version is (probably) going to win. lol

Reading Comprehension for the win!!!! Never did I say anything about George not Clearly dominateing the fight everywhere... in fact I said the complete opposite...

as far as the nuthugging comments... I laughed at that

I would have much rathered some grease nonsense to have happend in another fight with none ranked fighters so it could have been discussed... Obviously your having a problem with that so it doesn't really matter.

I'm a GSP fan, I have been since he started in the UFC you morons. OFTEN two fighters I like fight... it's not a personal vendetta against the fighter I would rather see lose that particular fight... I've never bagged on George nor would I. So for God's sakes before you put words in my mouth and spout off like a baffoon...take the time to ingest what i've written... or just reveal more of your idiocy...

GSP is the freakin' man!

It's too bad there's such a weight-class difference. Otherwise I'd love to see what GSP could do against someone like Fedor.

These are two of the P4P best fighters in the sport-a smidge (and I mean a SMIDGE)of vaseline isn't going to make any difference in the fight.

Anyway, the most effective way to "grease up" for a fight isn't vaseline-it's baby oil.The morning of the fight, the fighter takes a piping hot bath that he liberaly pours baby oil into.He sits in the bath and soaks in it a long time, letting the oil soak into his poars. Then, once he starts fighting and sweating hard, the oil comes back out.Shonie Carter is probably best known for this.

But most folks who either loose and/or look bad in a fight claim the other guy cheated.Tito Ortiz said Forrest Griffin greased his legs.Josh Thompson said Clay Guida was greased up.Tito and Vernon White both said Chuck Liddell gouged them in the eye.Phil Baroni claimed everything and the kitchen sink after his first fight against Evan Tanner. The list goes on.

All this just gives BJ an easy way out.BJ is always making excuses-"I seperated my rib, that's why I lost to Matt Hughes"-so now he can say he lost to GSP because "he was all greased up".

WB.

I don't think he will... he made some subtle complaints , but i'd be hard pressed to think that after such a lop sided fight he'll say it was because of the grease.

one2envy... I'm not impressed that you have george's number if that's what your trying to accomplish, and why would I want to call'm??

enough of the banter between you and me... lets talk fights.

Someone should open a genral MMA topic under sports so we can fill that instead of thread jacking this tired Penn/pierre thread.

“For the past several days I have been reading statements made by St. Pierre and Greg Jackson about our fight on January 31. St. Pierre claims that he is ‘not a cheater’ and that he and Greg Jackson will have ‘no problem with a rematch in the summer of 2009.’ To the untrained eye the grease might not look like much, but every grappler knows the effect that it has. Being able to apply your submissions and sweeps or just being able to hold on to your opponent to defend yourself from being hit is absolutely critical! There is a reason why you are not allowed to put grease anywhere on your body except for the area around your eyes. Because of the grease applied to St.Pierre’s Body the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s executive director, Keith Kizer has stated that the Penn-St. Pierre fight ‘definitely wasn’t fair.’ I hereby accept George St. Pierre and Greg Jackson’s challenge for a fight in the summer 2009. Lets call Dana now and set it up.”

will never happen.. Do ppl even care anymore.. Timing wise is See GSP vs Alves at ufc 100 in vegas in July. That will be his only fight in the summer. He will then prolly fight again in oct and dec, or just one more time for the year in nov.

BJ will prolly fight florian at either ufc 99 or 100 as well.

A rematch sounds good.

Who knows, maybe GSP will take up smoking and become a crack addict over the next few months and BJ will stand a chance. Cause grease or no grease I think he threw his legs up a grand total of ONCE during their last fight, but otherwise just laid there and got pounded on.

Honestly I would rather see Penn fight Florian, seeing that as being potentially much more competative, but if he wants to **** and make excuses I certainly don't mind watching another beat down.

It's actually not illegal to put vaseline on the body....the official rules say that you may put vaseline on the face and body but not in excessive amounts...hence this whole thing is stupid and pointless.
