| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 5/15/2009 1:12:42 AM | Aside from pushup bras, what have wearing body shapers and tummy tammers got to to do with men? I don't wear them because they are unbelievably uncomfortable to get into (think of trying to pull on a rubber tube that is about 5'' wide). But they do give a much better line to clothes, especially if you're wearing something tight or clingy. The pushup bras are for kids. Can't think of anything worse than my boobs sitting up around my shoulders - although they could come in handy as a chin rest... BDJ: Just one thing: not many women over 35 look all that fantastic with their hair pulled back in a ponytail, wearing sweat pants and no make up. Really. | |

Posted: 5/15/2009 8:19:55 PM | If you were blessed (cursed) with those big, low lying pendulous bosoms, a push up bra is kind of a given to even fit into the clothes he way they were made. Mine aren`t sagging alot more, they were born sagging, low on my torso. If I wear underwire support, I have killer cleavage. When I take the bra off, they hang naturally. I used to be self conscous about this until I saw Tyra Banks take off her support bra on her show. Guess what. Same deal. If they are bigger and real, alot of women arent going to have those upright perky puppies without a little support, much less even have them go where they are supposed to go in your blouse. So yeah, as uncomfortable as those support bras are, I wear them out in public.
As far as any men saying anything about my boobs, it`s all good. No complaints with bra without bra. As far as the other stuff, it`s just too uncomfortable. I ty to pick out clothes where I don`t need that stuff, or try to stay in reasonable shape so my man won`t run in horror when my clothes are off. That would be terrible.

Granted not everyone woman is a size 2 and using items to make you look smaller, thiner, etc isn't a good thing in my book. Gentics is something that can't be controlled, medicial conditions, and even some situations in life make us not look so great, ( AGE) is another.
If love is truly blind then someone will love you for everything bad, good, indifferent about you. So , I say again, why hide/cover/ it ?

Shapers are cool...when you want to be smooooooth.
But who wants to have all this paraphernalia to have to attend to when you go out?
Bah...it is what it is. Love it, hate it, leave it, embrace it...(and I can point out a few other things you can do with it but they are R rated) but for gawd sakes, don't hide it!

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 5/15/2009 11:01:53 PM | | I could care less if a woman uses body shapers or push up bras. Lie to me. Once we have sex it wouldn't matter if I knew the truth or not. In bed, you can't lie about your performance with sex. That much will always come to light once you do the deed. | |

What we wear under our clothes for work to smooth out our clothes and to look our best, may require different under garments than what we would wear on a date. I refuse to wear anything uncomfortable or confining. My underwire is comfortable and my shaper is very light and not tight at all.

Posted: 5/16/2009 4:13:02 PM | What I think is that the best approach is to exercise. have been doing the XBX plan for ten months now and am now at the goal fitness level for someone 20 years younger than I am. Still by my jeans at the teenagers store. Yup exercise is the answer.

Posted: 5/16/2009 5:44:52 PM | | And some people no matter the exercise they do, and how healthy they eat just have to deal with their fluff really. My family has a history of weight problems. I lost 17 lbs last year and that's all I've been able to lose but I can keep myself from getting bigger. As long as I can remember my smallest size has been a 14 and that's after playing soccer for two years, volleyball for one, and slow pitch softball the previous summer. I was in shape, but still had some fluff and never got small.

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 5/16/2009 5:55:43 PM | I have had 2 c sections. I do have a picture posted sans makeup in my sweatpants or whatever they want to call them now. I also have a hernia, lovely, but I do yoga every day just about. I try to eat right and take care of myself. Did I mention I was in a wheel chair for 6 months and had to learn to walk again once upon a time? Yeah, I know that it is hard work and that your body doesn't do things the same way, but you still can do the best you can do to stay in shape. I won't be running any marathons, but I am not uncomfortable with myself.
As far as pushup bras go, geez, I don't own a single bra without an underwire. I think they all push them up now days. Of course to get the bra on, you do have to pull them up too... Age and gravity have their forces.

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 5/16/2009 7:11:57 PM | Yes, I could go au natural but I would be self conscious when I walk or bend. Support garments are not just for those that some of you called lazy nor are they to deceive. My weight is not at issue when I wear supports under my dress. What is at issue is modesty. They just make sure every thing looks smooth and controls the jiggle factor.
If the dress calls for a slip - I wear a slip. If the skirt calls for a smooth line - I wear a body wrap similar to bike shorts. If the neckline has cleavage - I wear a bra. Women's clothing has evolved to almost bits of nothing. Rarely is it lined. Underclothes are necessary.
Some men's suits have built in modesty panels similar to underwear - never mind the shoulder pads. If you guys had to wear jersey pants or single layer linen pants - you'd be wearing something other than boxers or briefs. Men also wear undershirts - why? Cuz you don't want your moobs showing. Well hello! So do women, but because we have boobs they need accomodation.
It's not always about lying or deception. Don't even get me started on self-expression. I posted on this thread months ago and am amazed it's still going.

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 6/14/2009 3:57:34 PM | If I know its a highly recommended strip club, I will go once in a great while. I love to see just how far some woman will go for a dollar!!! To be honest though I haven't been to one in probably 3 years or so.
My pet peeve is when a I'm getting a woman naked and as her bra comes off, I see the bra is so thick that she only has about half of what I thought was there. Its kind of like going to a restaurant and getting a half empty plate. I then have to question all other premises I have made on the relationships status.

Be thankful that you were able to get any woman into bed to begin with.

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 9/20/2009 4:16:19 PM | I am reminded of the movie The Matrix. In the story, a personality can get downloaded from the actual world into the computer-program-world we think is real. In the actual world, people are dirty and hungry and life is hard. Plugged into the Matrix, the personality is free to look and dress according to what they call "residual self-image" that is an idealized, powerful version of the self. If a woman applies all the tools available to her, we can be sure she is bringing her physical body more in line with her residual self-image and is trying to maximize her powers. Is this really lying? As to when it comes off - a lot of men are just happy to get that far
I choose to do without the constant itching, discomfort, and sometimes real pain of the tools of American beauty. It is so sad that our commercial culture purposely instills body-loathing to stimulate buying. Unbeautiful, I still have a full, rich life, and sometimes great sex - so there, Maybelline!

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 9/20/2009 5:05:32 PM | I am fairly natural in the way I present myself to the world and I've even been told by ex's I don't look that different with or without makeup.
However since having children parts of me are definitely NOT the same as they were. talking about. I have been going to the gym for the last year with no special results. I did drop a dress size six months ago and kept it off but that's about it.
I recently saw a photo of Teri Hatcher, who apparently is 40 something, and her stomach was so flat and her boobs looked so lifted. She is a mum so I was fascinated by how she achieved those results. Now she claims she's into marathons etc. but I've spoken to people who used to play alot of sport and had kids and they have had alot of trouble getting back in shape.
So I'm thinking she's had the old tummy tuck and boob lift and unless I'm prepared to go through that for the sake of beauty a man had better learn to love me the way I am!! LOL

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 9/20/2009 6:38:26 PM | I don't see why I would not want someone to make an effort to look their best.
I mean maybe if it's taken to the extreme and they look radically different without that stuff...that's one thing, but I doubt it can really help THAT much.

| Body Shapers, Pushup Bras, Tummy Tammers - Lying or looking good? Posted: 9/20/2009 8:15:03 PM | The truth is, they don't help that much, nor slim you down a size as advertised. A shaper smooths things out so that your clothes fit nicer. I wear one daily and it is very comfortable because it is not tight. It smoothes, not squeezes. Some posters have very old fashioned ideas of what a shaper is, it is not a girdle.
I want to look my best everyday and if a man has an issue with that, then so be it.

She looks like a size 18 woman wearing spanx. There is no real difference. The only difference can be compared to what your hair looks like before you brush it and after you brush it. You just look a little neater. So no real difference.
