To me that's the most imprtant thing. We've all made mistakes in the past and shouldn't be judged for them if we're no longer repeating those mistakes. Other things to consider are how long have they been seeing each other and has she been true that whole time and how is he going to be able to handle it if they happen to run into one of the past flings. He should step back and think about this before he does something he'll possibly regret and question the rest of his life. | |

Everybody is different: some have casual sex, some can swing, some can only have sex if there are feelings involved. It's great that she was honest about his actual number of men she has slept with, but you cannot conclude that she is going to be honest. Of course, the guy could really be her 84th and final man in her life. It's also easy to say brush off the past and focus on the present and future, but sometimes old habits never die or could resurface.
How about when it is 4 or 5 years into the marriage and suddenly the man does not satisfy her, or if they start constantly fighting? The woman who has slept with 83 men might be more willing to explore the men at her work place for a little bit of sexual release. Maybe in her mind she wouldn't think of this as a big deal because if she isn't romantically interested in her co-worker, then there is no harm done. Afterall, she's just trying to get a little bit of pleasure.
For the guy, it's a much bigger deal. He never quite had the adventure like his fiancee did because he doesn't believe in having casual sex. Everytime he had sex, there were feelings involved. When there is a large discrepancy in the number of sexual partners, it usually means that there is a difference in the perception of sex between the two parties. While the guy links sex to making love, the woman likely does not hold sex in such regard. When you try something for the first time and you like it, especially to have done it many more times (not saying every one of her 83 times was casual), then it's easier for you to have the attitude of, "been there done that, and I'm frustrated with my husband so why not?".
Marriages don't work for a variety of reasons, and many don't even involve cheating. Some don't work out because the couple married too fast, perhaps during the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Some don't work out because the couple loved each other because of what they KNEW about each other. One of the major pieces of the puzzle was missing, and in this case it was the disclosure of the number of partners each had. You can't fault him for wanting to know if he wanted to know, just as you can't fault the girl for having sex with 83 partners. I'd say that both of them need to try to finish the puzzle before proceeding with marriage. | |

The past is not just water under the bridge, it can effect the future, kendawg above pointed out some reasond why. So I think partners should be honest with each other and stop trying to hide things. Fact of the matter is most of the people on here have probably slept with that many or more people, and just don't own up to it. People lie about how many sexual partners they have. And in all honesty, the only thing that matters about the whole thing is that she doesn't have any diseases, she is faithful to her fiance, and happy in her relationship. Her past sexual experience should have no bearing on their future, and obviously she should have never 'confessed' the number of her sexual partners, because it has the entire internet world up in arms and judging her as a slut, when she may just have been a wild person in her younger days, and may be a completely different person now.
What bothers me is the fact that her fiance found it necessary to broadcast her personal business to the world.
And by the way, just for curiosity's sake, how many sexual partners does one have to have to earn the title of 'Slut'?
