Posted: 1/12/2009 5:17:30 PM | Way back in '94, I went to a Def Leppard concert at Fiddler's Green in Denver. The same was true with the girl's room line stretching forever. I walked right in to the boy's room and bellied up. Then I was taken with surprise when I heard female voices coming from the stalls.
Initially, I was very surprised because it was a first. Then I thought to myself "Now those girls have balls." Never thought anything more about it for 14 plus years until I saw this thread.
I don't think the shoe would ever be on the other foot, and become a problem. Men won't wait in the ladie's line. I went to the California Jam in '74 at Ontario Motor Speedway in California. They had brought in multitudes of porta-potties. All the girls were lined up at the outhouses while all the guys were lined along the chain link fence. | |

Posted: 1/12/2009 5:22:41 PM | I went to I believe what was the Monsters of Rock in Sacramento with Megadeath, Creed, Stabbing Westward, etc. It was hot as all get out that day. There was a HUGE line of porta potties next to eachother spread out for about 50 yards or so. HUGE line.
These porta potties were the disgustingest things you've ever even thought about thinking about.
A couple came out of one that I was lucky enough to use next. I remember thinking, at 21, how in the hell someone could be so horney that that would be thought of as a good idea. I still just pray and hope they were using it at the same time, although that is rather gross to think about as well. | |

one reason why the line for the women's room is so long is that usually you have to wipe the pee from the last person off the seat. if everyone sat down, it wouldn't be a problem. the people who pee all over the seat are obviously straddling it. since we don't have a pointer to aim, the pee goes on the seat - and the floor. personally, I'd rather wipe it off the seat then have to step in it.
another reason is that women have periods and use the stall to change their feminine product. this takes time. also, whoever designed those stalls didn't leave enough elbow room! compound this with the problem of no hook to hang your purse, or shelf to rest it on. you don't want to put it on the wet floor. now you're trying to insert something, or change something and you only have two hands. this takes time.
also, women usually take small children in with them. so if the kid has to go, and you do, too, that quadruples the time spent in the stall.
finally, simple anatomy. women sit for everything. that means clothing must be pulled down and out of the way to allow the fanny to rest on the seat. if you're a straddler, I'm not sure what you're doing with the clothing. and please don't tell me.
I'm using the men's room, when and if I need to. I would peek first, however, and always keep the stall door shut!

I agree with post 30 that;

And that is the essence of the issue!
PS. What are the sociological or other type of "scientific" reasons for the Ladies' Room having so much traffic to begin with and the Men's not, in this day and age of gender equality? Eg do women drink more than men in bars? Or hold less?
Especially when it comes to a place frequented by primarily young people?
PS2. The rational solution would be to merge the two Rooms and make it co-ed (that was the case in my college dorm)!

I'm in a quandry now. Why do women get so pissed (pun) off when we leave the seat up? It sounds to me like they should be lifting it also . . .
And here I thought it was lazy men that were pissing all over the seat . . . | |

I'm old enough to say.....I've seen plenty of women pee, puke, fart, burp and sometimes even take a dump (yes guys, women do these things too).....and let me tell ya, there isn't anything sexy, exciting or romantic about watching them do it, so I say, if the lady needs to go......for god sakes, just get out of her way and let her go!
OP, the next time something like that happens, instead of standing there like an idiot....be a gentleman and go stand in front of them (with your back turned of course) and guard them from all the other crazy men in there!  | |

Posted: 1/12/2009 8:21:58 PM | Honestly? I cannot for a second believe that men would have such a big deal about this. Men pee anywhere and everywhere. Ever been to a ball game or concert? When there isn't a stall or urinal they will pee in the sink or anywhere accessible. Women, however, don't have that luxury. So if all yes fails, yes some of us with use the mens.
Perhaps this wouldn't be a big deal if the men's room was empty. However I have seen women use the men's room when there is a fair amount of men in a line waiting to use it. If I need use the men's room, then I shouldn't be stuck in line behind women that shouldn't even be there. | |

When you've got to go, you've got to go...
a long long line of women coming out of the lady's room. no line for the men's room but just one dude inside waiting his turn at the urinal.
Obviously those girls had to go real bad...
Was it right? probably not
Would this scenario ever be the other way around? probably not
Do those girls even remember invading your territory? probably not
Shit happens...a lot in the men's restroom. | |

-seen it several times, not a big deal -most country gals dont have a prob with it, will just drop and pee wherever, last time the ladies room flooded at the bar, bouncer was suppose to be watching the mens room door -however he was an idiot, as he was directing women into the crowded mens room. some were doing the pee pee dance, couldn't wait any longer for the only stall -backing up to pee in the urinals. -kind of interesting trying to do your own business with a strange women next to you trying to pee "hello? ummmm do you come here often?" (if you seen one of em, you've seen them all)
NO! we dont have a tampon machine in here...

Posted: 1/12/2009 9:00:21 PM | I admit I've gone to a men's room before. Sometimes you just can't help it, as there can be a 10-15 minute wait for the womens' stalls and no wait at all for the mens. I don't know why building designers don't take into account that it just takes women longer to "do their thing", especially when you start having to deal with tampons, etc. Why they don't plan for more womens stalls is beyond me.
I find this particularly a problem at older sports arenas / stadiums, since they were built at at time when the common thought was that "most women folk don't watch sports". So there are only 5 womens stalls for every 8-10 mens. | |

We'd just got off one of the rides in the carnival and the pressure was almost unbearable. We went to the restroom building, didn't notice the little dinky sign said womens, no line, no clue, no care, just had to go. We walked inside, wall to wall women, some at the sinks, some going to the sinks, some on their butts as you might expect, and the chatter, OMG. It became instant quiet, it occured to us at the same time where we were, did an about face in step, in unison(couldn't have been done any better if practiced), and out the door we went, we busted out laughing and couldn't stop, the look on their faces were priceless, as ours must have been too, as they had busted out laughing as well that could be heard clear into the mens room over our own. | |

do you find this behavior acceptable? has it happened to you? any random thoughts on the subject of girls invading the boys room or what would happen if it were THE OTHER WAY AROUND?
I've been several places where the ladies used the men's room. Not a big deal to me and I never thought twice about it. Generally it takes women longer to go because of biology, and many places do not account for that when they design the buildings and put in the same number of toilets for men and women.
I just look at it as you gotta go, you gotta go. Why wait in a long line when all the stalls in the men's room are open?
And as far as the other way around... I've never been somewhere that the men were all lined up and the women weren't. | |

As far as men using the ladies room... I would think he was a pervert. I have yet to see any event where there was a long line for the mens room and not for the ladies. So I think a guy trying to use on of the stalls in the ladies room is just some pervert hoping to get is kicks or something. | |

hmm, there are situations (like one-or two-person washrooms) where the men's is occupied/door locked and the women's is not.
