| What Would Do If Your Date Said To You, I'm Use To Dating Someone Better Looking Than You? Posted: 1/24/2009 3:35:21 PM | you think the damage was done? really? the poor **stardd maybe the dude was nervous and meant to say..."I'm not used to dating anyone as pretty as you."
No? Ok....moving on
I'd probably say..."Yeah, and so how did all of those dates work out?"
We've probably all been with the drop dead beauties, and the pretty boys at one time or another...but eventually, that gets old, in the end, I think we most likely hone in on people as average looking as we are..ya know?
but that's a good one Palmer...except, I probably would have stuck around for a bit, just to see how the rest of their date/blunder went...haha.

Why score points over that sort of person? WHY BOTHER? Because it is one of the most insensitive asshatesque thing to say and it loans itself to witty retorts. If it were me, I would probably hang in there, order the most expensive thing on the menu and thank him for the lovely dinner and perhaps let him know that he may be used to prettier women but there must be something about him that doesn't make them stay. Or...I would tell him right after the comment, let me free you up so that you can find one, and wish in luck with that task for with his lack of tact, he will need it and leave. Dang OP, I really wish you would have hung in there longer to see what transpired.

So people, how would you react if your date said that they were use to dating someone better loking to you?
I had a similar experience on a first date a couple of years ago. In my opinion the guy was kind or boring, he wasn’t really holding a conversation, he seemed to be looking at just about everything and everyone in the room but towards me, this was after the beverages but before ordering dinner.
Just as that thought of “oh boy, this may be a long night” went through my mind, he blurted out something about preferring to date “smaller” women. He was certainly no stud muffin, he was alright and wasn‘t what I would categorize as slender. This of course was probably the reason he really wasn‘t “talking“ to me much, his non-interest and lack of interaction led to my being unimpressed .
Me, being the proverbial smart azz that I can be at times said “Whew, thank God, I was worried I might actually have to stay longer and be bored to death.” The waitress was just walking up, probably noticed the ‘tension” and asked if everything was alright. Mr. Wonderful was kind of staring, blinking his eyes and I said to her “Oh he’s fine he is just a little stunned that this fat assed broad is leaving”. You would think that would be the end of it. However, as I am driving home, he calls me on my cell and asked if we could go somewhere else and have a “drink” (the place we were at didn’t serve alcohol). I said “No thanks, trust me whether you are drunk or sober I am not going to be any thinner”. The funniest part is he saw several photos of me and I always state up front and very clear that I am a bigger lady to make sure they have no problem and I met him sight unseen.

Posted: 1/24/2009 7:46:47 PM | | I would have excused myself from the table on the pretense of going to the ladies room...gone to the my waitress, ordered 4 of the best decadent desserts to 'GO' ( of course on his tab).....and disappeared into the night. Boot home, call my 4 bestest girlfriends to come over...put on the coffee and enjoy the rest of the night with the 'girls'.

Men have told me on dates that they did not like me and I would have to pay for my dinner (we had previously discussed this and I offered to pay for first meet meals, but they always said no prior to meeting me).....strange how so many people seem to expect this fantasy person to appear who looks and acts nothing like the person with whom they were cooresponding. Guess that I would say "No reason for me to stay here, goodbye" and leave.

It's fine if you meet someone in person and don't really like them, but to come right out and say something like that is just plain hurtful, especially in a public place. He could have handled things differently, there was no reason to make her feel uncomfortable.

Posted: 1/25/2009 12:39:57 PM | | I think I would have been tempted to say to the guy "that's funny because I was thinking the same thing about you but wasn't sure how to tell you. jerk. I can't believe that someone would have the nerve to say that to someones face, but there is no way in hell that i could just sit there and take it I would have to say something, if i did stay for dinner, it would be the most expensive thing on the menu thats for sure. lol

Since the OP said later that the woman was fairly attractive and the guy was acting tense, I'm pretty sure what happened is the guy listened to too much advice from the stupid dating 'gurus." I'll admit, I looked at some of their websites for some tips. Most of the advice they give is crap, and this guy was trying to follow one of their tips (even though he did it poorly).
The theory is that beautiful women get called beautiful all the time and that just another guy commenting on how good they look is a turn off rather than a turn on. The idea is to subtly suggest you don't find the woman amazingly good looking, but are attracted to her stunning personality. The problem is most women aren't stupid and will know that you are lying if you try. Or you just do it totally wrong and come off sounding like a total douche.

I laugh at most things anyway but this would have me laughing so hard my mascara would run and my belly would hurt. I love when people blurt things that are in their head but don't actually mean to say out loud. Much like rune, I would be more curious than anything else and likely have a lot of questions I would need answered before I decided whether or not I would be offended. Although odds are I wouldn't be offended as much as I would be amused by his blunder.
Wonder if it was a blind date or one from the internet, a situation where they had never seen each other face to face before.
