| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/9/2009 1:39:57 PM | Lots o' interest in this! Cool! I finally got my hands on "195 lakes of the fraser valley, volume 2, Dewdney to Hope" I'll go through it and make note of areas of interest..... Of the Provincial Parks in the Lowermainland, Rolley is by far my favourite. Generally pretty quiet, You can fish, canoe, kayak, swim(without freezing to death!) walk about or just lay around and do nothing worth while....it's also reasonably close to stores, pubs, gas stations etc. Keep those suggestions coming! This could be sooooooo much fun! | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/9/2009 4:52:50 PM | Have been to Rolley Lake, before, nice campground, kind of bit secluded, and your neighbors are not quite like next door, in your face to you.
BUT, if you can go to the back bush, out in mother natures playground, near a lake, where is it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, out of the reach of cicilization, even better still.
If you are doing real camping, then leave the motor homes and RV's at home, cuz, that is like taking your house with you, on wheels.
If ya need something of that calibre, then take a truck with a camper on it then.
Besides, motor homes and RV's are a pain in the butt to park, and hard to manuver, when parking them.
Where a simple truck and camper, not a problem, just pull right in and park.
No fuss, no muss, and no swept.

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/9/2009 6:47:52 PM | Not to rain anyone's parade,,,but those local lakes near the Mission, M.Ridge areas are sometimes not the nicest places to be during the long weekends if you are looking for any form of peace and quiet or even times when you need sleep. (Think local ying yangs here) Don't know if you can book or reserve in any of those forestry sites,,,thus the problem with the wannabe campers. It does make for good entertainment thou.
It's getting tougher every year to get "big groups" together without having someone there to come by and "quiet it down" for others. Thus the reasons I go where I go.

Your so funny Walts... You always give me a chuckle.... On a long weekend with regards to campsites, there isn't ANY WHERE in the lower mainland/fraser valley that is peaceful or quiet. Having been to 3 POF long weekend Campouts, I can testify to that . BUT, that being said, they sure were fun! especially when hosted by Campboatfish and the lovely Maid Marian. Social, fellow POF'ers helping each other with their campsites, the most incredible pot luck dinners!!! campfires, guitar playing, singing, jokes, laughter, glowing outhouses.....FUN At every POF campout, a "Quote book" was kept. Whenever someone said something that could have been taken out of context /funny, it was written in the book. Below is some of the things that were written in the book and posted after one POF campout....
Here the quotes and one liners that were overheard, remember these are taken totaly out of context
Why is my tongue numb
I can create a new position for you
So how did you get that 19” up to where it needed to be
If it wasn’t meant to be eaten, then why is it shaped like a taco
Keep the weight off the tongue
Did you get it off
“I lost my hole again “ Hang on
All I saw over the end of the bed was her head bouncing up and down and her ears perking up too
“the van is full of ash” ‘Hash’?? Ash you ass
Chug that watermelon down
Did he throw up??
Oh,,, I lost a rubber
Lead me to the outhouse
Lets go tip it over
Quick and easy, that’s the way I like it
I’m worried,, the outhouse is glowing
What ever you want to ride is ok
Look I see gay people
If I was gay I might get laid more
Look at what happens when you don’t have a camera
When you cant ride a horse, ride a rabbit
Menage eh Moi
You don’t want it,,,don’t provoke it
Can you move that ugly light?? Why, is it picking up on you
It wont hang on my thing anymore
Hi I’m Luke ,,,,,Luke Warmwater
Hey is it in there??? Ya but now I lost the flashlight
that’s ok ,,,,you will come for sure next time
What ever is short, fast, and gets her attention
I will help if you do all the moving
The reason for not talking during __________is I might have to stop
Once I’m in the mood don’t stop me Ok sounds good
You gotta like how clean this shaft comes
This is how I do it.,,,, it works for me
It goes up and down in about 15 minutes
I cant get your ball undingled
Why are you crying?? It would be too painful to explain
Ok, shake it a few more times now No my wrists are weak
that’s the one with the big hole in the bottom
Hey, can you screw this???
In a very gravely slow spoken voice, “I wanna get laid”
Heard the next morning in an even more gravely voice
‘I wanna get laid” Oh is that your best _______________ imitation??
Spank me again ,,,,,and again
go girl, give him that lap dance
I think she sprained my wrist dancing on my head
What is she chewing on ??? A bone ???
I still have the same thong from 5 years ago
The short version is, I begged enough that she finally caved
Half an hour of begging is not foreplay How about now
83 inches long gives you 6 inches to play with
I have slept in a hole
I cant wait for the next trip, it is going to be fabulous

However.. just keep in mind that in May every graduating class in BC will be out there camping somewhere as well.. book early and bring ear plugs..

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 12:47:45 PM | I've spent many a night freezing in a tent with the omni present rock/branch sticking into me...much too old(or is it spoiled? ) these days ...to each there own. Oh yeah and Hicks starts taking reservations at 9:00 am Feb 23....... | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 1:31:14 PM | ^^^great news OP^^ book it and they will come .. simple as that! I love Hicks Lake.. close to home and I am not willing to travel a great distance to camp with friends only to be booted out by kamp kops. NOT!! Noise bylaw B4 9 p.m. really??NOT group of voices carry yes... that's true.... There r many camping nuts amongst the school of fish. i've done both of tenting and rving it so it doesn't matter to me. Rving is more comfortable that's for sure. \ Tenting is fun as it lets u get down right front and center with nature. Remember to string up the tarps first and foremost b4 the rain sets in, regardless if there is not a cloud in the sky! Lessons well learnt! | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 1:45:31 PM | ^^^^^^^ LMAO, yes that was a lesson well learned I didn't have the heart to take pics ....LOL | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 7:09:44 PM | Hicks lake is an awesome spot. I remember taking the kids there over 25 years ago. Lake is nice and warm in the summer, and it is awesome that there is a trail that goes all around the lake and even over to the other lake (it is Deer Lake, if memory serves me). Hey, do they have flush toilets at Hicks yet?.
Hicks lake has always been my favorite camping spot, so close to home. If things have not changed too much I recall the campsites were roomy and your neighbour was not too "in your face" and there was lots of forest for kids to play hide and seek, etc.
Aww yes.. good advice.. when ever camping in BC, always put your tent up, then the tarp... for sure. Sometimes it even helps to shade from the sun and not just keep out the rain. Happy Camping everyone

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 7:25:26 PM | Hey un-leashed I have also camped at Hicks years ago when I was married. It's an awesome spot for camping, wonderful trails (yes, the trails go over to Deer Lake) and my 2 sons loved it.... To the OP, Hicks is good , especially if you can book it in FEB, then post the event The general rule is POST it and they will COME!!! I have at least two more people that will share a site with me.... | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/10/2009 10:23:29 PM | and I as well have pple to share my site and need to book maybe 2 more other sites. After all i have these big arss tarps that can cover an RV. I'm getting stoked pple so GET ER DONE, go big or go home! | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/11/2009 3:55:40 PM | | Hicks starts taking bookings for group sites on Feb 23 at 9 am....May take a run up there this weekend and 'scope it out. I think you can walk about during off season. Should check that I guess... | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/11/2009 10:45:09 PM | does Hicks have a big group campsite, away from the other campers? Seems to me like we walked through it years ago and it looked pretty nice, and private too. Unless things have changed over the years.... as sometimes they do...
Great to have camping to look forward to, when they are still forcasting snow..
I think Hicks is worth booking, a truly lovely spot, as I recall

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/12/2009 6:18:29 PM | There is one group campsite available at Hicks Lake, and is separated from other campsites. This site can accommodate from 15-50 people. There is a covered shelter available. There are no barbeque attachments on the picnic tables.
Group Camping Fee: $15.00 per party / night
I take it that means a minimum of 15 people....
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/13/2009 10:15:18 PM | Thanks vintageguy.. Years ago the big group site was only reserved for church groups.. do we qualify?.. lol.
Seriously, have they opened up to the general public, with reservations (of course.)
Again, Hicks lake is my most favorite lake. Wonderful.... they have a beach and boat launch for just the use of day visitors. Lots of hiking and exploring.. Fishing is pretty good as well
Great place to camp and lots of hiking to be done.. Water is fairly warm as it is quite shallow and there are a few "islands" to visit if you have a power boat or are very good at floating an air mattress. Love that lake.. brings back lots of happy memories with my small kids.
Ummm do they still have outhouses with no showers???
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/14/2009 9:06:38 AM | I think near the hot springs is a great idea then if it happens to be crappy weather you can hang in the warm waters. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/14/2009 9:12:11 AM | | Have pof camping weekends included children or is it an adults only event? | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/14/2009 9:21:03 AM | Some POF camp outs have included children in the past, but for me personally my kids are grown so i don't go to those. I'm not sure if this particular event is adult only. You could always organize one of your own family camp outs.
vvvvv I guess you just went with the wrong people then .....LOL

Have pof camping weekends included children or is it an adults only event? Hi Butterfly In the past, the camping events that I attended have always included children and they were usually better behaved then the adults were!!!

Perhaps it speaks more of the driver trying to park it?????
