| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/27/2009 8:48:09 PM | there's a nice little campground, just outside of Chilliwack, on the way to the place where we went rafting 2 summers ago, I have no idea what it is called, it's right on the other side of the bridge, before the road turns East. I'll see if i can remember where exactly. It's a very small BC Forestry campground, only $10/night. And right on the river | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 2/28/2009 7:50:33 PM | Vintage.. Did you have any luck booking at Hicks lake?
I was also trying to book Hicks Lake for my group. I called at 10:00 on Feb 23... lines were so busy that all I got was a message saying "leave a number & we'll call you back".. they called me back two days later.. they were booked solid every weekend May - September.
They said that Alice Lake reservations would begin March something.
Did you have more luck than I did?

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/1/2009 8:45:09 AM | Booked solid eh? I couldn't get through either, mind I was at work so couldn't call as often as I would have liked. Alice lake is nice, though I've never been able to get a campsite there either. Could try Rolley lake I guess. There is no group campground as far as I know but there is some large campsites that would be suitable for a few campers. Forest service sites can be good, depending on access, the local yahoo factor, etc. Lightening lake in Manning park is not bad, pretty busy there too though. I'm pretty much open to anywhere myself. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/1/2009 10:32:40 AM | What about Thurston Meadows.... Previous years we have had POF camp outs there. | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/1/2009 3:47:27 PM | | I wonder if a day trip to Hicks Lake would make it easier to book some spots? While you were there vintage, did you look into bookings? | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/2/2009 2:38:54 PM | Golden Ears park is equally as nice and close to home. I'd rather go to a place where they more foilage and ammenities such as running water as I don 't like to treck it in. I'm drving a smaller car this year so that either means needing to pare down on bringing my camping gear out and no passagers or get myself a Westfalia of sorts. OMFG! | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/4/2009 3:33:26 AM | or get gerry b to give you a ride ,he has a F350 crew cab 4X4 and if we are lucky we can borrow my sisters 27ft trailer or not i have a tent too. just have to watch out for the wild life when your roughing it. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/4/2009 8:17:42 PM | The only wildlife we need to watch for is "US" !! Can't wait to camp !! I will dust off my camping Tiara | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/8/2009 11:46:50 AM | | Didn't look into bookings aside from the aforementioned telephone call. First come first served works if you can get there earlier in the week. Either means paying for a site up front for the weekend including the day or so ahead of time and leaving it vacant or taking a day or two off work and staying for a extra day or two. In that scenario proximity to work etc is more important as I, for one, am not inclined to commute from say Hick's to work in Surrey. Major pita. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/8/2009 11:52:49 AM | erg everytime I think I'll come over and camp with you all there, the wonderful BC Ferries company ups their rates AGAIN..... le sigh.

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 3/8/2009 11:40:40 PM | I loved camping but have only gone camping here in Canada twice in the last 14 years. Both times were one night only with friends. Once on Van Island and once east of Maple Ridge. I used to have a few good sleeping bags (-25 deg) but they went missing and I never got them back. Now all I have here is a new one which is only 0 deg and am thinking it wouldn't be very warm out there at night in a tent (which I don't have one). Maybe I should leave it for all you younger campers. Maggie

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 4/20/2009 6:20:58 PM | Just so everyone is aware I believe most places start taking reservations for May as of April1st so we had better figure out where we are thinking of going? or at least maybe narrow the campground options? yay! here we come! | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 4/20/2009 6:34:09 PM | I'm going camping with my family and already have my site booked. So wherever you POFers decide to go pitch your tent, have a fun, safe May long weekend. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 5/2/2009 11:33:23 PM | | Just wondering if anyone has camped at the wilderness sites at the north end of Alouette Lake....It is fabulous but you can only get there by boat but that makes it private...sooooo nice!! | |
|
| Camping get togethers? Posted: 6/14/2009 10:24:43 AM | | Is anyone planning any POF camping trips in late August? I would love to do some camping this summer and I have the last two weeks of August to do so. | |

| Camping get togethers? Posted: 6/15/2009 7:42:06 PM | Seems like there is enough intrest but requires a spark to get it going. May I suggest: Three or more people on this thread get togeather and plan a camping weekend. Invite any p.o.fers who are interested, have a good time and take a lot of pictures to post. Once everyone notices how much you enjoyed yourselves , others will follow. But first you have to start a small camping club to get the ball rolling. Try to pick a camping theme. ie. Park Canada R.V.Park &Tenting in Tawassen is on the same lot as the biggest waterslide park in Vancouver. A Watersports (no,no ,no) and camping weekend would sound like fun to many especially if it is hot. . Golden Ears Provincial Park is secluded with a beautiful lake mountains and forest. They rent canoes and kayaks. It is close to Maple ridge and a pub. This campground will attract those who enjoy the canoeing, campfire and hiking trails experience. Derby Reach campground is right in Langley and many sites are right on the Fraser River. Avery nice campground but it fills up early. Kilby Provincial Park is small but has a nice sandy beach and beautiful mountain scenery but you are getting close to Harrison now. If your group is large enough you can secure all or most of the campground for yourselves. These are just some examples. I know you are going to ask why don`t I host a camp event. I would but I work on weekends day and night and get the week off. My camping is in Anacortes W.A. during the week. I think P.O.F. camping clubs would be interesting and each club could invite members from other areas. Hope everyone gets out camping and has a great time. | |
