| Where Did it Go? Posted: 2/11/2009 8:47:37 PM | We are lucky to have a President who has put a team together to address the issues facing us and who has the energy and intelligence to get the job done some team. the "only guy that can handle the job" working on tarp tanked the markets the second he opened his mouth. and some jackasses in the mainstream media actually tried to represent today's 50 point market "rally" (against yesterdays 380+ point drop) as a sign of confidence. right... how much has the dow lost since this guy was elected?
i do like how he went from "hope" and "change" to fear mongering and doom and gloom. nothing like instilling panic and fear into the already nervous masses to get pelosi's wet dream of a bill passed. i sure hope selling his soul to these vultures in return for getting to be the first minority president was worth it. well, he owns it now. and he's already back peddling about how we won't even see anything meaningful from this for a year. ouch...the adoring masses will not be pleased. because anyone with money, the risk takers and the folks that start the small businesses that employ most of the people in this country are going to hang back and see how all this shakes out. simple physics tells you, nothing trickles up.
oh, and this little tidbit. the debt on this package is 4 times greater than the largest amount the treasury has ever auctioned (about $455 billion, i think). and the pool of buyers not only has shrunk from around 38 to 17 but has cut, almost in half, what they are willing to bid on. when asked what would happen if the auction on this debt produced no buyers, treasury responded that they didn't know, that had never happened. but the markets will know. results are posted 90 seconds after an auction is closed. so the markets will know before the president that this country is in a financial crisis that may very well crash the market. at this very least, the debt gets picked up by the american taxpayers through higher taxes and all citizens deal with run away inflation.

| Where Did it Go? Posted: 2/12/2009 4:47:12 AM | | this country is owned and run by the Class A board of directors at the Fed (a private bank) and their Wall Street old boy network. it's nice to think that Obama or any other president you could possibly imagine would actually make a real difference to the financial system and thus to the economy, but ultimately he is going to do some version of their bidding. the unmistakable stink of the Fed and Wall Street banksters is all *over* this so-called "stimulus" package. meanwhile all the big bank CEOs are managing to get bonuses even when their institutions are completely in the crapper. hey i'd like half a $ mil as a reward for negative results too. hello? is this not painfully clear enough for anyone yet? the whole thing is a shell game of preposterous and surreal proportions. | |

Doom and Gloom? you mean like the tactics Bush and Company used to get us into the war in Iraq? Or maybe the doom and gloom you personally forecast There is a difference between the truth and just plain old out right lying. Our country is in a recession created by oil speculation and the housing market. The same good ole boys as you referenced them were involved up to their ears, so the bankers and Wall Street CEO’s made it big time at the expense of the American tax payer and now we have an American president who is going to attempt to undo the damage caused by the greed of the Bankers and Wall Street CEO’S
But let’s move from the past into the present and talk about your idea’s on what should be done to revive our economy? May be you think doing nothing is the right way to go which to me means you have not been affected by the down turn of the economy, if you were out of work or had to take a job at Wal Mart maybe your thought process would be different.
Explain to me exactly how you see this economic down slide stopping or reversing itself if we wait, or if you have another idea on how OUR country can recover explain it.

The past is a good predictor of the future and one thing we can be sure of is that trickle down did not work for the majority of Americans. Do you anticipate that anyone can wave a magic wand and have our economy recover in a short period of time? Undoubtedly there are those among us who would love for the president to say we will see results in a few months, but try to remember we are dealing with an intelligent man, to intelligent to promise things he can not deliver on, imagine the field day some folks would have if he said 6 months or a year and the economy had not made substantial gains in that period of time
Hang in there have a little faith the future looks bright ahead

I think he is being as straight forward as he can be, he is not promising us a rose garden
Right, that was before the election!

President Obama continues to be up front no rose garden has been promised

ground zero on this mess is liberal democrats upping the quotas for home loans.
May be you think doing nothing is the right way to go which to me means you have not been affected by the down turn of the economy
this is exactly the way to go. the only thing that the government should be doing is providing some safety nets and benefits for the long term unemployed and starting a special bank for struggling homeowners which can be phased out, just like the one that was started during the depression. the economy is already on an up swing ON IT'S OWN, though it may take about a year to really get rolling. at this point, obama's simply trying to shovel this money into the economy before anyone notices that it's starting to get better without government intervention.
if you were out of work or had to take a job at Wal Mart maybe your thought process would be different.
i lost my job over a year ago and when i couldn't find another job to replace it i MADE a job for myself and took care of my own insurance and benefits. and while i have been doing that i've continued to pay my bills. it's called personal responsibility.
as for working at walmart, if that's what i had to do to take care of myself and my family, that's what i would do. if i had to dig ditches, that's what i would do. if i had to clean toilets, that's what i would do.
trickle down did not work for the majority of Americans who exactly did this not work for? this is the only way to create jobs, wealth and prosperity. what does wealth redistribution create ?
Hang in there have a little faith the future looks bright ahead wel, i don't know what this string of platitudes is meant to convey, but it sounds like the sunshine that obama was trying to pump up everyone's ass BEFORE he got elected.

Let’s see we have a senate and a congress made up of independents, republicans and democrats we have had two presidents presiding over the country since the Graham Bill allowing deregulation which made it possible for the bankers, Wall Street traders and speculators to run amuck driving up home values and oil prices. But let’s blame it on the democrats.
It’s a good thing we have a President who is intelligent enough not to play games, I see the reason that the republicans can not embrace the stimulus package it’s a no winner for them if the package works they face bleak election consequences in 2010, if they do not support it and it fails to start the economy they can point that out in 2010.
the economy is already on an up swing ON IT'S OWN, though it may take about a year to really get rolling. at this point, obama's simply trying to shovel this money into the economy before anyone notices that it's starting to get better without government intervention.
You are just pushing buttons with this if the economy is showing improvement it’s just more of the same Wall Street games or it shows the confidence that people have in our new administration.
This package will work and it’s success will have a huge impact on the 2010 elections 19 of the 36 seats are held by republicans, election day will be a bad day for them.
Looking out my window I see the sun shining brightly

| Where Did it Go? Posted: 2/19/2009 3:18:18 PM | | OK, I guess I kinda wonder about the "infrastructure jobs" or "green jobs" Obama hopes to create. If you worked at Intel or Microsoft for the last 20 years, are 40 or 50 something, maybe once in a while went to a gym to pump up for the ladies but otherwise were a sedentary office worker, how are you going to operate a jackhammer in 100 degree heat and 98 percent humidity without doing permanent damage to yourself??? Maybe that's part of the plan...if you die or are permanently disabled, that's another job that comes available... | |

I am sure your kidding or just being sarcastic, infrastructure requires more then just the men/women who are doing the physical work “just for your information most craftsmen/women spend four year apprenticeships learning their trades” building a bridge creates many jobs not just the workers physically involved so yes a sedentary office worker will enjoy job opportunities .
“Green jobs” will offer employment opportunities across a wide spectrum of vocations and the employment opportunities should offer long term good paying work

| Where Did it Go? Posted: 2/20/2009 3:35:08 PM | I've been away for a lil bit but somethings never seem to change on here.
bush did know that there were problems but remember, the democrats have controlled the house since '04. this is under his watch but it freddie mac, fannie mae and democrats legislating quotas for home loans that's ground zero in this whole mess. you should really get over this bush bashing obsession and start trying to get some facts.
Democrats gained control in 06' not 04'! And even then they only had slim majority in the Senate (51), which is hardly filabuster proof.
So much for "facts", lol
Look at the brightside though, now the Dems have 58 in the Senate, by Nov. 2010 they will break 60 and put an end to the "Party of NO" obstructionists the Useless GOP has become.
As for oversight, everyone with a computer and internet service will oversee this new stimulous package for the people, by the people!
Alot better than Bush's "for the banks/corporations at the expense of the people".

| Where Did it Go? Posted: 2/20/2009 5:15:17 PM | "Before the election he was promising a rose garden"
No... look back... he didn't. He knew this was not going to be a quick fix. He knew it would get worse before it got better. I would not have voted for him if he had promised a rose garden. He promised a lot of hard work to get through the mess the Republicans made of everything. Didn't take a year to get this bad... won't take a single year to get back to good. Won't take a single program or single stimulus package. We are still only just finishing month 1 and we have a lot more things to do to turn this Rpublican wreckage around.
