THIS YEAR SUCKS REALLY SUCKS . SINCE I WAS A KID IVE NEVER SEEN A LOW TEAM WIN A GRAND PRIX . CAN IMAGINE . FOOTWORK . OR JORDAN . OR THE PROST CAR WINNIN A RACE . NOT TO MENTION BRAWN ??????? . I DIDNT MIND A BIT OF A CHANGE BUT NOT THIS . HAVING A LOW TEAM WIN HERE AND THERE IS NICE . BUT SEEING THAT BY ROUND 5 . A BRWAN HAS WON 4 GP'S ALREADY ' THATS UNHEARD OF . IN THE PAST 2009 WORST SEASON EVER IN F1'S HISTORY
With respect, thats complete b0llox (in my opinion) . There are new rules this season, and new rules always puts everyone on an even footing at the beginning of the season.
But how you can call Brawn GP a "low" team is beyond me - this is the Honda team as was. This car has been 12 months in development. This team is headed up by the most respected team manager and tactician in the business. This team is lightyears away from the efforts of Jordan, Footwork, or Prost, Eddie Jordan said as much on his spot on the BBC coverage. You cannot compare. It has a World Championship winning engine.
The other "low" team - Red Bull - has significant backing from the Austrian owner of the Red Bull drinks company. This is the first 100% Adrian Newey car in several years, following his enforced sabatical from (I think) McLaren - and Newey is the best designer and aerodynamacist in the business so its no surprise that this is a front running car, with another cracking engine.
World Champions McLaren have lost the direction of Ron Dennis, and as for Ferrari, all they need are red noses and clown outfits to complete their image this year, have been slowly slipping since a certain Ross Brawn left ..... This year we are seeing who can drive and who cant - Hamilton can, performing wonders in a crap car... Button can, smooth as silk.... Webber can, finally got a car that can perform for him... Raikkonen cant be arsed, Massa is trying, but Vetel is the surprise - he has matured into a very good driver - Champion. Next Year.
This has shaken up the entire grid, and IMO its the BEST season for a long time, not the worst............
Monaco is a unique race - form goes out of the window, its not representative of the rest of the season. Interesting, but not very exciting ....
and do you know ... I'm pretty sure Jordan HAVE won a race, Arrows almost won until Hill stopped two laps to go..

| Formula One Posted: 5/19/2009 2:45:15 PM | "Never mind the bullox;" to the english gentleman. William Taylor did the 50th anniversary Lotus Book. My U.S.Europa was featured in the book. Clive Chapman and Taylor signed a copy for me. I am honored/ and humbled. My car/ my name and acknowledgement are listed with many thanks. The red bull team also was the old jag team that ran the fords that Lotus had such great success with. Cheers ! We just all need to get along.

. . BESIDES THE PRESENT TIME . TELL ME HAS A LOW TEAM EVER WON A CHAMPIONSHIP FROM 1950 TO 2008 ????? HMM
Well, you DID say Grand Prix at first...
SINCE I WAS A KID IVE NEVER SEEN A LOW TEAM WIN A GRAND PRIX . CAN IMAGINE . FOOTWORK . OR JORDAN . OR THE PROST CAR WINNIN A RACE . NOT TO MENTION BRAWN
but as you have changed the question to Championship, try this :
Tyrell.
With Jackie Stewart
World Champion Three times
Not bad for a team based in a shed........ can't get much lower than that.
You have to realise that at some point or other in their history, EVERY team could be considered a "low" team ... even McLaren when the team evolved out of Bruce McLaren's old team and Ron Dennis's Project Four Racing ... Even Ferrari had to begin sometime when Alfa and Maserati were top dogs .
But no, you're quite right - I'm not a Formula 1 fan I have only been watching it for 45 years .........

| Formula One Posted: 5/20/2009 10:47:27 AM | FIAT IS A 90% SHARE HOLDER IN FERRARI. MAYBE MORE. ANYONE EVER OWNED A BUG/ FROG-EYE ? OR A FERRARI.
LETS GET BACK TO F1. YA GONNA WATCH WHO EVER IS OUT FRONT WIN F1 ? OR THE GUYS WITH THE BIG FEET AND RED RUBBER NOSE'S GO ROUND IN A CIRCLE ON SUN ?
Doc | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/20/2009 3:53:52 PM | Agreed. Lets get back to F1
So - who is gonna stand on the top step of the podium on Sunday in Monaco ?
My money is on Vettel in the Red Bull , especially if it rains ...
Warehouse - cool story about your Europa : does yours have the Renault engine that the UK ones came with ?
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/20/2009 9:13:38 PM | RENAULT; 1300lbs/ the tightest car on a corner i ever owned. like glue. who ever is on the front and doesn't break will win. that's a given there. i'm sure i'll still watch even though it's never a race. one time i had a chance to go to the brick yard at indy/ didn't have tickets/ said i didn't care. i just wanted to stand out side and listen. even though they cut the revs this year i still can't imagine really hearing the sound. i was watching pro-bikes/ fun to watch also/ but i kept thinking i can't hear their screaming. i kept yelling at the tv to turn the track volume up. you remind me of david hobbs/(sp) and his racing days. it's all still good. the bickering has and always will continue in f1. that's part of their jobs. sometime ya win/ most of the time ya don't/ what to do? pout about about it. that's f1. ferrari had a nice run. a real nice run. jeezzzz if ya don't have a winning year the world won't end. lets enjoy ! and listen. turn up the volume !!!

| Formula One Posted: 5/21/2009 3:41:24 AM | A good car is good everywhere so i guess it will be the usual uspects at the front. Hopefully Ferrari will be at the front and Raikonen is motivated.
Havent owned a Ferrari. had a few V8 muscle cars though, quick.
And yes Jordan won races. Hill won 1 Hienz Harald Frentzen won 2 Fisichela won 1

| Formula One Posted: 5/21/2009 1:37:55 PM | were not the the brawns the old jags/ or were they the red bulls. still same cars with up-grades from what i heard last week.
Doc | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/23/2009 7:58:02 AM | | Monaco .. Button on pole , Hamilton dropped it at Rascasse I think, in Q1, Massa dropped it on an out lap .. Raikonnen will get the hole shot with the KERS system, and may also win it from second on the grid .... | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/23/2009 8:09:42 AM | thanx for the up-date ! speed channel has no coverage till 1:am est the states are lame when it comes to anything in auto racing unless it goes around in a circle. i like kimi/ but... his pout may get in his way. cheers
Doc happy and fun racing; turn up the volume ! !

| Formula One Posted: 5/23/2009 3:14:41 PM | race time here/ 7:30 am est. perfect for me. other than good auto racing i'm not a sports fan/ i do live in a city when they do the evening news/ 45min. is sports/ 15 is news. it's crazy so are the fans. since i don't follow other sports this is always a special time of the year for me. i love the euro proto and what we call grand- am. today was a grand-am at laguna seca. fun/ pretty reckless though. always look forward to the 24 la-mon ! much much better than the daytona 24. UGH ! cheers

| Formula One Posted: 5/24/2009 8:44:31 AM | Pretty uneventful race - everyone even got through the first corner unscathed - another nightmare for Lewis .. finished 13th and only got that following after a few cars hit the barriers ....
another one - two for the new boys Brawn, Ferrari three four , but their problem is on the higher speed circuits not tight twisty ones like this - Turkey and Britain next, two more quick circuits .........
And what on earth happened to Toyota ??? Right up there at the start of the season, so far off the pace here its embarrassing ! Its not all about double diffusers then ...
Warehouse - Le Mans is a daunting track, the speed differentials between different classes can be dangerous... watched the 1970 movie with McQueen the other night - those Porsche 917's were AWESOME monsters !
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/24/2009 9:47:44 AM | i watched the race... and i enjoyed it. i can't help it. i love those cars. before the f1 race they had the f2s run. he he he ! yep it was for what it is an ok race. ferrari did well/ and kimi actually cracked a smile ! pomp and pleasure is over and europe begins. do you remember the Mercedes in ....i think early 90s down the back at spa went air-born. literally took off and flew ! god i love those old cars where you and the car became one. checked out your bio and saw your mini. very cool/ and whats most important is it looks like you use it. i'll go into some of the cars i've had sometime. now's too soon. also i'll grit my teeth but i'll watch some of indy 500 UGH ! shoot me ! ! ! cheers
Doc | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/24/2009 10:03:27 AM | yes I vaguely remember the airborne mercedes at Spa .. thats going back some !!
I remember Christian Fittipaldi ( I think ) looping the loop in an F1 car too ... ran over a backmarkers rear wheel and landed next to the pit wall ... lucky boy !!!
Mini is a 1275 'S' , but 'period' 60's for historic rallying - no modern tweaks allowed - and yes it gets used !!!
Not watched Indy for years .. I heard that some of the Brits did quite well recently .. Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon (his dad Hugh used to rallycross a mini too !)

| Formula One Posted: 5/24/2009 7:00:34 PM | I have enjoyed following this thread, mainly because Doc is so HAWT!!! | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/25/2009 10:13:36 AM | | Doc - you got a fan, man !! | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/25/2009 11:22:26 AM | thank you very much miss fl. girl's should try saying that more often/ men would melt in their hands and by- pass the nonsense of breaking the ice. were not real good at it.
THE RACE; wasn't it ironic in which order they started the race ? and in the order they finished ? 1/2/3 - 1/2/3... like A train. :) like i said now we can get on with the real start of the season. we all know monaco is the kick off. everything else till now is warm up/ working out the bugs. it's funny how ferrari was one of the only teams to use the boost after so much pouting whether they use it or not they still carry all that weight around. Yep/ my last car was a ferrari. the first thing i did was pull all the air conditioning crap off. also had a really nice sound system. i never listened to it. the sound of the engine was music to my ears. what a drug ! cheers

| Formula One Posted: 5/25/2009 12:15:55 PM | What model Ferrari did you have mate? I would like to get a 308 gt4 or a mondial and put a small block Chevrolet or Ford in it. would go well, torque.
Monaco should be like the race of champions years ago. a glamour event, but with no points.
|
| Formula One Posted: 5/25/2009 1:56:07 PM | it was a dino. and the '308gt4' comes with a v8. phill hill used the same engine in his gran-prix car and won many races. it was the first v8 ferrari put an 8 cylinder in/ i think 1985. till then they were all 6's or 12 cylinders. that was the beginning of a long and successful marriage ever since. it was a mid-engine also/ so ya had the 8 sittin right behind ya. well not right behind cause the gt4 had little jumper seats like the 911 porsches. but they were so tiny a child could hardly fit. good luggage space though.

| Formula One Posted: 6/6/2009 10:34:19 AM | | I've loved this season so far. Its been so great to see a team besides Ferrari or Mclaren dominate. I hope it continues. | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 6/22/2009 5:27:50 AM | ok/ kept quiet long enough. the formula 1 as we new/ it is over. (8) teams including Ferrari have decided to form their own series.
see ya lata berni !!!
Doc | |

| Formula One Posted: 6/22/2009 9:46:13 AM | | Oh and he has another....Doc that is! | |
|
| Formula One Posted: 6/30/2009 8:07:00 AM | Not any more, the breakaway has been stopped for the moment, unless Max get on his high horse again and for the third time changes his mind about stepping down.
The 2010 season will run with the same riules as the 2009 season so the teams will not be spending loads on developing to yet another neew set of regs....
But looks like will be budget capped for 2011, which is not a bad thing, as the excess money that the teams have can be spent on driver development etc, which allows it to filter down to lower levels in the sport, which is all good in my opinion.
