From what I read, Kovalainen has been told that he needs to improve....... Does that mean that there will be an empty seat at McClaren-Mercedes for next year? If there is, then the obvious choice would be one of the German boys, Rosberg, Heidfeld, or even Sutil. Yet, at this point, you have who is arguably the best driver on the grid, and that would be Alonso, wanting to leave Renault. He is definetly looking, and is possibly going to go to Ferrari next year.

I would love to see him with McClaren again........ just to mix things up a little bit.....

Here we go! As of second Friday practice, Alonso is on top, by a little more than a half second. The two Brawns are next. The real amazing part is that Alonso's new teammate, Grosjean, is thirteenth, only about .7 of a second behind the second place car. MUCH better than the driver he replaced.............

The real truth comes out at the end of first practice on Sat., and then during qualifying. Should be a barn burner. My money is on Alonso, and I still think that Vettel wil be top 3.

Surprise, surprise, surprise......... No Alonso to be seen near the front, and Barichello winning. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I am surprised at the bobble that Hamiltons crew made during one pit stop. I could be argues that it cost him the race. But, thats racing.

Next stop, one of my two favorite tracks...... Spa!!! And that means the greatest set of corners in racing..... Eau Rouge. And in only one week!

Yeah, Barichello deserved it.

And hopefully Luca Badoer will be better at Spa. I really want to see what he can do.

Couldn't agree more! Spa Francorchamps is an awesome track and Eau Rouge is wicked! I've played a few F1 video games and Spa is always fun to race on, I'd love to try it in a real car. Happy for Barichello.

There are companies that have purchased F1 cars a few years old, and arrange so that just about anybody can drive them. I know that they do this in LasVegas. It runs about $3500.00, but is very comprehensive in that they have you a drive and F3 car first. Most of their cars are from the V10 era, but still plenty fast.

I guess I should find a rich lady who loves racing................

The best thing about video racing games for me is the ability to race the rack before you watch the race, thus giving you a much better understanding and appreciation for the event.

The new F1 game coming from Codemasters looks pretty good coming mid 2010.

Also Microsoft will now have the title as it had been a Sony exclusive for a while.

I would rather spend some $ on letting Sabine Schmitz take me on a taxi ride around the Nordschleife.

Great video of Jermemy Clarkson with her.

Cool, I'm a 360 guy. Will have to try that one out. Hasn't been a good F1 game in a while. Nordschleife is awesome! Learned it in a couple different games and driving it for real would be incredible!!

What a race. I can't help but wonder if the outcome would have been different had the Ferrari of Raikonen not had a KERs device......... I think that Fisi would have had him more than once. I was really looking forward to seeing Alonso show his speed, but it wasn't meant to be.

I am now really looking forward to Monza. I don't think that Fisi will jump ship to the red cars, as he has shown his own car to be just as quick or quicker through some parts, than the red cars, AND, what if he jumps ship, then Massa comes back in a few weeks........ Who would hire him? Nobody likes a turncoat.

The real threat in this whole race was once again Vettel....... a world champion one day for sure, and not that far away.

Formual One perfectly fits the axiom that the only thing that is constant is change. A few questions need to be answered before dismissing Vettel.. such as, Who is going to own the BMW team next year, Where is Alonso going to be................. How well are the three new teams going fare?

As far as the new teams, I really hope that the US F1 team at the very least talks to Alexander Rossi. He seems to be the genuine article, and having watched a few interviews, is mature beyond his years.

AND, next year F1 won't have Max to kick around any more either. Personally I would like to see Jean Todt get the gig, just based on past performances.

Monza, then the end of the year..... and Button is still hanging on. The results at Monza will tell if he can hang on until the end of the last race. I still think he will have earned it if he wins the championship.

Button will be champion - he is soooooooo lucky : several times in the last few races he has given his title rivals a huge opportunity to wrest the lead away - and they have spurned every opportunity ! OK a few points here and there , but to have his lead cut by maybe only ten points in 6 races is not a lot ...

Five to go, and with a 16 point advantage, thats now over three per race that he needs to lose to miss the title .... not sure I can stand the tension !!!

Come on JB - get yer arse in gear , boy !

Fisi to Ferrari..............

Yep, read it and weep. He is a turncoat of major proportions. The ONLY way this will work out for him is if he scores big the rest of the season, AND Raikonnen falls flat on his face and leaves, AND Massa doesn't return...........

Now there is the question that looms large: Did he "bag it" at Spa, as passing Raikonnen would piss off his potential employers? If so, then, did he have a deal with Ferrari BEFORE Spa?

I hope beyond hope that the Force India upturn is REAL, and that whoever takes his place KICKS HIS ASS..................

If it wasn't for Force India, he would be racing karts, after all, he is no spring chicken. And this is how he repays them.

Mallya was very kind about the fact that their "ace" will be heading to Maranello for Monza. I think that's very commendable but I'm still not sure why they'd be "totally OK" with it.

Perhaps FI will be switching back to the Ferrari engines next year?

For FI to switch back to Ferrari motors next, it would be a step backwords. All of the commentators, every who watched the race was amazed at just how close Fisi stayed to the Ice man going up the hill past Eau Rouge, and more than one person wondered outloud "what if the Ferrari didn't have KERs". I am of the opinion that the Mercedes is more than the match of the Ferrari. Besides, who says that the KERs system, which works very well in Hamiltons car, will not be on the Force India cars next year.......... it will no longer be new technology, so its cost won't be prohibitive.

I know that Ferrari is a huge draw, especially to an Italian, but he is still a turncoat, not to be trusted anymore. I think that Dr. Mallya was right in letting Ferrari buy out Fisi's contract. That gives them money for a YOUNGER talent..........

Great season so far, the rest will be as spectacular.

If one were very concerned with job security, get a job being Renaults attorney.......... These guys just can't seem to keep out of trouble. Now they are accused of telling Piquet to crash on purpose so as to bring out a safety car...............

Holy lawyer, batman....... I wish they would just race, and leave the lawyering to max and bernie......................

At the start of the year everyone said the teams running kers were fools. it wasnt worth it. Thank god Ferrari had it. Helps that Spa is raikonens favorite track.
Worked out ok in all cases i think.
Fisi gets to live his dream, Mallya gets to dump his salary and not have to sign him for next year.

There was, a better one.
Called Schumacher.
Prost, Fangio, Lauda. all measure up.

Senna is only idolised now because he died (rip) when he was alive a lot of fans and journos disliked him.

I think Force India still owe Ferrari money for the engines they used last season.

I'm still trying to figure out how Raikonen used the run off area on the 1st corner at the start of the race and gained positions but wasn't penalized. The officials didn't seem to have any problems penalizing other driver that day. Oh stupid me...I forgot that Ferrari doesn't have to run by the same rules.
