| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/22/2009 8:48:36 AM | Since your subject title is "What is the fastest way to lose fat?", and not what is the best or least expensive way to lose fat, there are two options not mentioned so far.
Liposuction- invasive, needs recovery time, can leave scars, can lead to infections. It is very quick and has the advantage of losing the fat only where you want it gone.
Ultra-sound spot fat reduction - At the moment, the closest place available is Canada. Non-invasive, no down time, spot reduction, expensive.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/22/2009 11:46:05 AM | I would do circuits, run, and eat healthier. You can eat more, smaller meals per day. Instead of eating two or three big meals try to eat around 5 small meals. Stay off the junk food and alcohol.
Try to reduce rest between sets.
Thats basically what I do. I'm not saying its the best though. I would consult a professional trainer if you're really serious. That way you don't have to research anything, and they can help you sculpt your body to your liking.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/22/2009 7:26:33 PM | Exercise is important, but I'd advise eliminating all DAIRY & Starch from your diet. Do a search on "cow milk unhealthy" and learn about why casein, BGH, pasteurization, homogenization, loose FDA regs, all make cow milk a hard to digest mucious paste covering your gastro-intestinal tract. A good article is in the archives at rense dot com.
I'd do a good colon cleanse and adopt a healthier more nutritious alternative like almond, rice or hemp seed milk ( my favorite )
I have a complete breakdown of the miraculous nutrition of hemp seeds available to all who want to know more.
4-5 tablespoons organic shelled hemp seeds 3-4 dates Some apple slices 1 tablespoon honey. A banana is good if you're going to drink it all the same day. Optional - 1 scoop super green foods mix. Place all ingredients in the blender. Fill the blender to half capacity with filtered water. Blend 1 minutes, until the water is white.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/23/2009 9:10:46 PM | Oh lord, some of this info is so outdated.
The fact is, lowering calories lowers your metabolism. Every diet I've ever been on, and I've been on many, just ended up with me ultimately putting on more weight than I started with. If diets worked, we wouldn't have the obesity problem we do. They don't work! Period. I have lost 40 pounds, and more importantly, 22% body fat - by eating MORE - but eating the right foods at the right times, and combining it with carefully planned exercise, including both cardio and strength training. I have kept it off for over a year, and while I was overweight most of my life, I am now competing in a fitness competition in two weeks.
Your metabolism is like a furnace, if you throw six logs on a fire it smothers it, and if you throw no logs on the fire it goes out. You have to eat small meals frequently - like putting one log on the fire at a time, at regular intervals, so you keep the fire burning. As well, you have a natural circadian rhythm. In the morning, your metabolism has slowed, and needs to be fired up - so you should feed it complex carbohydrates, and proteins. By late afternoon, your metabolism is slowing down and getting ready for rest and repair, so it needs some healthy fats and proteins. Veggies and fruits of course are spread throughout, as is water! Think oatmeal, berries, eggs for breakfast - fish and veggie stir fry (in Olive oil or avocado oil) in the evening. The closer your foods are to nature, the better. Since when did a protein bar with 50 ingredients you can't pronounce become healthier than a potato? It's not. It's all about portion sizes, and timing. Read "Eat Clean" by Tosca Reno, or contact Lisa Carpenter at Bucfitness.com for more info! (No that's not me - just a trainer and nutritionist who helped).

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/24/2009 5:17:45 AM | The fastest way to lose fat is to exercise and sweat. You should be sweating enough to need a shower afterwards. It really doesn't matter how you build up a sweat through any particular exercise just as long as you do it. If you do it regularly, you'll be surprised at how quickly the pounds will come off. If you're not sweating, you're not exercising hard enough. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/24/2009 11:44:24 AM | It's true, diets alone don't work, but everyone has been suggesting exercise along with diet. Resistance training, specifically, will speed up your metabolism even on a calorie deficit diet. After someone reaches their target weight, they can go off the calorie restricted diet, increase calories per meal, and go on a weight maintenance diet. Of course, they should remain on their exercise program.
On the exercise note, if someone still wants to do cardio, but doesn't like it because it is tedious and boring, like another poster suggested, heavy circuit training with very short rest periods between exercises is the way to go. You knock out two birds with one stone by doing cardio and resistance training at the same time, and provide variety to your workout too.

in my experience, milk is fine in small quantities and more importantly, WHEN it's taken. I started to use whole chocolate milk as a recovery drink after a workout or run about six months ago, and my body loves it. If I drink it with a regular meal however it can cause bloating and/or gas. So I would never go back to drinking 3-4 glasses of it every day like I did when I was a kid.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/26/2009 9:41:25 AM | Cut out as much processed food as you can. Eat as raw and organic as you can. Combine those two things with some cadio and you are on your way. Remember what Jack LaLane says, "if man made it dont eat it." | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/26/2009 2:47:41 PM | | hmmm. i hadn't really thought about using whole choc milk after workouts. i do put protein powder in skim milk. the thing about anything that has been pasteurized or homogenized is if you get too much of it, eventually those processes will supposedly destroy probotic bacteria in your stomach that would allow your body to absorb calcium and other nutrients. raw milk has not had all that done to it. i think i'm going to give it another try. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/26/2009 7:24:30 PM | hydroxycut hardcore works good if you are dedicated to anaerobic and aerobic activity. I know three men who lost 40 lbs. with it. Just make sure you don't have heart problems.
Also, you are going to have to retrain yourself how to live healthy; running is the best fat burner; make sure you get enough protein. And of course weightlifting is a must for anyone. You should lift first when your glucose stores are highest and run after. You will minimize your ability to max out if you run first. You'll be tired at first but your body will get used to it. Get plenty of L-Glutamine to preserve muscle. Also make sure you are taking a natural multi-vitamin. Your Omega 3, 6, and 9's are important, too. I'm considering taking HMB for its ability to create endurance and stamina in long distance runners. To make sure you are getting enough protein (and since you are doing cardio) multiply your weight by .6 and that will tell you how much protein you need in a day. Make sure you divide that into about 4 servings so you can get maximum absorbtion. I wouldn't try to absorb anymore than 30 grams at a time.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/27/2009 5:57:40 PM | My 46 year old neighbour was morbidly obese tipping the scales at about 450 lbs two years ago. He now weighs in at 220 lbs. How did he do it? COMPLETE LIFESTYLE CHANGE over a prolonged period of time.
He started by reducing his portion sizes, thereby reducing his caloric intake to what is normal. He then started to exercise a bit at a time, then a bit more, then a bit more and so on and so on. He still walks about 50 minutes in the am and another 50 minutes at night (briskly now). He also eliminated all processed foods and anything white from his diet.
I'll tell you he is an inspiration to all of us in the neighbourhood.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/27/2009 8:20:31 PM | When I'm looking to lose fat fast I go on the Velocity Diet. I lost 26 lbs in 28 days when I did it last year and I'm currently doing it again right now and down 10 lbs in the first 12 days. It's tough, but the results are well worth it. You only do this diet for 28 days as well. Here are the links for the articles on it:
For the address to the actual diet first read this:

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 2/27/2009 9:12:47 PM | | Bro, I lost 80 lbs. in 4 months by doing a very low carb diet, lifting weights heavily at least 5 times a week and walking an hour every day. I did this while on a boat. I run when I am on land. I just listened to people that did the Atkins diet, though I never read the book. I mostly ate meat, cheese, eggs, salad, and protein drinks. It worked very well. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/1/2009 5:56:30 PM | If you want to maintain size but gradually tone up, then weights at the gym, some cardio exercise combined with a healthy generous protein rich diet is the best strategy. You will see results from weights pretty much within a few weeks, and the added muscle mass will start burning off your fat.
Be wary of recommendations to diet and run 2 hours a day. Too much or excessive cardio combined with dieting will have the reverse effect and strip you of muscle and keep the fat on. However, you want to do a moderate amount of cardio in order to raise your fitness level which will then slowly raise your stamina levels so you can go harder at the weights.
You want to go easy for the first few weeks with the weights and gradually build up the intensity as you progress. A four day weight training routine isolating each muscle group, giving each area a rest period of a few days for repair before hitting it again is what most body builders follow. And you should supplement your diet with protein supplements, and remove or at least reduce the amount sugary, starchy simple carbs in your diet. They rob your muscles of growth.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/3/2009 11:35:45 PM | As others have suggested, the easiest is to just get more physical activity into your daily routine. Like, ride a bicycle to work or school. Or, get off the bus a few stops too soon and walk briskly (20 minutes or more). For a while I had a great commute: ride my bike 35 minutes to the ferry, lock it up, take the ferry to the Big City, then walk across town about 30 minutes. The real help was the return journey, since I was frequently late leaving and had to jog for the ferry.
Another time, changing my commute from driving to riding resulted in me dropping about 30 pounds without any effort. Well, apart from motivating myself to get on a bicycle on a dark wet winter morning... but investing in Goretex rain tights and waterproof shoe covers made bad weather more tolerable.

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/4/2009 12:06:02 AM | | It's simple really, burn more calories than you consume. If you have a body weight of say, 200 your body uses 2800 calories a day (200*14). Cut that by 500 and start exercising. Lifting burns insane amounts of calories for example and all it requires is set of dumb bells. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/4/2009 5:37:17 AM | | OP- you got the right idea for maximum fat burning. Do cardio on empty stomach first thing in the morning and then later in a day after work do your workout and if you really kick it up a noch do 25min cardio after workout as well once or twice a week. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/25/2009 1:58:49 AM | First of all, your results are going to be entirely dependant on your diet. You need to construct a diet and eat in a slight calorie defecit. Slight being the operative word. You should not cut your calories more than 400-500 below maintenance. This defecit needs to incorporate the activity you do. Your diet should be broken up into 5 or 6 meals spaced evenly throughout the day. This will elevate your metabolism.
Secondly, you should begin a weight training routine if you're not on one already. If you are a beginner; a great place to start is here: http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/
Thirdly, you could incorporate cardio into your routine. This is the least important step. Cardio provides a lot of benefit for overall health and I'd recommend doing it for those reasons. As I mentioned in the first step; your diet needs to account for the loss in calories through activity. Cardio burns a lot of calories but you need to eat accordingly. If you fail to eat accordingly you will burn off muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn and the better off you'll be. It's much harder to build muscle than it is to burn fat.
I hope this helps. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/25/2009 7:43:52 AM | | I agree with everything in the last post except for the importance of cardio...I think it is the most important and should be at least half of your weight loss and relatively easy to burn a pound of fat a week with it.....And working your way to high intensity interval training or sprints is the best...I have been doing that for 2 months and it helps with the muscle strength and have been losing weight much faster than earlier in my program (moderate cardio and diet). | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/25/2009 1:10:09 PM | At a 500 per day calorie defecit you're losing 3500 calories per week. One pound of fat is 3500 calories. Cardio has some wonderful benefits. The problem people get into is that when you do an excessive amount of it and don't account for the loss in calories you will drop weight faster but you won't get the look you're going for. Too many people live by the scale instead of the mirror. | |

| What's the fastest way to lose fat? Posted: 3/25/2009 2:50:25 PM | Its the subject line is what caught my attention.
Losing weight as others have noted, is best done slow. Like eating healthy, and getting an overall work out that works the entire body, which also means burning more calories than one takes in.
Have a number of friends who didnt work out and lost weight, but because they didnt work out as they changed their eating habits, they didnt build muscle as they lost weight and now they have flabby skin which no amount of exercise is helping. So now they will spend money for tummy tucks etc.
