| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 12:35:53 PM | /\/\//\/\/\/\/\/\ My point is Why should murderers be free when the victim is still dead?
Monkey the forums are here for us to give our opinions there are times, for many when personal experience effects how we wish to post.
Many of us know friends who have been dealt a bad hand and that will effect how we see things. I personally have been a victim of crime, mainly due to my own innocence; your family may have been unwitting suspects.
Sadly in this world $hit happens but that doesn’t make it right IMO we should not take the Hollywood attitude to Biggs any more than we should to Butch and Sundance a film is a film, but a crime is a crime and in the real world it is the victims that pay the price, so lets cut the cr@p and put the resources into them and not the criminals.

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 2:01:12 PM | Whither or not Biggs is still a threat to society is not the issue. PoF cracks me up sometimes -on one hand prison is too easy ,on the other its get the guy out. Biggs has hardly paid for his crimes has he ? Myra Hndly was not a threat to anyone for her dying years but she was kept inside was she not ?? I do believe in forgiveness and rehabilitation but Biggs has taken the piss his whole life and IMO should still be punished for his crimes. | |

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 2:22:52 PM | Playboy... are you really comparing a CHILD KILLER to a back seat robber?
Myra Hindley deserved to ROT she commited crimes beyond compassion...
Ronnie Biggs assisted (if you can call it that) a robbery and was smart enough to escape Wandworth prison!
It reminds me of watching the Shawshank Redemption, but we all love that when Andy digs a hole and escapes.

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 2:30:15 PM | It has just been announced on the news that he will be released on July 3 rd...
I still think that he should have been left in prison to finish his time ...He has not only made a mockery out of the legal system but also his partners in crime who served their full time but most importantly the victims family.....

Whilst it was a terrible thing what Biggs did and involved the death of a man I don't think it would help anybody to keep him inside anymore and he's served his time so the news that he is to be released on July 3rd is only to be expected in this case.
I'm sure he must regret his actions and the fact that an innocent train guard was killed.
Criminals who have commited far worse crimes often go free or serve less time!
The authorities have made their point now and an example of him to others.........
PS..Holby....It was a Spanish lorry but the driver was Portuguese not Spanish........

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 4:38:40 PM | The man's a cabbage.
I don't think it makes any difference whether he expires dribbling in a cell or in a bed in an old folks home.

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/17/2009 5:06:34 PM | Actually, after reading some posts and giving it some thought. Tarrifs rolled out years ago for the same offence bare no relation to what is given today. Those still serving there time can feel pissed off with some justification. Someone across there table doing less than half of what there doing for the same offence. But still,if you can't do the time..... | |

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/18/2009 2:57:00 AM | | On a similar not the two Kids that tortured mutilated and killed Jamie Bulger are due to get new lives in Australia. Much of what they did to that kid has never been published and if you were to read the case details you would be horrified. Yet they are free and alive. The Sutcliffe case is just another example of the way mental health institutions work. If they are unable to cure you they release you as they aren't able to help anymore. Somewhere the logic escapes me | |

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 2/18/2009 8:00:00 AM | The Nazi regime is a touchy subject as we all know. But for many of the soldiers that served it was not their fault that they where faced with Death or Service. The ones in charge have been served their penalties but as for the normal soldiers leave them be, they suffered just as any other soldier had suffered. | |

| Should Ronnie biggs be a free man now? Posted: 8/6/2009 11:25:04 AM | From what I can gather Biggs has shown no remorse and has basked in the glory of humiliating the British justice system.
He knew when he committed the crime what the punishment would be. He is only back here as he needs medical treatment. If he didn’t he would not be here. Why, regardless of age should he not serve his sentence? His best years while he was in Brazil are behind him. This is the time he should have spent in jail.
Why should he be set free, this is not a good man and has no redeeming features to his character? Given that, he should remain in jail till the end.
As for Nazi’s;
Hunt them down till their last breath. Evil, evil people. The too have ran away, some with the help of the Vatican from their crimes. People who perpetrate such evil should not be allowed to live in a society which tries in most to accommodate all comers. We try to be civilised as a continent, the tried to destroy it by untold horrors of cruelty and violence. Hunt them down to the last man, them strip them of their dignity ( and Viagra) and lock them in a room with the families of those they violated.
