| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/13/2009 9:58:47 PM | Major grocery store within five minutes drive of the campsite - right at the corner when you turn off onto the road that gets you to the campsite. Tim Horton's is there as well as a beer and wine store either in that mall or the next one down. Don't worry. Everything is VERY close yet the camp site itself is full of trees, quiet, on a nature bird sanctuary on an estuary or river and with the ocean. you will have no trouble finding places to load up on stuff.
I am camping in my campervan. Not a lot of room in there so I'm not interested in sharing with anyone I don't know and it would be a tight fit with anyone I do know
What else? The numbers of booked camp sites. Yes the numbers of signups do not reflect the number of people who will actually get to the site. Then a lot of people will just show up and book when they get there. Some people will book and not let on that they might be meeting anyone else there. (the super shy ones)
Frankly if we don't have 70 some odd people showing up, that works for me! A big party is fun but a little party is fun too and a medium sized one would be just right!

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/13/2009 11:45:02 PM | ^^^^^ Thanks very much for the info Deb... Very helpful!
And I agree as for the numbers... When we had the Camp Out in Powell River back in 2006..it was a nice small group... made for some great time to get to know everyone... 70 + some odd stranglers could also make it interesting.... We will have lots of campsites to stop by and visit... "Medium size one would be just right" Says Goldie Locks Debra2008
Not sure if any thought has been put into this but might be a good idea if we make up signs with just basic POF Camper or something... that way the newbies or shy ones will be easier to identify...as we all know no one goes without being introduced or befriended at any event! It doesn't need to be really sophisticated...just something in black sharpie pen that can be hung at front of each site... I don't think we will all have glow bracelets that will last for 2 1/2 days! If this campout does end up being as big we think it will with so many people signed up and not counting those that like to just show up to an event... Could be a very good way to make things a little more intimate/friendly.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Two more sleeps till I make my way to Courtenay..... 4 More till our "Just Right....however big or small " Camp out!!

No "stranglers" please. Stragglers may be welcomed so long as they are also not stranglers. I know, you were just trying to make Phil feel better, now weren't you?
I think anyone who wants to identify their campsite with a POF sign should definitely do so! You are so right that then we could visit each other and find each other. Whoever has walkie talkies, 2 way radios should bring them too and we can call our convoy buds and find out where everyone is at. i.e., Mom will call us in for supper.
Competition for who gets to be "mom". Shy? Phil? Cowboy? or ?

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/14/2009 1:09:18 AM | ^^^^^ Thanks for catching that typo! LMFAO BIG OOOPS! No one said us red necks could SpElle EH! But we could strangle a Straggler just a little...then stick em to the nearest tree on their campsite with duck tape... if he/she gets outta hand
"And how far did you go in school there Andie Dandie" Says a SMrT Pofer...
"Uhhhh Reckon I went to school about 4 mile... And that was one long walk eh... Recked em... Nearly Killed EM! I found my way home with all them Christmas lights." Andie Dandie Says with a really brilliant grin!

Do we care if he is going to take the cool tool of the camp award thanks to the horseshoe up his unowhere? Are any of us REALLY wondering how he is going to get a broadcast on his DVD player?
Nope, nahaa, nosirree, not me!

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/15/2009 7:00:25 AM | hey all, just got back last night from a lil dink-de-do out to Ontario.....can't wait to see y'all this w'end. I'm thinkin'(yes I admit, I got a Thinkin' Problem) there should be a Redneck Woman beauty contest this w/end, so ladies, bring your Wal-Mart finest....I am more than happy to judge, and am open to bribes, as any real redneck woman would do (hell, I'm a redneck m'self, I'm even bring my trailer with me, LOL), could be cash, (gotta pay the pad rent somehow, let's don't be stupid, LOL), could be moonshine, or?????? I am open to suggestions, lol
as for the 'mom' thing, ms de Bra, I don't mother anybody, unless you consider giving any of my flock a good swift kick in the computer seat when they need it mothering....
k, gotta go get ready to get outta here, I'll be there a day earlier than most of the rest of you.
Oh, and p.s.......there is a playoff game Fri night, I am bringing my 24" TV set to watch that Fri night. I think the phlying phil pheller is bringing his TV too

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/15/2009 6:24:56 PM | Ok... This Red Neck Mainlander has landed on this bitty ole island! And am doing a warm up round for camping with the parental units... warm up in the sense of alcholic beverages ...lol Just gotta get Dad to open another bottle of wine and we'll be just fine!
Hope all of you islanders are prepared for the party... I think I am gonna frisk like I've never frisked before! Any anyone caught watching the Nucks will be frisked with or without permission.... Watching TV is just wrong when one is camping... besides... Nucks suck...and Flames rule! Did I mention I like to stir the pot a little?
Red Neck Beauty contests sounds rather interesting Diver! lol... So if your the judge for the women...who's gonna be the judge for the men? I think the campsite with the most christmas lights gets to judge! lmao... Phat Fat Who Deleted Me Panther Water Rat... that order will be green, blue & white... Got it girlfriend?

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/15/2009 9:07:52 PM | | k, Flames fans are definitely persona non grata......all's fair in love and war, and this is war, baby! Don't expect me to be nice, especially to a Flames fan.....when I lived in Calgary for 12 years too long, if there wasn't a Canucks game on TV, I watched the Flames games and cheered for ANYBODY BUT the Flames, so in case there's any doubt in your mind, I HATE THE FLAMES!!!!!!! But I digress, LOL. I am setting up a shelter outside my trailer, with my TV set up on a table, so anyone that wants to can watch the Canucks game, and we'll have a campfire at the same time. This is gonna be soooooooo cool, and kind of a redneck thing to do, all at the same time......I LOVE IT!!!! lolololololololo........... | |
|
| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/15/2009 11:21:34 PM | TV's outside only qualify as redneck if they have rabbit ears and tinfoil.
Oh the purist in me is sizzling.
I think those that are NOT interested in the game should have a solstice party (who cares when it is - have you heard what goes on at those?) to instill a little Oneness with the Earth on this trip - but gee, wouldn't want to distract the hockey fans from their game, or would we?

| Vancouver Island CAMPING **April 17 - 19, 2009** NANAIMO Posted: 4/15/2009 11:45:59 PM | @ Diver... God help you if my one friend does end up coming... LMAO She is the ultimate Flames Fan... and Iknow she is lurking in this thread ... She might even be so bold now to post! Or... could probably be convinced to come for sure now knowing how fond you are of the Flames! Ohhhh Lurker... Come Out Come Out where ever you are!
I think we could probably do the ole Solstice Party While the Game is on...and then Have the Beauty contest between periods! Who's In? Dang It... I forgot my Cowgirl Hat... perhaps I could borrow Pa's Rod & Gun Club Hat!
... more sleeps!! | |
