i intend to make these first chance i get. the local natural foods store used to stock halva bars, and i absolutely love them! but now she claims that they didn't sell and she won't get them in. so i figure i'll make it myself.

halva bars:

3/4 butter or margarine
1/2 cup tahini
pinch of salt
2 cups flour
1-1/4 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 375°F and butter an 8" cake pan.

Cream butter and tehina. Add salt and sugar. Sprinkle in flour. Spread into pan.

Bake for 15 to 25 minutes until edges are just darkening. Remove for oven and cut while still warm.

How about trifles? The only trick with them is knowing how to layer really, and ANYONE can do it- yes even you I think! Time depends on what you actually put, but should take no more than an hour at most, inc prep time. There are lots of different trifles out there to choose from depending on personal tastes, so do have a look around!!

junipermoon: Did you make these yet? If so, how did they come out? Were they as good as the ones that were store-bought? ALSO...is it 3/4 of a STICK or 3/4 of a CUP of butter or margerine?
I'm looking forward to try this recipe as well, but want to have the proper measurements.

Thanks..

no doubt about it ... the desserts granny always made just for me - her old-fashioned date squares, apple crisp and butter tarts. Simple but oh so good.

Simpliest dessert ever!!!!

I box of chocolate wafer cookies (the thin ones, I think Christy makes them)

500ml of fresh whipped cream ( I put sugar and some amaretto in mine)
1 foil line cookie sheet
put prepared whip cream between each cookie and make a log out of it once finished with cookies cover whole log with whip cream Take one cookie and crumble fine crumbs on top of log roll for decoration...place in fridge for minimum 5-6 hours. You want to cookies to absord the moisture from the cream they become like cake.

To serve cut on the diagonol and garnish with fresh berries...

So simple and yet so delicous...my Mom has made this for years

Hi there,

I hope you like this one - it's quick easy and satisfies all from kids to adults. It's called Crunchie Surprise

INGREDIENTS

• 300ml (1/2 pint) Whipping cream
• 2 Crunchies
• 2 Flakes
• 2 Packets of Marks & Spencer meringue nests or equivalent

METHOD

•Line a 2lb loaf tin with cling film, leaving a good margin around each edge to cover over the desert.
•Whip cream to light consistency.
•Break up (into small bite size pieces) the Crunchies and Flakes
•Add these to the cream.
•Break up meringue nests and add to cream.
•Mix well.
•Pour mixture into loaf tin and cover with the cling film from the edge of the loaf tin.
•Freeze overnight.

When ready to eat, remove from freezer and leave for approximately 5 minutes at room temperature. Serve in slices.

Hope you enjoy this.

Here is a light desert and absolutely delicious***
Crush unsalted crackers and layer them to the bottom of the cake dish
Mix vanilla pudding and light cool whip together
Spread on top of the crackers and but last put your favourite pie filling on the top just before serving
This is made the night before in order to turn out right

I have made this at a few functions

Sex in a Pan has to be one of the all time favorite deserts!!!

So many options, so many choices!!

A lady at a function I was at made a super pretty bowl with cheesecake cubes, strawberries, whip cream, custard.. It was very pretty and they ate it up!!!

Also another great desert is a Skor Chocolate Trifle. Layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whip cream, crushed skor bars.. You can layer this into any container.. a deep glass bowl works best to show the layers off.. I saw this done in a fancy large vase/jar as well.

Anything that shows those layers off!!
