You just have that "I'm serious" look about you. 
(Seriously? Admin handed those freebies out as a ploy to get others to think some were actually paying for the little yellow medallion on your profile and the little smooshy yellow dot next to your email ~ OH ~ and don't forget, the yellow border around your profile.)  | |

So a great feature would be for me to have the ability to just view these people as a filter! should help draw attention to people who paid for the upgrade! and are more serious!
Note: Have seen ladies who state they have received this status without charge! I think that this will deflate the value of this upgrade! and if I find over time that the people with this status are not really any different! then I would not renew; which will mean after time the revenue from this new option will fade! needs to deliver value for the people who subscribe!
Also should consider giving some priority to profile with upgrade in search!~
What about a featured profile! rotation for people with this status! in their geo area! this would definatly drive traffic to these upgraded members!
Forums! maybe a special forum where only these members could access! I also think that you clould consider some advertising benifit for this status! what if some special offers were available from advertisors; only to this group! | |

Why do l now need to pay some money? l thought pof professed to be a 100% free site. l now discover that some people have been awarded the medallion without charge and some people have been given the medallion when they did not want it. lt does somewhat dilute the privileges that are supposed to accompany the medallion. l think the whole thing is one big mistake except, of course, for Markus. You know that the vast majority of the upgrades have been given away for now for free so they mean nothing at this time really. There is no screening PRESENTLY as those looking for Intimate Encounters can pay to be as serious as the truly serious daters.
Welcome to POF and why not kick back for awhile and see how this all shakes out in the next couple months?

Posted: 4/8/2009 6:50:11 AM | I have pretty much just enjoyed the forums on this site...which is a very nice aspect of POF. I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion on how limited the features of the forum are - primarily in the area of it's search capabilities. Honestly, and I don't mean to be too harsh, but it feels like a forum that's stuck in 1994. The search function is, to be blunt, just plain awful. You can't search the text of messages - only the thread titles, it only displays one page of results, you can't do a "new posts" search, it only allows you to select a few of the specific forums, no preview of the post, etc., etc., etc. I can't think of another forum or bulletin board I've been on in recent years that is as clunky and restrictive in this manner. This is really too bad, as it has developed into a forum with a lot of great discussion going on. I don't know much about the technicalities of this, but it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to upgrade to vBulletin or something like that.
It seems to me that if anything was to be upgraded, it should be the forums - given their overall popularity. Just my $0.02 anyway. | |

PS: I too noticed a HUGE number of people with dots immediately after the change to a pay site... Now that I'm reading that many who 'upgraded' didn't pay, I question the ethical decision of these fake upgrades in order to make it APPEAR as if everyone is paying.

If you start using FIREFOX (it's free) as your browser, not only does it have spell check BUILT IN but it blocks nearly all ads on all websites if you get the free "ad block plus" add on.
Firefox also had tabbed browsing about 2 years before Internet explore decided to do it.

You can get spell check on the google toolbar, works for all online script. No good on messenger though. | |

CoN -- Not bad enough that I was already skeptical about the "new" feature...but when I discovered that they were being distributed for FREE to people, that immediately made me sour on the whole scam. If they expect people to "buy in" then giving them away just seems ridiculous and very self serving to perpetuate the site's own ideal of "popularity". It's an ancient bait n' switch lure and it made that whole Serious Member ploy just utterly weak and completely hollow. If everyone paid for it, then we could call it "Serious".
Can't call it "Serious" if the first thought in your head is "Did you PAY for it or was it a FREEBIE?"
