CoN -- Not bad enough that I was already skeptical about the "new" feature...but when I discovered that they were being distributed for FREE to people, that immediately made me sour on the whole scam. It's worse than that. I went on a date with one of those free so-called Serious Members. She was very non-serious and even states that she's not serious (literally) in her profile. | |

I know of two of your serious gold members... That are players big time and seem to get a kick out of what they are doing. By not screening your are defeating the object of being a serious member for dating.Surely thats false advertising ?
They are "serious players" Archangel!
Given the number of people who've gotten them for free, who don't want them, and the number of statements like the above - How about a new feature, a way to block "serious" members from popping up in my searches! | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 6:18:36 AM | Well - I am holding off for another “feature” to be added to Serious Member.
- A guarantee (or a $5,000 refund) that a cute 52 year old 5’6” 122 pound sex pot moves in next door.
THEN ........ I will buy my yellow dot.
-----------
The house next door is empty - they can't use that for an excuse. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:48:44 AM | It appears this "serious idea" wasn't all that well thought through. Such is life in the business world.

Here's the plan. Bake the best casserole and keep it in your freezer. When you see a potential tenant/buyer next door run over and assume they've already moved in and offer it. It could just clinch the deal and Ron will be one happy guy. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 8:04:46 PM | You know what's funny..... I was suggesting some way for users to voluntarily PAY for POF a year ago... I even suggested some of the revenue go to the hard working moderators.
The FUNNY part is if Admin would have put a "SUPPORTER" yellow dot I would have been first in line to contribute, but this lames ass "serious user" is a joke and an insult. It's as bad as spending $35 for a picture of a stupid flower that you could 'send' to other users.
I can't stoop to PAYING... not because I don't think POF is worth it, but because it would be an insult to my intelligence to pay in order for OTHERS to think me a "serious" person here.

I even suggested some of the revenue go to the hard working moderators. I would agree with that, in the hopes that the site could get more mods and avoid over-working the current volunteers.
I don't agree that the little yellow button is worth getting so bent out of shape about. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 8:37:53 PM | I almost fell for that serious member feature, but then thought what does paying 60$/year have to do with someone being serious.
I would have paid 60/year just to get rid of those annoying ad's. Pay to remove ads would have been a better name for it :) | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 8:54:37 PM | OK, I'm surprised this thread isn't deleted by now. It's obvious most people are against the original reasons or concept for the change.
Ideas have been expressed that if an upgrade is available, what would be desirable or acceptable. I'm feel these will be taken into consideration. After all, how could they not be, with so much negative feedback at this point?
I'd like to express respect and gratitude for what we've been given thus far. What is the need to be sarcastic, mean or condescending. I think by now, they've gotten the point. Expressing an opinion is one thing, but none of us would be here if it weren't for Markus and the site he created and offered for free.
I guess you could say I love POF. I don't want it to change either, I like it just the way it is, and I appreciate it. The gold serious member thing was an idea, most people seem to be opposed to it or have other suggestions. Only time will tell the actual outcome of this proposal. I have no gripes about the badge being given out free, nor do I have gripes if anyone wants to obtain one and reject me for not having one. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:05:52 PM | Admin you say I just upgraded serious members
Admin you upgraded certain members from free members to free serious members how do you know they are serious members .
All i see is that serious members have no more credability than people that have joined POF
Admin so what do we call the people on POF that are not (serious members ).
Do we call them leftovers .
Could you help us out so we know what to call ourselves please we seem to be a new type of fish out of water maybe we have turned into frogs .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now this is A thinking Person This is all a way of putting more money in somebody's pocket about $18,000,000+++ Extra. a Year
His Right their many members that Got It For FREE! Many just say, almost all women get this feature for Free!
I guess on POF Some people think that the rest are clueless to what`s happening. Especially on the Forum Threads !
Doesn'T this Site advertise as 100%FREE! That`s false advertising in the USA?
I`m just asking i`m not from The USA.
Well {Leftovers} Sounds good to me welcome to the Pond | |

From MSG 259 {OK, I'm surprised this thread isn't deleted by now. It's obvious most people are against the original reasons or concept for the change. }
Yes lets all delete the Thread

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:23:21 PM | | Why is that funny nordion? I'm not sure you just find it humorous or agree. Don't you think by this point enough is enough? That's usually the purpose of thread intended to garner opinions here. Maybe you think it's got lots more potential for suggestions and constructive comments, I'm not sure. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:33:28 PM | Well His The Chief, The Boss! Delete his Thread I`m sure he would love this! I`d be on the floor.
Look no big deal many things you don`t know about Forum Threads, Like watch out do don`t get one of them P Of !
Look at MSG 15.
Websites have costs...
Costs such as:
Design Marketing Web Hosting, dedicated servers, backup servers etc. Bandwidth (the amount of information the website can transmit, cost is usually calculated by the GB) Maintenance
and the website owner has to cover his living expenses too and entertainment and so on... So it's ok if he charges for services...
BUT I don't think the idea of selling "serious" member logos will really help the members much. Finding a match is not rocket science! It's not hard and complicated, I think people just make harder than it really is. Especially the ladies..
LOOK At MSG 25 March 24, 2006 Exclusive Interview with PlentyOfFish.com creator and owner, Markus Frind by Andrew
As I reported a few days ago, Markus Frind, the owner of the free dating site PlentyOfFish.com has been pulling in $10,000 a day from Adsense. What is even more remarkable is that he is single handedly (with a little help from his wife) running one of the largest dating sites on the internet. I asked him if he would like to do an interview for the .
Do you know how much he makes on Google adds, A Year! You would be in Shock.

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:41:36 PM | OK well, I wasn't suggesting it be my decision to delete it, was just questioning Admin not deleting it yet, like they did the original one when they asked for opinions. After a point, they removed it, and I feel this one has basically become somewhat redundant in the posts and opinions. I really don't concern myself with reasons for the upgrade or the costs of running the site, as I said, I've enjoyed it thus far and if there's a reason why things have to change, they will. If there's no reason why things have to change but it's just a business decision, that's something to be weighed due to the propensity of the backlash expressed here. I do think that may be taken into consideration, otherwise, why ask? Plus the little test so far may, or may not, influence decisions about future changes. After all, the final decision is not up to any of us, but the benefits versus the losses, as expressed here and taken into all those business projectories in the long run, may affect that.
That being said, I'm sure I'm about to reach my "maximum posting allowance" for this thread! That was for you, Markus. LOL | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/9/2009 9:57:46 PM | Why ask ? advertising to try to convince that all These features are worth you spending the money.
What do you think this was done to get everybody on the bandwagon. Many got FREE Member ships others did not, this has made others mad why not me. Causing feuds with in Alliances formed on Forum Categories!
Why do they get for free and we don`t! Animosity.
Thats why at First you saw many women with that Gold member ship to con the men to do same, But the men have to pay.
SO Great Let there be an Organised Back lashing. With out use on this site Marcus would of been just a regular Joe. Now he can Live like a King For few centuries just on the Interest his`s Made.
But if his wife divorces Him! Well she will be the one laughing all the way to the bank by USA LAW. | |

Nice try, though. | |

He makes enough from ads that to ask the members, who signed up based on a free membership and all the stuff that goes with it, that NO ONE should have to pay to be considered "serious". Is Markus getting greedy? | |
|
| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/13/2009 9:15:16 PM | | If every time someone clicks on anything makes money for the site, then it's making a lot just from me, cuz I click... A LOT! However, I never click on any ads, and somehow I think the majority here don't either. So where's the profit in that? | |

|
| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/14/2009 2:12:43 PM | | Ummm I think the pay portion of the site just makes the non pay people look like they have something to hide. They say you are WORTHY enough to pay for the site and you've passed their non psycho test. Those who do not pay look like they might be potential psychos. | |

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/14/2009 2:28:38 PM | I NEVER see ads on this site; I don't know what you're talking about.
(try upgrading your browser to FIREFOX with the free AdBlock plus. ) Ironically, it's the browser every major moderator here suggests POF users use. Shrug.

| New Serious Member Feature. Posted: 4/14/2009 5:21:48 PM | Hey James, I think that my mind has trained itself to ignore the ads, except when I view a profile and I hear this emotie calling out "helllllloooooooooooooooooo!" Then I don't want to stay there very long.
I was just wondering if even though I don't click on the ads (since I don't look at them anyway), does the site make money every time I view a profile, or post on a forum, or read a forum, or check my favorites, etc. | |
