I like being able to edit or unsend the message if it has not been read, so would love those features.
As for 16 pictures, I can't imagine why would would need to put up that much, but to each his own. M

I would like any e-mail in my in-box that I don't delete on my own to stay there indefinitely! I get e-mails from some very attractive and interesting men but then they're gone...a lot of that is my fault, I know, but it's because of my style of not dating and preference to meet at events. I know I could favorite them but then I can't recall what they wrote at a future date, short of printing and creating files, who has time for that?

That was an impulse buy for me and I now wish to remove it from my profile. I don't even care if I get a refund. Ideally would like the option to display it or not. Surely this is not too much to ask??!

Please help!

Please create a "play area" forum for 18-25 year olds to post threads so it keeps the kiddies out of the adult arena.

I get creeped out for guys to see I am "on line now".
I click on to read forums and get blasted by some pest because he knows I am on line.

I understand the need to have some extras for paying members and have no problem with what you want to provide to the paying members. However, I think a spell checker would be a huge win for everyone not just the "Serious" fish. make it available for emails, for the forums, the profiles, etc. I have what I call SFCF (short, fat, crooked, finger) syndrome and one of these days it wil be recognized as a true disorder. This site could be proactive and make tools available for the likes of me to help prevent some of those DOH!!! moments.
The tools are available and take up minimal space and add minimal overhead to computing time as well.

I'd like to see a spell check feature for Serious or even All members. Some of the profiles I have read are so bad I want to ask the person if I could re-write it for them, but I bite my tongue or would it be fingers???? and move on.

Whenever I see "serious member" it makes me think they must be undateable as they've been here so long. Therefore, I would suggest giving serious members the option to hide their status, also just a thought, wouldn't it be better to change the name to "gold members".

All other dating sites use gold member to describe people who've paid extra, serious member just sounds a bit desperate, no offence.

other features I would recommend include:

Editing messages
Message storage time extended
Upload videos
Chat rooom

Hey ChancesR,

There IS a spell check for POF members.

It's called FIREFOX.

Internet Explorer only took 5 years to copy tabbed browsing, so I'm sure it'll have online spell check in another few years... but the question is why would you wait if FireFox is better in every way now?

I'm just saying.

The serious member feature is a large pile of bovine excrement as far as I am concerned. Give it up it does not appear to be working.

230% increase in the chance of finding someone????....I think that's called False Advertising, from where I'm standing. Can you explain where that figure actually comes from, and under what criteria it is actually judged? In the land of litigation and lawsuits surely that figure needs something to back it up?

I still only get contacted by someone new about once a week (if I'm lucky!.....and it was the same before I forked out for the Serious Member). Nothing appears to have changed, and certainly not to the tune of a 230% increase....maybe more like 0.23%?

Also, I now find out that a lot of the women with the Serious Member thing going on were gifted it, without asking/paying for it. I never frequent these forums so was unaware of that wee fact when I came back on here at the end of my latest relationship. Had I known that, I would never have paid my hard-earned cash for it. It's just not worth it, and if anyone is considering it.....be aware that it certainly apears to makes absolutely NO difference to your chances of finding a relationship on here.....or maybe that's just me?

The serious member status isn't going to help any at all- if people connect they connect openly - w/o being marked serious - unless it a gimick to gain some money for the owner of P_O_F -?

I would like to see a way to delete someone off your favotrites list w/o having to scroll down each time delete and go back to the top to start over each time - it get monotionious at times to repeat the functtion over and over-

Maybe a side checkbox to delete several at a time -that never respones after awhile It would be handy!!

Again this is a good site just need to be twicked- for improvement for the members

I would like to be able to make notes on pics on my page so that I could identify which ones I've emailed with and what the result was, so that I don't forget and email them again. No need to put them or myself through another read deleted.

I'd also like to be able to delete certain pics off of my page when I am on the home page or the inbox. Some people I just don't need to see float by.

I don't know if anybody mentioned it but there's no way I am reading 13 pages...

What about those smiles?

those things. I remember a page where there was like 99 possible smiles that we could use. It would be nice to have them all or just more of them right there besides where you write your messages as a serious member: both on the forums and in private mail.

I also really like the idea of being able to edit my sent messages.

Whenever I get a note from a "serious member" - I think .. "wow .. that money could have gone to so much good at the local food bank..." .. ..
I just don't like waste .. ;)

There's actually a simple way to do that. Use the "update note" feature in your favorites list. I do that so I can remember names & any other important or
pertinent info. Of course you lose all that information if the person deletes you, but that might just be a hint they aren't interested (especially now that
the number of favorites you're on, is gone from your profile - nice improvement btw, bigfish).

Personally, I wouldn't take anymore more "seriously" for being a serious member. Especially now that I've heard some people didn't pay for them in
the first place.

There's so many hundreds of free dating sites out there now, it's difficult for me to even understand why anyone would bother with a paid site, or a paid
membership. Seems stupid to me.

Being a member of one of those dating sites that was advertised on this site and having been a member of sites, this site has the greatest diversity and the 'free' membership adds to that.

Whereas a site like this can have serious trouble from the outside and serious members have put down an additional asset to insure their seriousness, I would think that there needs to be a disparity in services between them and the non-paying member.

I would start with bandwidth.
A serious member should have all the required bandwidth to pursue their goal. Non serious [non-paying] should be limited and have more advertising to support the site, perhaps even exclusive advertising that they have to navigate through (make sure that the pop-up blockers don't eliminate the advertising, thus the counter that yields they income).
Now this sounds nasty to some, but there is an economic reality. Sites cost money to run.

IM was sort of fun, but it is an administrative hassle and it can eliminate one on one contact, due to some that might have several IM's going at once.
Perhaps almost instant email that for the serious member has a side window on the members profile that sent it. It is pretty close to that one may retort, but not quite.

The advanced search could be relegated to only the serious member.

Serious members could have better blocking options, such as blocking before contact.
Be rated and see what the rating member as done, not just the first 10.

Less blocking of attributes for the non-paying or standard member.

In the post:
http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts13162848.aspx
I ask what forum members think of this and have got some post.. seems that those that have posted don't want change, but as the site grows change is going to be inevitable for the for mentioned first reason.

Standardizing interest classification seems inevitable, as some are already.

Now from using Irfanview photo viewer, I've noted that this site 'scrubs' the EXIF info, but it would be nice if it kept some, such as the DATE that the photo was TAKEN. I think this should be availed to the serious user. One could then tell if the photo is current or perhaps a web grab.

Anyway.. just some thoughts.

It won't take much change and I'll become one Serious Member also.. [at this time I'm waiting to let an 'interest' type pay date site membership to expire].

Sincerely, Thomas

Marcus.. you have the best site out their.. keep it up and sell toothpaste adverts if it works..

Exclusive Interview with PlentyOfFish.com creator and owner, Markus Frind
by Andrew

As I reported a few days ago, Markus Frind, the owner of the free dating site PlentyOfFish.com has been pulling in $10,000 a day from Adsense. What is even more remarkable is that he is single handedly (with a little help from his wife) running one of the largest dating sites on the internet. I asked him if he would like to do an interview for the blog, and he agreed.

_________________________________________________________

Well with Canadian taxes his spendable income would only be as much as a moderate CEO of a mid-sized company..
What gives?

Marcus should be able to benefit from his endeavors.

It is remarkable that some want a free handout (wether it is joking or not, it still was expressed)..

By a lottery ticket and get in line.

Suggestion

How about being able to keep your "viewed me" and "matches" in order. Like being able to put a check mark besides the ones you have already viewed. Maybe something like not interested, interested, medium check marks so you know where you stand on the ones you have already viewed. Or even just being able to delete the ones you are done with from the list.

10k a DAY from adsense ? One might assume that the paid dating sites that are linked on POF are also paying for the exposure.

Marcus, I'm grateful for your site. It's free, and you have Forums as well. My complaint is that instead of giving your subscribers MORE, you have taken away the I M feature, and therefore, you are giving them LESS.

Could you tell us how asking people to pay to become a Serious Member, and dropping the I M feature have helped your company's image ?

I didn't upgrade, but though it's odd. they changed their format and I have 16 images.

If the married people would take a hike, maybe I would, but we know that will never happen.

I want to get the serious member feature so I can add more pictures (I'm an attention-whore like that), but I'm afraid it'd make me look desperate :(
