I just upgraded serious members to allow them to have 16 images instead of the standard 8.

What do you guys think of being able to edit your sent messages, as long as the reciever hasn't read them?

I don't think the extra photos or the possibility of editing sent messages adds any value. There's such a thing as photo overkill. There are those on other sites who post 10 or more photos. It becomes self-indulgent somewhere around ten photos. As for the chance to edit emails, that has zero value.

The whole "serious member" thing is just a tweak of the paid virtual gifts idea, which flew like a lead balloon. This site is either going to be 100 percent free or turn pay, likely the latter. This tiptoeing about somewhere in the middle isn't going to fly.

What about the ability to change fonts or colors on your profile or does that just get to annoying?

Don't think it's something worth paying for...
Yes,too many colors can be difficult on the eyes...
Maybe make certain emoticons "upgradable".Or possibly added avitar signature for forum posts.

The only added feature that would be awesome is if you had chat rooms where people could interact with each other without being limited to two posts to every 10 responses.....the forums are great but chat rooms would let you actually make conversations without leaving the site for the people that are cautious about giving outside information.......I know you have IMs but alot of times they dont work......

JMO....... I dont believe the fonts and colors would matter......

Marcus add a shytload more animated icons to play with to the upgraded AND add a ton more gifts to send... ohhh and maybe a facecutouttemplate that us ladies can add our face to a cutout standing next to you would make em all melt with envy....

How about a separate Forum section just for Serious Members? Everyone else could read-only, not post to them.

Ok, I'm bracing myself....shield's up Scotty.

How about letting serious members save their emails to and from others for a lot longer, say four months?

I'll upgrade now, RIGHT NOW, if you lift my five post a day restriction, Markus.

You need revenue? Make it a straight out paid site. I would pay and I don't care. Just another bill, like cable, and I hardly watch TV.

I don't know what the other paid sites charge. Keep it reasonable.

As far as new features go, how about the ability to delete other forum users posts. Ha-ha.

As a matter of fact, how about if I could delete their profiles but they couldn't do it to me. lol

Edit: some people endorse the notion of removing the favorites feature. Please don't do that. I am a seriously height challenged loser and those numbers are my whole identity and self esteem. I got 81 and counting. Those numbers and my testimonials are the measure of my entire self worth and manhood.

Are you KIDDING me? You wonder if offering a different COLOR font or background makes someone more "serious"? Or more likely to "join" so they can have that option?

Me thinks this is a case of nouveau riche..............I'm waiting for my permanent ban...........bring it on. NOT because I "deserve" it...........but because I don't agree AT ALL with what you're doing. I've said as much and my forums have been deleted........

I'm not the only one that thinks this "new" stuff is whacko...........why don't you listen?

If I remember right from the vote, 84% of the members that voted didn't like the idea of the "serious member" proposal.

I've also read from others that you've been giving out Serious Members to random individuals to "seed" the look of POF....and that is a tried and true form of marketing.... let people think that they have to jump on the bandwagon....good psychology.

I think if you are going to add new features, most likely you'll have to do a "re-vote", to see if members will go for it. However, images tend to take up server space....so your overhead will increase and be counterproductive as you'll have to expand your hardware.

Anyway, just a thought. I was involved in something like this corporately a few years ago, and after all was said and done, they actually returned to the status quo to save the expansion costs and increase overhead...not to mention headaches. It is a "lessons learned" I wanted to share wth you.

You've got a jewel of a great website here and have virtually cornered the market, why tamper with something that works? All you would do is have pay users to your competitors, for they would create disinformation and say the reason you are switching to pay was that you'd be losing users....and your ad revenue would be affected.

As I said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Your competitors are waiting for one of your shoes to drop, don't give them the satisfaction. You've got the market sewn up, Markus.

16% For it is a super high number. On the average paying dating site 16% of all users signed up pay at some point.

Thanks for the site Markus!

Any other features that might be useful to ad ?

I have a couple of ideas:

1. Add a feature that allows one to choose how they prefer to handle the costs incurred in the first meet/date/dinner. It seems to be a point of contention in the forums. A simple check box for individual preference could no doubt free-up a lot of memory.

2. This might get me in banned camp, but you asked! Perhaps a feature that allows forum users to log a complaint against a moderator would be useful. This is another contention in the forums. Sometimes it seems the mods apply the rules arbitrarily. Might be useful info for you to have when making decisions.

Personally, I don't think the "pay for the upgrade" will pan-out well for you. Just my opinion.

Thanks for asking!

I wouldn't pay for privileges to be in any chat room.

I wouldn't pay for privileges to have different colored fonts either.

I keep finding men with those yellow "serious member" buttons and a lot of them don't even have pictures. A couple of them are just separated and all they talk about in their profiles is hugging and kissing on the first date.

Several of them just want IE. I suppose someone who is "serious" about finding an IE might be glad to have the yellow "serious member" button ... and might even be thrilled to be able to put up twice as many pictures ... given that most of the men who are seeking IE are married and never post even one picture.

Well, after perusing some of the other sites out there...this is still the best and fastest-working site around!

Whatever you do, I'm going to enjoy what POF has to offer...only Free!

btw...all the added features wont make it slow moving, will it??

I suppose a lot of people would find it annoying, personally I would love it!

Marcus add a shytload more animated icons to play with - Briannazg2

I have always wished their were more emoticons. One of the main reasons I switch to MSN after chatting awhile, is the emoticons here, both for IM & email,
are very limited. I collect smiley graphics from free grpahic sites on the web & add my own to MSN. It's awesome!

More pictures? What would that prove? Some are so poor quality, more won't make it "better". Edit messages? Why? Geez I have spell check on my computer. As for ads, I have pop up blocker, so I don't see any of them anyway. None of this stuff or the gold blob make me think anyone with it as more serious than anyone else.

I think this is just a ploy for Markus to get more people to upgrade. Which also proves how much of a joke the new feature is.

Nope. POF is still NOT getting a penny of my money.

I parodied the "feature" in my profile pic

I think Big Fish should change the name of this service. Call it an upgrade or a gold membership...but calling it serious member does slam the non paying group as non serious.

I think any upgrade could be fun, it seems cheap too. I am enjoying what is free at the moment, but if you added enough bells n whistles, and changed the name of this service, you may see huge profits from it.

What about the ability to change fonts or colors on your profile or does that just get to annoying?

I think it would be a bad idea. I can't tell you how many sites I've come to where it is very difficult to read because the text & background colors were close to the same color.

I always liked the way you choose your colors because they were easy to read & don't cause as much eye fatigue. I hope you never make it like a myspace page because every page I go to is always too slow with music/background pictures ect. So far all the pages load really fast & thats the way they should be.
