Maybe not color, but from somebody who misplaces her reading glasses on almost a daily basis, I think options for font size is a great idea! There has been more than one occasion when on IM, I accidentally blocked a guy instead of sending him a kiss...which brings me to....Move the block button to someplace far away from the smoochies! lol

Markus, I think it is time to listen to your current members. Actually listen.

When you make a poll (and most were against your "upgrade", were they not?), DO listen to what you are being communicated.
Otherwise, you're just coming across as a pigheaded bully.

I like the idea of reporting moderators or being able to democratically (yup, am spoilt that way) voice our concerns without being banned.

You want improvements? Ask in a poll and go with what 90% say. Otherwise ..well..you're not the most respected person by asking questions and turning deaf ears on the answers.

By the way, what do you call people less than truthful - that is a jab at the "100% free site" advertisements.

Yes, you can ban, dispose of, silence those who do not agree with you. Saddam did, too. It still does not change what we are trying to say: KEEP THE SITE FREE.

My sister is now a Serious Member. I asked her if she paid and she said no, it was just given to her. She has 3 pics on her profile, I have 8. It's nice to think about adding features for those who actually pay and may want them. What's nice about My Space and Facebook, you can put whole albums of pictures, unlimited pictures, for free, and you can also use those social sites for dating if you want, the only thing is some people are more protective of their privacy on those sites and only let already-accepted friends view them. I consider myself a Serious Member of POF, but not desperate or "on the hunt" or "prowl." There's something not healthy-feeling about that to me. That doesn't mean I'm not serious but that's why I like events, I prefer meeting people in person. Additional features to my profile to glamour it up and attract suitors just doesn't appeal to me for those reasons. Thank you Markus, thus far. I love the POF events and the people I've met in person, the Forums and the variety of topics and the in-depthness of discussions allowed. Also, although the "all-inclusive looking-for" lets in a lot of dreck, I liked the openness and acceptance of those who are here for "other" reasons, which you may be now trying to get away from, which is what truly made this site unique.

I can't tell you how many sites I've come to where it is very difficult to read because the text & background colors were close to the same color.

I agree, on My Space some profiles have so many different colors, pictures, etc., they crash my computer just trying to open them, and they are so bright and full of graphics they give you a headache just trying to read them.

It's ok to offer this service if someone wants to join. I do not think it is right for the administration to upgrade someone to the serious member status without their consent. My status was automatically changed. I do not want to be "serious status". How can that status be removed?

BFTB!

Seriously,

I see profiles that are seriously 2 to 4 lines of the "standard" stuff...and they shuck out what ever the cost is for the "Serious" badge....

Perhaps, the fee should cover help with a profile that says more than "if you get past my picture you won't be further impressed."

By the way, what do you call people less than truthful - that is a jab at the "100% free site" advertisements.

The "100% free" has been removed from the opening page. It now just says "Free Dating Site," which is truthful. I haven't paid anything, and everything that worked before still seems to be working now.

I think that being able to buy the serious but then make it optional to displayit or not - either on profile OR in email (like with teh pics, so it could not be on profile but be in email)...

Also, I really like the idea of being able to keep old emails longer...4 months would be really nice. I've often tried to go back to one and can't b/c it is gone. Anotehr is keeping forever the first contact emails...one email per contact is not a big deal. I've gotten an email before and wondered...didn't he email me before? And weren't the words the same? and gotten frustrated at not being able to read it again b/c too much time went by.

If you add on nice little extras w/the upgrade some people (like me) would consider paying...but I would NOT want serious member on my profile.

The additional pictures would be nice, but I'd rather it be a clickable "album"...so 8 on profle, but then you have an album you can display on profile (a link to it) or send someone the link to it inyour message to them.

So I see joeblow and I message him "hi cutie, let's go dancing" and I include in the message a link to my album... that would be cool and a nice perk.

But again, all of this has GOT to be with it optional to display the badge...to turn it on and off like everything else.

I don't care about editing messages before they are read... quite frankly at least 90% of messages I receive are very poorly written...dumbas* errors. Mine usually have typos b/c I type fast and am lazy... that won't change.

Oh, how about making message length longer? I've received and sent messages that were cut off for being too long...

What about not having to display the advertising on your profile if you pay for the upgrade? that would rock. Think about it...do you THINK I like showing other hot chicks pictures on my profile??? I hate it. Why would I want to show a prospective bf some other hot chick?

And lastly sure bring in non-dating advertising...that's a good way to make more money.

I still say sell books as well...

I think some good features to add (even to unpaid members) would be:

1. a save message feature
2. def offer to allow forum posts to show or not show
3. Get the IM system to work better or faster or something
4. Chat room is a great idea
5. Allow people to make testimonials on people that aren't "shared" favorites

ha ha I noticed that too, and a lot of them are 10 years younger than me, how fair is that? One time my sister was up there lol (we're only 14 months apart). Like anyone needs help finding them. I wouldn't pay to not have them there though.

If I could have added features, it'd probably be a local chat room and the option to save e-mails.

I don't know why but this has never bothered me. I remember one that used to crack me up where this cute little gal with a laptop would be wiggling in her seat and winking at you while she is typing away. I couldn't believe anyone bought that stuff.

I'm going to add a option in the mail settings where you can either display "Serious Member" on your profile or "VIP Member"

For all of those wanting to archive messages longer than 30 days ~ I'm not sure if everyone realizes this or not, but you can delete every single message but ONE in your inbox and still view an incredible amount of dialogue. They are in order, they are in full and they are printable if you REALLY need to keep them. If you are writing for longer than 30 days, move to real email where you can archive at will. I don't think it's really the POF server's responsibility to archive immense amounts of email. But that's just my opinion.

I think that's an ideal option.

It would be nice if forums were user friendly. It shouldn't be too burdensome to have a little mouse clickable italic/bold/underline/quote. Even the poor free sites offer those basic options. JMO

I'm hard pressed to find 8 images that are flattering, never mind 16 images. How about adding a chat feature for "Serious Members"?

Perhaps free-for-alling the pictures so SM's can display pictures not of themselves that they feel would express something about them that they cannot put into words. Many people have asked for it in the past, I'm sure some of the serious members would appreciate it.

The ability to change e-mail restrictions to the profile being completely hidden from "undesirables". Many use the favourites list as a way of attracting the attention of people they can't e-mail. Remaining visible only to people whom meet their criteria would protect SM's from being bothered by the dregs.

Like has already been said and acknowledged, I think changing it from Serious to VIP (or almost anything else for that matter) would probably be very wise. Serious seriously sounds much too gimmicky. It sounds like something that should come with a money-back guarantee.

I admit, I haven't read everyone else's posts, but I did want to ask if Markus/admin/the site would consider paying its moderators for their services with the new revenue generated from the "serious member" upgrades?

And if anyone doesn't want their complimentary gold button upgrade, I'll take it. I'm not proud.

BTW, I think the new virtual gifts are cute, but the steak picture made me LOL.

I'd like to be able to be completely private, I don't like it posted so publicly when I'm online, you don't even have to be a member to see who's online!
We should have a choice if we are displayed to the general public or just to members who are signed in.

8 or 18 pictures its still gonna be the same--same people but different poses/angles same results..you cant stop the world to get serious and crap ...we still gonna meet the good ,bad and in between fish(es) in the ocean err your site.
really .....what you doin is full of crap.

sorry im being honest for what i feel.

Also the word "serious "to me ......its like people who are landed in ICU(Intensive Care Unit) ya know in serious condition.
