I'd like the option to post photos that are not auto-0ptimized and resized. If you give me a certain file size limit and the max dimensions, that's fine, I can work with that. But I absolutely hate the auto-optimizer/resizer that this site uses. It's nearly impossible for me to post any photos I'm happy with because of this.

Unlimited text in the About Me section

I've maxed out mine a time or two, and I know another person that cannot add without removing something..

What?? You've got to be kidding,,right?? Ive also seen profiles where the About Me section was almost like a short novel!! What on earth could you possibly have to say that takes up THAT much room that you've hit the max?? I'll bet most i fsh had no idea there was a max. I highly doubt most users want to know everything from the day you born to the present!

*shaking head and *

As I said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Your competitors are waiting for one of your shoes to drop, don't give them the satisfaction. You've got the market sewn up, Markus.

Hello Markus- founder of P_O_F

I enjoy this site as it is - but the idea of charging people for a serious status is only a gimmick for you to make money!!! My question what does a "SERIOUS STATUS" mean- I am seroiusly looking - do I have to be branded as such -NOPE!

I would think anyone on any dating site is serious about establishing friendship leading to short term or long term relationship at any level that want it to be- from freindships to long term relationships to marriages! I think thats the ultimate goal for the majority-

The only change i see needed is a check box to delete multipal favorites at one time instead of individusally because it take up more time individually-
I would also suggest if the orriginator of a forum want to delete his or her forum after a set time then they should be allowed to do so - sometimes the subjects can become a negative contribution instead of an open minded dicussion for the future. JMHO

I also think -IF IT AIN"T BROKEN DON"T CHANGE IT!!!

Admin...I don't know why you would even ask for our opinions seeing you did the first time and got a heap of people telling you why they didn't like the idea, but still you went ahead..So does our opinion really matter? Perhaps you should send a private email to all the members that have upgraded and ask them; after all they’re the ones that need to know this stuff.

First off Markus...... thanks for a fantastic site, i have used it on and of these past 2 years!!

One idea for improving this site is to be able to send an "no thank you" response to emails by clicking on one button...... and possibly a short list of reasons underneath....

- because of distance
- because of age
- because of attraction
- because of interests

So many people do not send replies because of either not wanting to hurt peoples feelings or for fear of getting a negative response "whats wrong with me then!!"

I know another large site which uses this feature, and i have sent out these responses and received them back with no feelings hurt on either side..... just something for you to consider.

We've heard other sites mentioned, as to what they offer, like facebook and myspace. Perhaps it's worth comparing dtaehookup also. That site has most of what you have been offering OP, and it's still free, no charges. Perhaps finding something the other free sites "don't" offer would be worth looking for. There are a ton of ideas floating around this thread already.

Unlimited text in the About Me section

You mean that's not already unlimited??? I have seen some profiles that looked like they'd take a day to read, HAHA! I like Message Recall, approving testimonials, and the ability to hide the number of favorites, too.

Admin, the scuttlebutt round these forums is that you gave free serious memberships to some women on this site who were single/not looking.

I have one, and honestly, it's being wasted, since my profile is hidden from the searches. I wish it wasn't there, because if my fiance didn't know me better, it could look to him like I paid to meet someone here! (his testimonial is at the bottom of my profile, and he logs in to read my posts, so he'll see this one too, I guess.)

I suppose having met my fiance here, it could be "good advertising," ("hey look, she's a serious member, and she met her future husband here!") but I'd like to have had the option to have it there or not.

I believe every member, serious or not, should be able to search within a specific age bracket. Will you ever have this feature available??

Admin, being able to change your colors and fonts is something that people actually do pay for on another site I belong to. It's very popular there, people like being able to "customize" and make it their own.

That feature is already there in the search engine .. you can narrow it down to age, location ..

I still think a 'scratch n sniff' would make it easier to tell if there's chemistry

I'm too sexy for the upgrade Headlines

2. This might get me in banned camp, but you asked! Perhaps a feature that allows forum users to log a complaint against a moderator would be useful. This is another contention in the forums. Sometimes it seems the mods apply the rules arbitrarily. Might be useful info for you to have when making decisions.

I don't know...I think the moderating in the forums has gotten a LOT better than it used to be. I know why, too, but I'm not saying. I don't want to get sent to The Village of the Banned, either. HAHA! Let's just say that the mods who are still with us seem much better at separating real complaints from just someone trying to get someone else banned, than some former ones. There was a point in time when 20 of us would be banned at the same time, for what seemed like no real reason, and that just doesn't seem to happen anymore. It's a good thing.

I do agree that paying the mods is a good idea. For several reasons. I'm afraid I don't want to risk "another" banning by saying why.

Markus, DEFINITELY change it to VIP member, I might not mind that on my profile so much as SERIOUS member. Like I said before, if my fiance didn't know me as well as he does, (heck I'm sitting here on HIS computer as I type,) he might think I paid to try and meet someone new! And that ain't happening, I got what I wanted and the grass will NEVER be greener!

Bigfish,

Perhaps the fee for being "Serious" could include a profile help service. I see profiles that are as short as 2 lines, no interests listed, and stats non-disclosed...and these have the "I'm Serious" badge. And yes, I know in the forums there is a profile help forum, but then most of these profiles are from members who do not participate in the forums.

Were I currently looking... I'd think that these kind of "serious" members of POF were delusional in thinking that a "Serious" button makes them look serious to other's.

7. Day care for those still growing up!
8. A buffet.
9.VIP parking or at least validate.
10. A full time guard for the shallow end of the gene pool!

Haha, you forgot the Open Bar! I'll have a margarita please! On the rocks with lots of salt!

I am REALLY curious now..........I wrote a response.........at least a paragraph long.....and it never even appeared! Was it deleted by you.......Markus? Or an unpaid moderator? Perhaps the same that deleted my forum post last week (that was NOT against the rules) and banned me for yet another reason (the two times were not inclusive)? I've also noticed that some of my "responses" on the forums might make it on...........but then they're gone! From P.O.F. to POOF!

Wow! How pathetic to even question the possibility!!

What do you mean, xtc29? I always searched within specific ages. I searched from ages 38 to 48. Are you using the Advanced Search? You can put in just about any criteria you want to.

2irish1, there IS profile help. There's a forum here just for that. it's called Profile Review, and you can get a lot of good advice there. Problem is, lots of people just dont' care about their profiles, which is a shame, because I will take someone with a well written profile more seriously than someone with three lines and a big gold star any time!

Any other features that might be useful to ad

Funny how the powers that be are free to ask any question about the "new" feature, but let anyone else ask a question about it and the thread gets deleted. Hmmm, odd how that works.

Hi Poster's,

And yes, I know in the forums there is a profile help forum, but then most of these profiles are from members who do not participate in the forums.

msg#101.....thanks for the help Spoken For...

I think, though, that you'd missed my point....there are many POFer's out there that haven't a clue what a profile could look like, don't take the time, or are not serious....I see them....they are online all the time....they now have the "serious" button....and yet their profile says..."I'm not serious enough to say anything about myself or whom I'm looking for.

These are people who apparently do not even know forums exist...or how much valuable dating info exists out here....maybe bigfish can assit them and add value to them....either by steering them to the forums...or by offering a profile assistance program...much like other dating sites have....just a thought...if your going to charge....the "Serious" button is just another emocotion (sp)..and adds, in my opinion, no value for the $

I think people with "nothing" for a profile are just here to "look around" and really aren't serious about anything. How often does anyone look at their own profile? They probably don't even know the big gold star is even there! It's not their fault if they didn't put it there, they don't KNOW it's there, and they can't remove it even if they do know it's there!

At least Admin is going to give us the option of displaying it or not.

I'd like to be able to be completely private, I don't like it posted so publicly when I'm online, you don't even have to be a member to see who's online!

If you hide your profile then nobody can see you or when you're online, but your profile is still viewable through the forums or by those you've had e-mails with or on favorites.

We should have a choice if we are displayed to the general public or just to members who are signed in.

I think there already is such a feature which I'm using. I can't remember if just my screen name shows up with a note "you must be a member to view this member" or if nothing comes up at all though.
