Certainly not fussed when it comes to colour or culture - best blowj*b I ever had was from a Chinese lady many years ago!!!!!
If I'd been worried about her skin colour I'd have missed out on that experience.

I would be put off anyone who stated "no blacks" or "no whites" in their profile .... not because of their preference (or prejudice) but because of mine - I prefer open minded people.
Have to say I am another one who bolts from profiles when i see this.. and I absolutely agree with the reason why.... If i want to talk to someone, or even meet them, I want them to like me for me... not because i am black... or tall, or funny... okay scrub that one.... but I want my personality to shine thru....
what we have on the outside is merely a shell.... we all breathe the same air and bleed the same blood!
I am not going to get into attacking people because what we are suppose to do here is have fun....smile..... and i think that sometimes we look at things so seriously and from a million different angles is that we forget why we are here!!

In the past, it has put me off getting to know them better. The reason for this is that I'd like to think they want to get to know me & like me as a person, not for the colour of my skin.
From reading this thread & other threads, it does seem it's down to personal preference. I'm sure there are men who don't date chinese women as well, that doesn't bother me.
These threads have taught me not to read too much when a guy tells me he likes asian women. If I like the look of him (yes I'm shallow) plus there's something in his written profile that I like then I should get to know him.
I don't have any preference with regards to what race a man is but I do like my men to be taller than me & I don't do overweight.....if that makes me shallow & a fatist then so be it.
It is funny that the non whites on this thread are pretty chilled out about this stuff. It does seem that a few whites are the ones bickering about it. I find it quite fascinating & hilarious at the same time. | |

It is funny that the non whites on this thread are pretty chilled out about this stuff. It does seem that a few whites are the ones bickering about it. I find it quite fascinating & hilarious at the same time.
I find it more funny that some are feeling so affronted at others preferences ........Do they have rejection issue's ??

Even though I am a bit camp myself, and classified as what they call 'gay friendly', I do not fancy men. And whilst I do not get any messages from gay men, if I did and it was becoming an issue then I probably would state on my profile, and to paraphrase Monty Python, "No poofs".
However, the reason for not wanting gay men has nothing to do with homophobia, but everything to do with the fact that I just don't fancy men.
Therefore, in my opinion, it is perfectly legitimate to state that you only want contact from a white / black / Asian / Irish person if you find that ethnic group particularly attractive and others not so. What is slightly worrying is if a profile has this ethnic restriction not based on attractiveness but based purely on the fact that they are Black / Asian / Irish etc.
This does of course work both ways, the woman who will only date black men because they are black, or the man who will not date black women because they are black, and vice versa obviously. | |

well done, so now you've changed your own question... nice try... and in a sense since one of the things you fill out is "i am seeking......." that could already be construed that way...and if someone was reading my profile then i would hope that the I am seeking A Woman would be a bit of a dead cert giveaway...howver if people don't bother reading and then want to "fish" so to speak thats up to them... however if i don't reply then they have no one else to blame but themselves.... can't say i didn't tell them
maybe its my belief, and i am beginning to think its me being an eternal optimist, that there are more nice people on the site than bad ones, so why would you rule out one sort of people based on something people can't control......... it would be like me giving blood and then saying "well... i don't like white people, can you not give it to them please!... obviously thats just a preference........ As far as I'm aware there are people of different colours from Dorset however i will entertain this poor analogy .................It would be their choice if they chose to tar me with the same brush and their individual preference whether they wish to contact me or not based on that preference.

lets go back to the very first sentence in the thread... remember the title you put in the thread... oh yeah..... profile preference of colour!
Following on from the thread about self esteem and shallow men it got me wondering how people percieve those with preferences for skin colour on their profiles i.e 'Female seeking black males only' or vice versa.
so you go from colour to talking about straight people and gay people.... and then when i give you a different example..... its back to solely colour again.... at least make your mind up mate....
you want a straight answer... i'll give you one..... in fact i did but you seem to have missed it last time...
do i answer peoples profiles with "i am only looking for white people" in it..... no, why would i waste my time..... i wasn't the one bleating about the injustice of it all, If people can't see past a colour to see the individual... then quite frankly that is not my problem, thats theres!
do i answer people profiles with "i am only looking for black people" in them..... no, I am more than just a skin colour.... a lot of people may play on that for there own gain, but that doesn't work for me....

okay two examples......
a) if someone has on there profile.. "i am only looking for white people"... as a black guy if i answer their ad... i blantantly haven't bothered to read it...... same thing if a gay guy answered my ad, so do i think i should have to answer them back..... no!
I have had some people say to me "nice profile there" or "i wish you luck"... to which i have replied with a thank you note ... that common curtosy... but then i hope they realise it isn't going any further than that..
the ironic one for me people who have asked for my msn and want to know me better who had " i am only looking for white guys" in the profile.... at that stage i do say no and point out i am very uneasy with it...
b) so i find someones ad i find appealing.... and send them a hello... to which they reply "sorry i am not interested in black guys" do i then send them another reply...... no, why would i? I am not out to change the world... like i said earlier, if they can't see past the colour of my skin then in is not a person i would be interested in anyway

You know you are probably right, there are more nice people on this site than bad ones and having read your posts and profile you come across as one of them. In some respects I do feel sad that by choosing to publicise my preference for something has offended some people as that was not my intention. As a multi-cultural society there is still a struggle to be seen as equal and for our differences not just to be seen but to be acknowledged and accepted. Most people choose to be polite and simply read, delete or respond in the negative to messages from people for whatever reason don't rock their boats. There are pity threads started all the time about lack of messages, too many messages, deleted/unread, etc. Why do you think that is? I think it boils down to lack of communication on people's profiles in a lot of cases. Do we carry on pretending that everyone is equal in our eyes or do we admit to ourselves that we have some preferences over others? If we choose the latter option then it makes sense to specify what those preferences are I would have thought. It doesn't sit comfortably with me that I feel the way I do but that's mainly because I am carrying some guilt and shame about the fact that I can't see everyone as equal in terms of physical attractiveness and that I am attracted to most races but not black, especially when I understand how narrow-minded that must seem to most people. We don't have much choice over a lot of things in our lives but where we do why don't we take it? I do think I may well miss out on meeting some very nice men like yourself but I am simply not attracted to them. I am of Mediterranean descent (Greek Cypriot) and if I saw a profile stating they did not like to date women with olive skin or they didn't like "Bubble and Squeak" (slang for Greek) then I would have to accept that. Quite possibly, I'll be seeing a few of those now anyway!! | |
