| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/19/2009 4:34:32 PM | well i looked through and didn't see this posted....................it always made me feel peace this song............................so i'm posting it...........grrrrrrrrrr ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cat Stevens...................................Peace Train ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now I've been happy lately, thinking about the good things to come And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one And I believe it could be, some day it's going to come
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
Now I've been smiling lately, thinking about the good things to come And I believe it could be, something good has begun
Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train Come on now peace train
Get your bags together, go bring your good friends too Cause it's getting nearer, it soon will be with you
Now come and join the living, it's not so far from you And it's getting nearer, soon it will all be true
Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train
Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss
Cause out on the edge of darkness, there rides a peace train Oh peace train take this country, come take me home again
Oh peace train sounding louder Glide on the peace train Come on now peace train Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone jump upon the peace train Come on peace train Yes, it's the peace train

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/20/2009 9:44:46 AM | Ah, yes, peace train. I'm gonna listen to that one today.
Here's a thought:
Soldiers of all nations could be trained in infant care and do public service time in Nursing homes. So they can learn what it means to bring peace.
Mistaken idea: War brings peace. It only brings intimidation and resentment
|
| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/20/2009 7:30:26 PM | Thank you Grizz.....I have been waiting for someone to post Peace Train.... thought of Cat Stevens when I started this thread.... but now the words feel even more meaningful....
Bicpen.....I agree....I work in a caring nursing home and it is true..... one must be peaceful, especially when caring for alzheimers residents... peace is the energy necessary and always welcome for everybody there....
I also agree with your thoughts - the illusion that war could bring peace..... in my life I see it as energy is contagious.....whatever I put out tends to come back and moreso.....the mirror I refer to so often....and I have never found a time if I've been combative that it has created peaceful energy, but always created more combat, more destruction....and much harder to then try and find resolution in a peaceful way.
Wish to post this here.....written by the Moody Blues.....
"Lost In A Lost World"
I woke UP today, I was crying Lost in a lost world So many people are dying Lost in a lost world Some of them are living an illusion Bounded by the darkness of their minds In their eyes it's nation, against nation, against nation With racial pride [Unclear...] Thinking only of themselves They shun the light (shun the light) They think they're right (think they're right) Living in their empty shells
Oh, can you see their WORLD IS CRASHING (so many people, so many people) Crashing down around their feet Angry people in the street Telling them they've had their fill Of politics, people who kill
Grow... the seed of evolution (so many people, so many people) Revolution NEVER WON It's just another form of gun To do again what they have done WITH ALL our brothers YOUNGEST SONS (so many people, so many people)
Everywhere you go you see them searching Everywhere you turn you feel the pain Everyone is looking for the answers Well look again, come on my friend Love will find us in the end Come on my friend (on my friend) We've got to bend (got to bend) On our knees and say a prayer
Oh, can you see the world is pining (so many people, so many people) Pining for someone who really cares enough to share his love With all of us so we can be An ever loving family Have we forgotten WE'RE ALL CHILDREN (so many people, so many people) Children from a family tree That's longer than a centipede Started long ago when you and I WERE only love.... (so many people, so many people)
I woke today, I was crying Lost in a lost world So many people are dying Lost in a lost world So many people, so many people People lost in a lost world So many people, so many people People lost in a lost world

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/21/2009 4:56:58 AM | ....or suffer extinction....
Religious conviction cause the wars that kill our mate blaming it all on the sinners' fate forgetting the whole point of being in a divine state is to welcome everyone through our heaven-on-earth gate
But so many religions have created false sin and illusion based on fear and division some imagining their followers are the only ones chosen and to the grave we send the other men, women and children as well as destroy the air and land and ocean
We must break down our walls of separation and learn to disagree peacefully to avoid confrontation for our mind and body is suffering from contamination poisoning our heart with negative thought ammunition
Wonder if we could create a much needed vaccination to help us overcome the virus of violent altercation when we don't get our way or believe in a false hierarchy for it seems essential to our survival to let go our rival and bring unity and equality back into our reality
....or suffer extinction.....

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/22/2009 2:44:09 PM | On bended knee when will we choose to be Forthright and unfaltering Enveloped in the serenity of understanding For is not that where we truly are Under (the vast expanse of the unknown) standing Seeking and searching further into a greater expanse that is beyond our reach Listen children to a story that was written long ago Bout a kingdom on a mountain and the valley folk belong On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneathe the stone and the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own Mount A In
...........Turned the stone and looked beneathe it PEACE ON EARTH is all it said
All the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put humpty dumpty back together again
Guess he was just a bad egg

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/23/2009 3:24:18 AM | thank you domut...yes, 'peace on earth'....one day maybe...if only.... peace within would be a great start....if each of us could keep focused on our heart..... and our breath....our natural peaceful balancer, or so it seems to me, when i let myself breathe...
seahorsey....thank you for your Reign of Peace....your first line 'Inner thoughts go to pieces' reflects something I wrote last night and thinking of bringing here.....trying to share the turbulance.... trying to release the pent up energy preventing peace internally... so changing direction a bit here to share more personally.....
oh sweet woman.... please know your words go deeply helping sincerely on a day... well, a week..... even a month, actually, of very unpeaceful energy in me......
rising and falling, crashing and melting, ebbing and flowing with great gusto washing through me with tears uncontrollably i guess eventually to find balance for water always seeks its own level.....
yet when i write, peace comes and i let the ocean of emotion go..... i let the dams open, for it's too much to keep holding them closed....
and when i dance, joy flows and my spirit soars ..... here, in this moment, my piano beckons calling to me to just sit and breathe and play and be free and know soon the calm after the storm will come over me.....
water.....emotion.... such a blessing and also such a force to reckon... we are mostly water with a bit of bone, muscle and skin and still, after all these years, I still can't control my ocean.....
yet when it flows and completely takes me.... when i am free to release... then deep peace and gratitude fill me and all my attitude turns over a brand new Spring leaf that just dropped to my feet....
reminding me while the ocean flows so strongly beneath it must be strong to carry us for so long... and the land is necessary to help us stand while the air supports us from above and with these plus tree and beyond through eternity all this and so much more is what we be.....
a leaf drops to my feet reminding me we are held in the bosom of the Divine cushioned by the heart of Spirit and like a leaf falling naturally to the ground we also fall when we are meant to.... as part of our evolution.....
and like the sun and the moon and the tide of the ocean..... we also must rise....
perhaps the tears in my eyes are just drops of the ocean spray helping me truly this time to swim and not be sucked in and tossed and tumbled and scared seriously I'll never find the light or breathe again....

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/24/2009 10:50:28 AM | Imagine if you can, which I'm certain that is a capability in us all For we all once were children, unencumbered by the duties we must perform Imagine the Earth as a stone Living, breathing, evolving Imagine the hand of our Creator Simply, lovingly Turning that stone over ..."Peace on Earth is ALL it said" Given enough elements/beings/life in creation that project their mind to the simple belief and imagination of a child endless possibilties could occur Could it be that simple? Could all our striving and confoundment All grief and dispair All death and destruction be halted by a simple act of the hand of the Creator? Lets ask ok? | |

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/24/2009 11:09:44 AM | For breath of life is all we need and love our hearts to fill
such kind few words mean well in deed
and peace may all hearts, fill

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 4/25/2009 2:31:42 AM | thanking both of you for your words.... feeling humbled by the energy of your posts....
if we could all turn over that stone within us we could move boulders of injustice where love is desperately wishing to be free like water to flow through surrender and letting go where hearts and souls can finally be peace-filled travelling our journey

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/9/2009 4:16:09 AM | I am at peace. I sigh, letting my energy fly not holding on not seeking thoughts releasing body pain twinges easing heart beating effortlessly body breathing easily in this moment I am free writing...feeling...being...peacefully | |

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/9/2009 8:34:52 AM | Feed us a morsel of compassion and understanding and we have gained at the spread of creations table
Immerse us with a thirst for this gain and our minds will expand in a selfless sense
Provide us with a satiation that goes beyond merely a means with which to feed the physical body
Let us continually drink in the firmament of creation realizing that the gift, the present, is always at hand
Comfort us with the peace that is provided within the knowledge of grace
My spirit became overwhelmed in the wellspring of tears that flowed with the knowledge of the grace that had been bestowed upon me to pen such prose I am not the author, merely one of many receivers

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/16/2009 9:17:29 AM | ^thank you rosie for leaving this quote here.... in my unpeaceful moments recently it came as a wonderful reminder to me....
bringing here a first line/last line written this morning....
heart's living breathing song as we have been all along yet with some distortion bringing cords of disharmony to our singing and alarmingly
heart's living breathing song I exhale and relax to feel my Self grounded and strong as long as I center and be life flows with me peacefully

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/17/2009 3:40:25 AM | as the sun sets the calm within the soul settles to a peaceful feeling of rest
the sun rays sizzle as it enters the water just as we take our last breath of light before the evening enters into a state of dark calm
breathe in breathe out expelling all unrest within us as we exhale we gain the strength for the night

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/17/2009 5:24:58 AM | There are many paths... all leading to the same place... Because there is no other place.
There are two operating systems of thought, only one has reality.
If it is not eternal, it is an illusion, like a dream.
The past has no reality,as it IS gone. Neither does the future, it holds no substance. The present moment can always be divided by three, leaving an infinitely smaller present...
"Nothing real can be threatened, Nothing unreal exists, herein lies the Peace..."
|
| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/17/2009 3:58:43 PM | ^ thank you, k, for your thoughts...... may i ask who you were quoting in the last two lines? i have heard similar lines of thinking and i have heard very different streams of belief also.... such as the idea that time is not real, implying past and future are all contained in this present moment.... also the idea that duality is illusion....that all things contain degrees of the same thing, rather than the concept of opposites as absolute truth..... and there is a line of thinking that everything is in three's, not two's.... and that 'true' reality is really indivisible.....that all is one.... i also know in my mind how illusion is not real, but i have seen it create reality...or the illusion of reality.... :) and now i realize the concept of peace is also subjective - for what is peace for one could be chaos for another..... again, thank you for posting, for clarification is always a blessing, i think.... | |

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/17/2009 5:02:45 PM | my friend bought me a cup that simply says...
peace. it does not meant to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. (unknown)
...it works for me!! hey, i say...keep it simple! ;0}

| ~ Calling For Peace ~ Posted: 5/27/2009 10:50:31 PM | excerpt from 'The Art of Living' by Wilfred Peterson, Simon and Schuster, 1961
'The Art of Being"
'The art of being is the assumption that you may possess, this very minute, those qualities of spirit and attitudes of mind that make for radiant living.
It is a philosophy of being today, instead of becoming in a tomorrow that never comes.
It is recognizing that courage, joy, serenity, faith, hope and love are immediately available now, and proceeding to open yourself so these qualities can be expressed through you in everyday living.
It is following the maxim of Shakespeare: "Assume a virtue though you have it not".... knowing that the dynamic power of habit can build it into your character.
It is being great now, being forgiving now, being tolerant now, being happy now, being successful now, instead of postponing positive and constructive living to some vague and indefinite future.
It is knowing that when we move into the future it becomes the now, and that now is the appointed time!
It is facing the fact that your biggest task is not to get ahead of others, but to surpass yourself.
It is wasting no time dreaming about the rich life you may live next year, or ten years from now; it is beginning to live at your best right now, today.
It is heeding the wisdom of the ancient Chinese seer who observed: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step," and it is taking that step today.
It is beginning today to be the man you want to be.
It is developing an awareness of the infinite possibilities in each magic moment.
It is enlarging the now by pouring into it intense creative energy.
It is immortalizing the present moment that your life may have eternal significance.
It is coming into the full realization that the Master voiced the secret of victorious being, when He declared that the Kingdom of God is not afar off, but that it is within you now!'
