A matter of pride or racist ?

why do people bandy about the words "pc brigade" every time a comment is made that disagrees with a certain school of thought? Do the people calling other people members of the "pc brigade" actually know what it means.

I suspect that people know exactly what the term means, and why they use it.

I've never seen a course on political correctness in the entire time I've been working with young people.

Such courses also deal with 'diversity awareness', which is a very PC-orientated thing. I find it hard to believe that anyone working with children hasn't been on such courses, but it is possible, I suppose....

Thats the sort of thing I hear when I go into a post office deep inside Wales.

I've just Googled both those phrases. (I know, I'm sad). Google reckons there are three spelling mistakes in them.

When speaking with Foreign Nationals and if ever politics becomes the subject. I've always told them to vote for your Nationalist Party, other parties will sink your nation state.

I think the majority of us here agree with the Indian guys attitude and disagree with how he was treated.

Message 101. I think there's a vast difference on attending courses on legislation that you need to know in the line of work that you do about than attending ridiculous courses such as the following

5. Blackness
Occidental College (making the list twice) offers “Blackness,” which elaborates on a “new blackness,” “critical blackness,” “post-blackness,” and an “unforgivable blackness”—all of which combine to create a “feminist New Black Man.”

6. Whiteness: The Other Side of Racism
This is Mount Holyoke College’s attempt to analyze race. The class seeks to spark thought on: “What is whiteness?” “How is it related to racism?” “What are the legal frameworks of whiteness?” “How is whiteness enacted in everyday practice?” And how does whiteness impact the “lives of whites and people of color?”

the guy is the most narrow minded postie around! how many British people live in France, Spain, China, India, the world over and never even get to learn a word of the local language?should they be denied service in local postoffices when they try to send postcards home?

Deva , the postie, is nothing more than an attention seeking, inferior minded immigrant who thinks living in the UK is a privilege( he obviously doesnt value his own routes much). I totally agree that any immigrant who settles here in UK should learn the local language for intergration purposes but Deva's approach is completely idiotic in my view. What is he going to ask for next?! that all immigrants lose their 'dodgy' accents and speak like scousers!?

If its fashionable for British people to go and live in other countries then maybe its high time we accept that the reverse might be true for immigrants coming into this country.

just a thot, nothing personal !

I simpathyse with the newsagent and thought his stance was perfectly reasonable (once you know the details)...however, we've all got the right to our own opinions and yours is just as valuable as mine but there's a phrase in your post that is (in my opinion) dangerous: "inferiorly minded immigrant"...that implies an inferiority and a superiority in a bit of a nazi way. I am sure you didn't mean it that way but these 3 words together lend themselves to that interpretation.
I would still disagree but maybe you could have used "narrow minded individual"?

Smooth 74 (109)

I agree with you.

(Re. D (110)... 'inferior minded individual' might have come across better!).

We are the first to complain about 'foreigners' in our country whilst ignoring the fact that many of our own countrymen live overseas.

Britons abroad are certainly not known for their willingness to integrate with the local community - preferring to form 'little British enclaves'.

Let's not even mention Britain's Empirical past!
