| Long walks on the beach Posted: 4/5/2009 9:48:31 AM | I think the walk on the beach in profiles is a way of getting across that the person is capable of moments of quite reflection.
I agree , is an attempt to express depth of character using as few words as possible and something everyone might relate to. ~
It's not too hard to do, ~ and most of us have done it at one time or another.
I 'll never forget my first attempt to write a profile. ~ It was tough! ~ I found it odd~ attempting to talk about myself ~ and to be subjective, it's almost impossible. I'd not want you to know too much about me, leaving you assuming too much, just tease you some.
I must confess ~ after doing and redoing my profile several times, I decided to just use what little English comp 101 that I had retained and the scoldings I'd received from my teacher after turning in a paper I had labored over and was quit proud of ~ as she torn me apart when she said, " Who is your audience Dance, to whom are you write too?" " You must connect!" " Find your audience "
So, ~ that's what I did, I pandered! ~LOL! and it's worked quit well so far. Thank God for English teachers! ~ I had some very tough ones over the years. They made me stay after school often, carrying home extra work ~ I hated them! ~ It's only now, that I understand why, ~I came from an uneducated family and by the time I made it to the "Big City" ~ I was more like the character Jethro Bodine of the "Beverly Hillbillies" ~ To an English teacher in a public school ~ I was a challenge, an abomination of sorts.
So we do ~ borrow things that we all share in an attempt to connect.
Myself , ~ I associate the beach with some misery and pain ~ and sex on the beach is greatly over rated. ~ Give me a peaceful, shady , flowing brook to calm my spirit and recharge the soul. ~ I like grass and trees!

I like long walks everywhere, pretty much....beach, parks, city, mountains, along the river or canal, etc. Maybe not in the desert. I suppose, if someone puts 'long walks on the beach' and they don't live near a beach, it is something they'd like to do. | |

| Long walks on the beach Posted: 11/6/2009 6:44:57 PM | Walking near the beach is my absolute favorite thing in the world. I walk on the strand at Manhattan Beach, and it's great exercise. Can't imagine that anyone doesn't love the beach! | |
