| Am I old fashion or are guys better looking in jeans and a tee? Posted: 3/28/2009 9:57:25 AM | yesterday a co-worker was driving me home. it was a beautiful spring day here - warm and sunny - and at 5:00 pm, downtown was crowded with people people heading out for Friday night on the town.
co-worker and i were at a stoplight when a couple crossed the street in front of us. i stopped what i was saying in mid-sentence because i could not BELIEVE the get-up the man was wearing. "julie" i said to her, "would you go out in public with a man dressed like that??? would you let him leave the house wearing it???"
mes amies, he was wearing a scarlet velour track suit with some logo all over it. and the crowning glory was the white painter's cap on his head!!!!
julie and i started to choke with laughter...
in light of this discussion, i couldn't believe what i was seeing.
what made it even more amazing is that this couple would obviously fit into our age group right here! (so, moon, before you ask, they weren't students even though it was on Richmond Row!)
i'll take the jeans and t-shirt over the red velour track suit any day!

It is funny but my favorite thing to wear is jeans, but so many men want to wear dress slacks to meet you...I would prefer them in jeans but they say it is a sign of respect when they dress up...unfortunately they resemble my father when they show up with the dress pants and a button up shirt ...normally some sort of plaid or stripe....
It's partially out of respect that a guy will attempt to dress a little better on a first meeting - the real answer to that is, women will badmouth the guy to all her friends for the next 6 months about how much of a lazy slob he was to just wear jeans on a first date, even if they were appropriate (amusement park, outdoor activity, etc.).
I'm lucky in the fact that I work from home and thus wear jeans and a t-shirt every day. Since I'm in a chair at a desk, they have to be comfortable, so I make sure they fit properly. There's no point in wearing clothes I constantly have to adjust. And since weight does fluctuate occasionally, I also don't toss the jeans that might be too snug in the waist this year, or too loose next year - I may need them again. I keep about three sets of them in three general waist sizes depending on how much I'm weighing at the time... and I have at least 4 general shades (light blue, medium blue, dark blue, and black). This way, I know I have a good fitting pair of jeans to wear in public should the need arise that will go with any shirt or occasion. Heck, I went to my 25th high school reunion (2007) in a navy blazer, a white dress shirt, and some light blue Levi's 505s. All my old friends said I looked great. I don't even own a tie, let alone a suit... and the dressiest pants I have are Dockers-type casual slacks - so I know most of the time, my first impression on someone will indeed be in jeans, so they better look and fit properly.
And once they're too worn down to be presentable, they become the jeans for cleaning house or working on my truck.
They work for me. | |

| Am I old fashion or are guys better looking in jeans and a tee? Posted: 3/29/2009 8:57:10 AM | Yes, jeans and a T, for myself as well. I think most men look great in jeans. But since that is what I am most comfortable in, it makes it easier to have the person you are meeting or with, to also like the look. But please guys, make sure the jeans fit, no falling too low, with the top of your butt showing. That look is horrible in the younger guys and when an older man wears jeans that ride down, it is even worse. Put on a belt or buy a new pair that fits , whatever. But when they fit right, they look so good. | |

I get so tired of everyone being dressed the same, it is like a uniform. Jeans and a tee shirt or women jeans and a top. Do people not have any imagination when it comes to clothing? I applaud all those that do go out in clothing other than jeans! You think for yourself!
EDIT: To below, I saw a partial moon on a woman the other night. She was getting something out of the bottom of her shopping cart. No panty, no visible panty lines, nothing but a bright white moon.

...Amen to that. I was in the supermarket yesterday and this guy was reaching down to get something from a lower shelf....and yet again, the dreaded butt crack in all its' glory....exposed for all to see.
Another style I see, mostly on the much younger guys is where they actually are wearing their jeans under the butt, with the underwear exposed. That to me looks ridiculous.

And today it seems that most people who go out in jeans are dressing for the proctologist!!!!!
That's why I am always pleasantly surprised when I see anyone in a pair of jeans that fit well..... It ain't often....

Posted: 3/29/2009 1:09:09 PM | I love most men in jeans, unless they are tight with a t-shirt and have their gut hanging over the waistband. I think that people need to dress to compliment their age, body shape and size rather than just go along with the current fashion trends. In my book, there is also nothing wrong with a man in a great fitting suit...but I am not a fan of speedos...it leaves nothing to my imagination.
I live on the beach which has a great paved running trail...some of the best "eye candy" I have every seen. Nothing like starting the day with a fresh cup of coffee out on the deck watching the daily parade of joggers.

OMG! I just had a flashback to my favorite statement from the "101 Reasons Why a Cucumber Is Better Than A Man" 80s poster:
A cucumber won't wear a leisure suit to your office Christmas party.

My son used to wear the pants that hung down to his knees...they would get pulled down every chance I got. Now he wears pants that fit..My daughter wore hip huggers and her crack was always there when she bent over and so was her thong that was just so tempting...I couldn't pass it up...bad abusive mom? they wear pants that fit...

But..double yum goes to that outdoorsy jeans and tee-shirt look with a nice smile to top it all off.
Oh yes..while we're at it, a man in a leather jacket too. Something about the sound that jacket makes when he's hugging me, and I tuck up underneath it for a good warm snuggle chest to chest..mmmmmmmmm
