I see so many messages about long hair on a guy being a problem. Personally I look like a tool with short hair so Im not about to cut mine for some silly preferences.
Well, that's what it is... a preference.
Like many things in life, that says something about you. What it says is probably very attractive to some people, not so much to others.
About 15 years ago, I had hair down to the middle of my back. I was cool, man! I partied with my buds, drank a six-pack a night during the week and more on the weekends, stayed up all night drinking and playing pool and headbanging... it was awesome! But then I grew up. I was starting a technical school, and one of the staff there was talking to me about how I was learning professional skills, but if I wanted to be treated as a professional I needed to look the part too. I agreed to have my hair cut in an assembly in front of everyone :D I very quickly realized that my hair was not "part of why I was". And yeah, I thought I looked goofy for a while, but now I look at old pics of myself and I have to laugh.
You can't stop people from "judging" you, so why waste time worrying about it? If someone disapproves of your hair, eff 'em... delete her from your search results and move on. | |

I think you're a very good-looking young man, sweetie. My only suggestion would be that you try to stylize it more. Definitely keep the long hair but do something that covers your ears maybe? My son has long hair, and it's gorgeous - he wears a low-slung ponytail with celtic clasps, like that. Also, you obviously have a great face -- but it's eclipsed by that hat. Why not flaunt your good looks? Seriously. Go the gambit. My son's hair is shorter in front than in back, which lets him have little wisps dangling around his face no matter how he wears it. It appears you have natural curl, so if I were you, I would get it 'feathered' (I'm not sure that's the proper term) but have it so the bottom doesn't jut out so far. Amazing. I never would have considered that, but now that I think about it, perhaps it is true. I still think long hair on a man is one of the sexiest things ever, as long as he keeps it clean and in a nice style. I wish men my age didn't have a problem with long hair. PS: You're just gorgeous. | |

Recently been a lot of threads on long hair and what women think of it. I have seen a bunch of posts recently on forum from guys lamenting this site. Getting stood up, no one responding to their emails and such. Common thread was they all had long hair. The social metamorphis (or however one spells it) on the views of guy with long hair from about 1967 through present is an interesting one. | |

Posted: 4/14/2009 3:13:41 PM | i've got long hair and for some girls it seems to be a positive and some girls a negative so guys should just have their hair how they want it as some will like it and some wont so no point trying to have it at a certain length or style as not all girls will like it.
Long hair rocks imo, keeps my head nice and warm and is very comfy. | |

I always thought that people like you for who YOU Are as a person not what you look like. I guess its a material world nowadays you need to be as fake and glam as possible to get noticed. OP -- Dude, it's only an "issue" if you allow it to be one. So you've seen some messages saying that long hair ain't "all that". So what?
So women are saying that they don't like guys with longer hair. So what?
You have a choice. Keep it long and see who comes knocking, or cut it off, look like the rest of "them" and then see if your lot improves. Who knows...maybe that sheeple/metrosexual look may work for you?
Though you did say you looked like a tool...so I'm assuming that you don't wanna look like the rest of "them" afterall.
If you're waiting to find the one that accepts you for who you are - then wait, but don't whine about it. If you just wanna get paired off, then cut the locks, look like the rest of the metrosexual sheeple, and be done with it.
Just make sure you get frosted tips too just to make it count. Can't be a proper metro without two tone hair. Or that "just got outta bed" look. Make it count.

hey some women like it long medium or short or no hair..

Posted: 4/15/2009 7:53:35 PM | I have rarely done more than trim the ends on my hair for 25 years. Among the motivations is just as Mr. Blue Genes says, it serves as a filter. More than one woman over the years has told me I would look great with short hair, and all of those women were far more materialistic than I was. When my hair was shorter, I got lots of dates but not with the kinds of women I wanted.
It has also served as a kind of message. I have been quite happy to be on the margins of certain social conventions and have a distance from those who adhere too tightly to them. I've always been a responsible person, conscientious and even successful where very few people around have had long hair. I have swum upstream a lot, but I don't regret it. Now, in 2009, no one ever tells me to cut my hair for professional reasons as has happened many times in the past.
Now it's getting thin on the top... time to reconsider. | |

That def. set the example for me how men were to keep their hair cut. I have passed the same to my sons. I have always kept a neat (not real short) hair cut on my sons.
It is not about being a fake, it is about being neat. I like my sons to look like two gentlemen and hope they continue that when they grow up.
There is nothing wrong with long hair. Some women like it. Personally, I don't like long hair on a man. | |

Then came anthromorphization and men in caves weaving tall tales of “how did we get here?” And “god” or “gods” were born. Then came “control” and how to enslave a fellow human. Then came Indoctrination and the results of generation after generation of people being submitted to such artificial notions.
Women (whether they will admit it or not) by default are attracted to long hair on men. It simply is the “default” look of a man. Now is long hair the “common?” Nope. Not in this day and age. Keep in mind though “normal” isn’t apart of the equation.
So like I said some women have either convinced themselves or they have had family/society convince them that there is something *WRONG* with long hair on men. When the truth is all along there never was. | |

Come what an offensive thing to say. I also happen to be midwestern (with ancestry from WI/MI that dates back to the end of the last ice age.)
What if wearing “white clothing” was feminine? You really should think before you post inflammatory remarks.
I have several buddies, an older brother and a nephew (bro's kid) who all have long hair and pretty much all of them have women in their lives. I don't see how any of them (personal males I know) are "feminine?" | |
