sir, this is my opinion. where i grew up, guys pretty much had short hair, girls had long hair. i also grew up during the 80's when a lot of the hair band guys had "pretty" hair and wore make-up and used all kinds of product in their hair. i also associate long haired guys with hippies, who never came off as all that masculine. i see long hair on guys as being a bit androgynous. this is my opinion and short hair is my personal preference. there is no "right" answer.
if you prefer long hair on yourself, be my guest. personally, i think it looks a little silly/ridiculous on guys (especially grown men) but to each their own. variety is the spice of life, it's a free country and all that jazz. rock on, david lee roth circa 1980

When many women see a man with long hair, the first thought that goes through their mind is "He must not have much money." And that is why most women don't like long hair. It's not rocket science. OT for a minute, but seriously, where on earth do you come up with this stuff? According to you, "most" women don't long hair because they think you must not have much money?
Honestly, that is offensive one more than one level. Offensive because it implies when a woman looks at a man she is immediately sizing up his financial status. Offensive because it implies that women are so stupid and ignorant that they would associate long hair with wealth (and while we're on it, it's also entirely illogical - what if the man with long hair was also wearing a designer lable suit, gold jewellry and she saw him shopping in some high-end designer shop? Somehow I doubt the first thought to go through her mind is going to be he doesn't have much money! Yes, an extreme example, but you get the gist. ) And lastly offensive because you attribute this stupidity, ignorance and interest in money ahead of the person to "most women". 
Now, as to the OP. Get a grip. Are you truly going to tell us that you have no preferences whatsoever when it comes to a woman's appearance? That you don't find some women far more attractive than others? That you are just not attracted to others and that you would not pursue those women for a romantic relationship?
Anyone who says that how a person looks plays no part in whether or not they would pursue a romantic relationship with them is a LIAR or in a very strong state of denial. I am not saying it is the critical factor, nor I am saying that the person has to be a perfect physical specimen, meeting an extensive physical checklist.
The physical appearance plays an inextricable role in determining whether or not we will be compatible with someone romantically and sexually. And the first impression you get of someone you meet in real life, before anything else, is about what they look like. All else follows.
I have met plenty of men who, at first sight I didn't find all that attractive or even very unattractive, who I have become very attracted to as I got to know them. And vice versa. But some physical things are more "in your face" (and theirs!  ) than others. Hair is one of them. I am yet to meet a man with long hair I was attracted to; in fact it is one of those rare things, for me, that I find a physical turn-off. And I am yet to meet a man, where if I have known him with both long and short hair, I didn't find him about 500% more attractive with short hair. I can't articulate why that is. It sure as hell wasn't anything to do with money. Other than that it just is what it is.
So OP, just deal with it. Hair is an extremely prominent feature. If you find long hair a turn-off it's much more difficult to move past than something less prominent.  | |

I don't mind long hair on men...but I don't like the balding look...
with the long skinny ponytail. That wouldn't look good on a woman either.

When the truth is all along there never was. Actually, that is a really good point. I had never thought of it like that before. I don't think there is anything *wrong* with men with long hair at all, per se. But I personally find it a physical turn-off. And I suspect that that is purely a result of unconscious social conditioning/bias.
It's not like anyone influencial said to me, "long hair - turn off", but I guess the implication is there by the response of others around you to a physical attribute. You would absorb that from a young age and then it would be part of the psyche.
I also rarely find shorter men attractive and have enormous guilty about it. I have always thought it was ridiculous of me to place any significance in the physical attractiveness stakes on height and just couldn't get my head around what was "wrong with me" to feel that way, especially since I am a short arse myself! 
But social conditioning/bias from a young age would explain that too.
Now, my question to you or anyone else is, how do you overcome that? Intellectually I think it is crazy to have such a strong reaction to hair or height. But it is incredibly hard to overcome. I have tried to "talk myself out of it" on intellectual grounds many a time. But that 'primal' instinctive reaction you have to someone on physical grounds seems insurmountable. It may be learned response, but once learned seems impossible to unlearn. For me, it is only an extreme intellectual attraction to someone (and that often takes time to develop; time I might not be willing to devote if I am just very physically turned off by them) that might 'overcome' my lack of physical attraction to them. And sometimes the shift in how I feel is really extreme.

I realize and accept that most women prefer short hair on guys, but when I have short hair I really don't like the way it looks on me. The trick is to find women who are into long haired guys...for example rock concerts or an online group for women who like long haired guys. I was in such a group briefly a few years ago and it felt very flattering to be seen as a sex object, seriously! Too bad potential flings were too far away to meet with and I was/am broke... | |

My boss, is one of the few men I have seen pull it off and make it look good. He keeps it back in a low pony tail. Looks good with a suit, which he wears daily. I guess if your classy, you could pull it off, like my boss. Most of the guys Ive seen with long hair look scroungy and unkempt. Wash it daily, trimmed every 6 weeks or so, and get it out of your eyes. | |

I dont love my hair enough to want to fool with hair nets to keep from getting my scalp torn off. I've noticed over the years that guys in more "artistic" lines of work sometimes affect long hair as a sign of their "artisticness". Then of course, any guy who wants to thought of as a "rebel" adopts the non-conformist uniform of long hair and black leather jacket. | |

I have no problem with men who have long hair. What I do have a problem with however is split ends! They drive me insane in my hair and others!
Guys are usually not known to take care of their hair if its long, but there are exceptions to that rule.
If you have it styled nice, get regular trims to keep the split ends at bay and your hair shiny and healthy, then by all means keep your long hair! | |
