| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 7/26/2009 8:33:09 AM | Detroit Lions Opening Day Roster (Projection)
QB-Dante Culpepper RB-Kevin Smith FB-Terrelle Smith WR-Calvin Johnson WR-Bryant Johnson TE-Brandon Pettigrew OT-Jeff Backus OG-Toniu Fonoti C-Domonic Raiola OG-Stephen Peterman OT-Gosder Cherilus
DE-Cliff Avril DE-Dewayne White DT-Grady Jackson DT-Andre Fluellen OLB-Julian Peterson MLB-Larry Foote OLB-Ernie Sims CB-Phillip Buchanan CB-Anthony Henry FS-Louis Delmas SS-Daniel Bullocks
This isn't as bad as I thought it would be. They should probably add Kevin Carter for a year or two to boost their pass rush. He can play both DE and DT and provide the experience needed to teach Avril how to become more effective.

I predict they go 2-14 in 2009...with wins at home over Cleveland and St. Louis...winless on the road.
My prediction is alreday wrong in week 3. I'd hate to be a Redskin fan come about now. I still think they beat the Browns and the Rams at home...making them 3-13 for the season.

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/5/2009 7:43:30 AM | | I think they willshow improvement this year. After week 4 they already have. Matt Stafford is a servicable qb, and once the O-line gives him a little time, he can post big numbers throwing to Calvin Johnson. Makes a guy formerly from Georgia feel good to promote both a bulldog AND a Yellow Jacket. | |

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/7/2009 4:53:30 AM | | I hope Stafford has a full and quick recovery. Didn't hear about Johnson's injury, but I assume and hope it wasn't as serious. Injuries suck unless you're name ends in Om Brady and you have a million new rules enacted just so you don't get tackled ever again. | |

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/8/2009 4:40:33 AM | ^^I agree with what you're saying, but not when the quarterback gets whiffed and goes crazy looking for the flag while other qbs (David Garrard) get piledriven and get no flag, and then that same qb basically gloats in the press conference after the game that the other team better not try to tackle him or else they'll get flagged. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/8/2009 6:28:00 AM | | I would not go so far as to say they're the worst franchise ever. They did go 0-16 last season, but their offense does put points on the board, and Calvin Johnson was one of the top 10 receivers in the league right now. Give the Lions a few seasons, give them better defense, they might reach the same caliber as they did when Barry Sanders was on the team. | |

What Brady said was the defense better stay away from me or a flag will be thrown.

| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/27/2009 5:50:05 PM | | So far the Rams is looking to take over were the lions left off. I really wouldn't be surprised this year if we end up having two 0-16 teams i mean the bucs are playing like crap like the Rams are. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 10/27/2009 6:46:04 PM | | Lions will beat the Rams this weekend. So far they've won one game I didn't expect, vs. WAS. I do also expect them to beat CLE. 3-13 will be their final record by my prediction, as I stated earlier. | |
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 11/1/2009 2:42:35 PM | | Wow.....they lay an egg against the Rams? I just wonder now if they will win another game. Maybe a 1-15 season this year? Doing the math, they lost 7 of their final 8 in 2007, all 16 last year and now are 1-6... they have lost 29 of their last 31 games....the worst team in the NFL since the 1982-84 Oilers lost 30 of 32. | |

The Lions still have a chance to get those '82-'84 Oilers.
Nov. 8 @ Seattle to tie. Nov. 15 @ Minnesota to break the futility record.
The only legitimate shot they have to win another game is on Nov. 22 when they host Cleveland.
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 11/3/2009 12:01:31 AM | | See now lions fans are hoping for the Bucs to go 0-16, because they would be the first team in franchise history to ever go 0-16 twice and everyone will make a much bigger deal about that then when the lions went 0-16 once, lol. | |

Tampa went winless during a 14 game schedule....their first year in the NFL.
Five previous teams finished with a winless and tieless season record, mostly during World War II: the 1934 Cincinnati Reds at 0-8, the 1942 Detroit Lions at 0-11, the 1943 Chicago Cardinals, and the 1944 Brooklyn Tigers, Chicago Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers, all 0-10.
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 11/8/2009 5:09:12 PM | Lions blew a 17-0 lead over Seattle to lose 32-20....ties the aforementioned record for futility. Next week they break it at Minnesota.
They are one of five teams to finish the first half of 2009 with a 1-7 record.
|
| Detroit Lions=Worst Football Franchise Ever Posted: 11/8/2009 8:51:22 PM | It was still a winless season in the post superbowl NFL AFL merger hense why people bring it up still today, because it counts during the modern era.
Yeah but no one looks at pre Superbowl era records anymore. It became a diff league once the NFL and AFL merged. I mean when was the last time you heard browns fans go we won a bunch of nfl titles in the 60's whooo.

Not to be nitpicky, but you said Tampa could become the first franchise to lose 16 games in a season twice.
See now lions fans are hoping for the Bucs to go 0-16, because they would be the first team in franchise history to ever go 0-16 twice
When they went winless, it was before the schedule expanded from 14 to 16 games....it's a moot point now, as Tampa beat Green Bay today.
