Pete...I tend to think you started watching football this year or are just a bit "challanged" Archie Manning has a lifetime QB rating of 67.1 this hardly puts him in the class of good let alone great or laughingly the greatest of all time. He isnt even the best quarterback in his immediate family and is probably the third best. Yes, I saw him play and he had some skills but never played on a good team and that does skew his stats but if he was the greatest of all-time it was at fathering quarterbacks not playing the position

No I never believed Jeff George was a franchise QB, in his first 4 years in the league his highest rating was a 76.3 he threw 5 more interceptions than TD's and only had one year above 60% completion. George had a cannon for an arm but could never get his head out of his ass or stop pissing off both teammates and coaches.

I excuse you though Pete, being a Saint fan you really havent seen much NFL football.

Archie Manning's most memorable play was when the Saints had the ball inside the one yard line and Archie tried the QB sneak and fumbled the ball where I think it was against the Bears and they recovered at their own 30.

The most memorable play Homo ever made was when he fumbled the snap for the go ahead FG in the playoffs. That was when people started realizing he's not a winner.

Its funny because I always liked Archie Manning, he was fun to watch. I remembered one of the last games he played, it was tough to watch. He played for the Vikings in his last year and started a game against the Bears in 1984. Well the 84 Bear defense wasnt much different than the 85 Bear defense. They sacked him 8 times and to give him credit he just stood in there and took it. He always competed and if you listen to him now in interviews he is always a class act.

I dont see how anybody can hate on Peyton Manning. A hall of famer if he stopped playing today. Eli... the jury may still be out on him but he won a SB and he is improving every year

cmd1957a,
Dude, reading is fundamental, but comprehension is preferred! Never did I say that Archie Manning was one of the greatest or the greatest QB of all time. I said to broncs, not you, that Archie was "one heck of a QB." To you, I said that "Brees ... will surpass Archie Manning as the best QB in team history." Do you understand that "team history" does not mean in the history of all teams, but is exclusive to the Saints team??? You should try being sober when you type on here.
You claim that Cutler has a skill set that puts him at a franchise QB level. Jeff George had the same skill set as Cutler, so you must believe that he was a franchise QB as well! Don't feel bad, cmd1957a, the Colts thought he was going to be their franchise QB when they drafted him. Cutler is very much like George, with the great skills set and the tendency to throw into coverage believing his arm will get the ball past the defenders.
Dude, if you actually watched and understood football, you would not rely so heavily on those QB ratings numbers you are so fond of quoting! The numbers do not tell the whole story. Archie Manning had heart and guts that will never show in any ratings system!

I would hope that Brees tops Archie's 67.1 QB rating. Dallas back up QB's Brad Johnson and John Kitna can top that rating.

He did leave both of them on the playing field.

MGM, the Saints Hall of Fame has exactly 3 QBs in it. They are Archie Manning, Billy Kilmer and Bobby Herbert. Now, which of these three is the Saints best QB in their 43 year history?

And please don't tell me Aaron Brooks!

Billy Kilmer was a Redskin most of his playing days.
Archie Manning could fill the QB position just played on a very poor team.
My answer to your question would be Bobby Herbert.

I hear that, MGM, I liked the heart that Bobby Hebert played with. I was seriously pissed when Benson wouldn't pay him when he was a free agent, and alas, just like Morton Anderson, he went to the Falcons.

Tomorrow's game is going to exciting. I truly think the Patriots defense is as good as the Broncos, which I think will shut the Bronco's offense. Orton isn't that good and I see good schemed planned out for him by Belichick. I have a feeling the Patriots offense will score a lot points, but will have a tough time doing so. I have a feeling we are going to watch the Patriots offense on the field throughout most of the game. You won't see anything spectacular from the Patriots, but they will march down the field slowly, but surely.

28-13 Patriots

Our only hope is that Moreno has a big day to keep Brady and company off the field. If we win its going to be an ugly 13-6 kinda game. It will be interesting to see how Mcdaniels plays Brady...

we came back from 10 points down last week, I dont know if we can get behind by more than 2 tds and catch up..

should be a good one though...

side note:
broncos are underdogs at home again..getting 3.5 points...

when the broncos are dogs at home they cover about 70% of the time..something to think about...

i have a bronco story it goes back 26 years:
ex cowboy qb craig morton's career with the broncos. he helped get the broncos in the playoffs 3 or 4 years in a row and a super bowl.looking back he had a better career at denver than dallas.
many would think that he was not a good qb because of his trade to the g-strings and 2 lackluster sb appearances, the other with dallas.
he was always booed at the cotton bowl and texas stadium. the '69 season he played well, with a seperated shoulder and bad knees and still managed to throw for over 2400 yards and get into the super bowl(defense). i favored him over roger staubauh becasue of his durability. now-a-days if your pinky is sore you can get off.

the sb with dallas was known as the blooper bowl, countless turnovers.

the one with denver even worse. maybe the worst perforance by a starting qb in a sb history. was is it a fact he could not play well against his ex-collagues?

after getting off to a bad start in dallas morton retired, 1983 .he lasted longer than many and my myself ever expected.

my father's most famous words pertains to any quarterback "throw it morton"
go cowboys

Denver Broncos vs Boston Patriots

If it's gonna be nasty - Air Brady has no advantage on Sunday, plus he is wearing the old Redcoat uniform the Pats used to wear in the day.

Of course Mustard Yellow and Brown only works for the University of Wyoming....

broncs, you're telling me that as a home dog, the Broncos usually cover and they are getting 3.5 on the spread? In other words, you are predicting that the Pats will win by three, right???

You mean the Bronco's defense has no advantage on Sunday.
They can't hit Brady high they can't hit Brady low, they can't put a hand on the receivers when they run their routes or the officials are going to throw a flag. With the new "Brady Rule" in effect he should pass for over 350 yards and 4 TD's.
Just hope the Bronco's offense can keep up.

No, not at all - They are getting there quick - I see Brady coughed one up in the waning minutes of regulation - Brady sucks against the Broncs unless it's in Foxboro where the Turf comes into play.

Those socks were wild though - no wonder they burned them after the 60 Season.

The Broncs need to put San Diego in their place next Monday - it's gonna be Sweet!!!

Im still gonna wait on all the haters to spin the pats game into something. We are 5-0 and beat the Pats, the Bengals(yes they are for real), and the cowboys, who I think is a horrible coached team, but Mcdaniels proved his worth as he outcoached Phillips.

I really beleive this team can compete against anybody at this point. Its a relentless team that doesnt give up. Down 10 points to the pats at half, they kept them scoreless second half, and Orton...wow...a 98 yard drive to tie it.

This team is very physical, Dawkins has been huge for us this year. Stokley has kicked Marshall in the ass, and now he is having fun.

I really like this team. Took me awhile to warm up to Mcdaniels after the Cutler mess. I said before the season the chargers would probably sweep us, but now I really think the broncos could win next monday night in san diego....

we could be 6-0 going into the bye week....

thank you mgm...

One of the worst cliches in sports...the dreaded..

"who wants it more"...ug...

If the broncos lose that means that the third string left tackle wanted the game more than Brian Dawkins....

Damm you mgm!!!!....
