I jumped on the Broncos' wagon when the 49ers wagon lost a couple wheels. They had me a little worried there for a while in tonight's game when the only TDs they scored came from special teams. Then their offense kicked in and started scoring some points. That was a good win for the Broncos to further seperate themselves from the Chargers.

Hey Bronc!?!? Cutler who? Just remember we see teams go 6-0 and fall 8-8 at the end.

Yeah I bet some of the Bronco fans that were wanting to run the new head coach out of Denver for trading Cutler for Orton feel stupid now.

I still dont know if its a good trade overall in the long run. At this point I am one of those poeple who feel VERY stupid. Mcdaniels has that team believing in everything he says.

Kyle Orton is a MVP consideration, Dummervil should get defensive player consideration, and Brian Dawkins should get defensive player of the year consideration at this point.

Bill Walsh said it best one time. He was asked one time what is a formula for winning. He responded..."A 4th quarter pass rush"...The broncos defense in the second half has been huge this year.

I wasn't impressed with Orton at all last year. Like 35% of the Bears offense went through Forte. I thought Orton was another joke of a QB. Seems as though whoever is QB for the Bears is going to struggle.

I'm still not on the Orton wagon, but I like the Broncos defense, and wouldn't mind seeing the Broncos do something without number seven.

Kyle Orton's passer rating improved with each passing season except for in 2006 when he didn't play at all.

2005 Chicago 59.7
2006 Chicago 0.0
2007 Chicago 73.9
2008 Chicago 79.6
2009 Denver 100.1

Seems to me that maturity had a big factor in the way he is playing now.

^^^^Could it be the fact that he is no longer in Chicago? That's a big ole 21 point jump there.
100.1 is an awesome passer rating. He showing that he deserves to be a starter in the NFL. 79.6 or below was showing that he desrved to be a backup.

Most of it has to do it with Josh McDaniels for sure. Just look at what he did to Cassell during last season with the Patriots....It seems to be a pattern no doubt that Josh is the be factor of Orton's development.

It could have been a mix of maturity and a mix of where he was playing at skoochie at the time as well that, played a big factor to why he was doing so good.

I watched Orton the years he was in Chicago and I have seen nothing different since his stay in Denver. His numbers last year through seven games were similiar to this year's he hurt his ankle in week 8 and didnt apppear to be 100% the rest of the year. Up until that point he completed 62 percent of his passes. He had 10 TD's and 4 Interceptions and a rating of 91.4. Kyle Orton proved last year to be a solid quarterback. His faults are lack of mobility, lack of accuracy downfield and average arm strength at best, he is more of a dink and dunk system quarterback or game manager. The Bears feel that it takes more than that to win a superbowl. McDaniels seems to believe it is more the system, which is why he coveted Cassel, only time will tell who is right.

Kyle Orton was liked here by both fans and teammates and everybody wishes him well.

The Broncos have a much better O-line and better wide-outs than the Bears. They also have the most improved defense in the NFL. I think that has more to do with their 6-0 start than their new quarterback.

I have a theory that the number one defense will make it to the Championship game; maybe not the SB, but they typically make it to the Championship.

I agree completely Skoochie. In some cases you can even win a SB with a great defense a solid runningback and a game manager type at QB. It is tough and hasnt happen too often but recent examples, 2000-01 Ravens, 2002-03 Bucs. You stand a better chance with a Brady or a Manning at QB.

IM not saying this is the ravens defense of 2000, but I have never seen a team make adjustments like the broncos do in the second half.

The broncos have given up a total of 10 points in the second half of games this year. This includes keeping Brady and Romo scoreless second half. The Chargers got af field goal on us, and it was a 51 yarder by Kaeding. It seems teams come out and find a weakness in our defense, then the broncos go in at halftime, adjust and just shut down teams.

I just cant say enough about Brian Dawkins. This is our best safety since Atwater. The guy is everywhere. I thought he would be good here, I just didnt think he would be having a MVP type year. I really dont know how Philly let this guy go. Still baffles me.

I really believe now the broncos can compete with anyone in the league. Bring on the Ravens, Giants, Steelers, and Indy. Dont look now, but the AFC champ game might be a mile above sea level...

Trent Dilfer.....he started half the games for the Ravens that year, threw one more TD than INT, 76.6 rating. The name of Jamal Lewis and Ray Lewis mean a bit more. Jamal Lewis had over 1300 yards rushing that year. Proves the point you can win it all without a stud at QB, it just doesnt happen all that often.

The Bronco defense has been extremely good and why the eagles got rid of Dawkins is a mystery. If they keep playing the way they are now I see no reason they cant make it to the championship game. They already beat the Ravens and the Pats.

I tend to believe the AFC rep will come out of Indy though. they will be talking about Peyton Manning for the next 50 years.

cmd1957a,
So how did you like Cutler's impersonation of Rex Grossman versus the Bengals?

If you saw the game Pete...which I am pretty sure you didnt you'd realize that Cutler was the least of the Bear's problems. As I said in previous posts when comparing the Bears and the Bronco's, the Bears offensive line is bad, their receivers bad, their defense bad. The Bengals scored TD's on the first 4 posessions. When Cutler played for the Broncos he was sacked 1 out of every 57 passes, with the Bears he has been sacked once out of every 19. Cutler didnt impersonate Grossman near as much as the Bears were impersonating the Browns.
