| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 4/19/2009 3:43:18 PM | Great drive from Vettel, especially after his virtuoso final qualifying session, one lap=pole nerves of steal to just bang it on pole. Thought the race was a tad dull, apart from a couple of decent crashes, when are they going to stop****ng about with the schedule. In the commentry today Brundle said that last week Ferrari said that Ross Brawn was the most arrogant man in the sport, sour grapes from Italians well I never, he was the mutts nut when he delivered back to back world championships for them, tossers!! Good to see them struggling this season long may it continue. | |
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 4/20/2009 5:25:05 AM | See the beeb F1 website and you can watch a 60 second video of Ross Brawn explaining that himself .... he knew when Ferrari resorted to personal attacks that they had nothing else , and that he would win the court case :)
Great drive from Vetel, something of a 'rainmeister' I think , pleased as Red Bull are one of my customers They have a quick car this year, and its suspension seems to be especially kind to tyres .
A sensible mature drive from JB to collect points - especially good as the only time the car had been driven in the rain was last week , so they still have a lot to learn about wet weather set up.
And weren't Renault quick (well, one of them - Piquet has to go !) now that they had the new diffuser floor flown in specially on Flav's private jet with the seats taken out - the mechanics finished fitting it at half five in the morning before Q1 .....

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 4/26/2009 8:39:42 AM | Another storming win for Button, who drove with precsion and a cool head in todays GrandPrix, surley he has given himself with a massive boost to become this years Champion. With improvements to the car coming before Barcelona, and the Brawn cars both handling expected heat problems today, the team looks strong.
Will McLaren push on from Hamiltons 4th place, and be ready to make a challenge to the front row within the next couple of races, if they dont get slung out of the Championship later on after the hearing about their actions towards the stewards in Melbourne.
Fantastic to see Ferrari continuing to struggle, puts a smile on my face to see Massa and Raikkonen looking like a mid table at best team.

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/9/2009 11:01:10 AM | Great final lap by Button in quali 3, very lucky boy to have even made that last lap.Especially seeing as he has struggled to get pace out of a low fuelled light Brawn car all weekend, Rubens has looked imperious as well.
Highlight of the day, the blonde haired Finnish grumpy gnome Kimi looking lacklustre and not even getting through Quali 1, smashing!

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/9/2009 1:01:52 PM | WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE CIRCUIT ?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last corner now appears to have a chicane just before the straight ! This is health and safetu gone tooooo far - that last turn was one of the great corners in the world, long long left hander, crucial to get it right to get the speed down the straight, second only to the long right Mallory Park lol ( I never did get that right ....!)
And now they have ruined it to "slow the cars in the cause of safety " - this is RACING for feck sake !!! We might as well all go watch drag racing - no corners at all - would that make you happy Mr Ecclestone ??!!
Grrrrrrrr | |

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE CIRCUIT
Well, given the lack of other opportunities for overtaking at Barcelona, perhaps slowing down the cars, with a new braking point to master, might make for more overtaking. Can't see this GP being too interesting, it'll be a test of the cars and not the drivers, pole will win as normal unless something majorly unfortunate happens.
Views on next year's "fuel for the race" at the start? I know they had it in the 80s, but given the increases in performance since then, does anyone see it making for more frequent pile-ups at first corners as heavy cars try to negotiate an overtaking manoeuvre and the corner at the same time?

Did Hamilton not win this yet.... Not yet... still has the motor from his helmet polisher powering his car. Think he would go faster if he used the paddock scooter instead.

Ah ha.. thanks for that.... Will I, or will you, let the team know what their problem is...?
Or are there more dedicated loving supporters available to break the news...?

Nah... sure some really anal person will come along with all the power statistics and other boring details to correct me... then send a really stern Email to McLaren mentioning that someone dared to have a dislike of their car and driver, and poke fun at it.
Oddly enough, there are people like that

I think Hamilton has already told them that ...
Holly : "Have the recent aero package parts helped with increasing the level of downforce and grip ...?" Hammy : " No. "
fERRARI .... " see my foot there ? I'm going to shoot this fecking big hole in it ... again .."
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/10/2009 7:21:02 AM | | Easy win for jenson, shame for rubens as think he deserves a fair crack of the whip. Had to laugh at massa running out of fuel and the chat on their radio lol lewis gave a funny post race interview, sounds like hes upset, maybe brawn next year? | |
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/10/2009 8:29:21 AM | I think that Rubinho DID have a fair crack of the whip, both drivers started on a three stop strategy which was considered the fastest at the start .. but after Rubens was so slow on his second set of tyres (according to Ross Brawn) they changed JB to a two stopper to cover all the bases of collecting team points
... what was my prediction about Ferrari shooting themselves in the foot ... ??
Hamilton is in strange territory for him - he has never had to race at the back of the field, ever . This is all new to him and he doesnt like it ( no race driver would) but he is trying to put a calm PR face on it all .....

... what was my prediction about Ferrari shooting themselves in the foot ... ??
Not putting enough fuel in the car, classic school boy errors seem to be coming endemic at the home of the prancing horse, had they let Vettel go earlier Massa would more than likely have been able to finish 5th, as Brundle said in the commentary. I think there will be changes again in the Ferrari hirearchy again before Monaco, how long before they put Schumacer in charge?
Great first corner Rubens got a great start to pass Jenson, but Jensons drive was clinical and controlled, not one mistake from him, after the 1st corner, solid lap times on heavy fuel and the prime tyre, looking every inch the Champion in waiting. If the Brawn team can just keep improving throughout the season, and stay one step ahead it could all be so glorious.
As for the no re-feulling next season I cant see it making racing more exciting, I reckon we will just have a more strung out feild, with accidents being the main reason for place gains on race day. I like the current format, and I think its onee of the best seasons for a long time in terms of overtaking and good racing, stop****ng about with F1 Mosely and Bernie its working.

OMG jats get on the psychic link or was it the physics link (fuel to weight ratio plus dodgy diffuser) ?
Am going to message Jats privately so he can predict a few things for my future
I like the pink cars that got all broken

| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/10/2009 1:37:51 PM | | Jenson raced at the back for over two years and just got on with it. Hamilton's post race interview merely compounded why I dislike the guy (although bloody talented). Whine, whine. Rubbish car. I was told to lie. Boo hoo. As DC noted, it was very strange. It made me laugh when the question was put to Hamilton him whether he was bothered about being lapped by Button. Ouch. Top race although I wish I'd been in Catalunya to watch it... | |
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/10/2009 1:57:08 PM | | I think jenson would have won it even if he'd stuck to a three stopper, he was much better on the hard tyres than rubens who when on the harder compound was struggling to keep mark webber behind him toward the end of the race, i do feel for him though he really deserves at least a win. | |
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/11/2009 12:05:51 PM | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In all honesty I think Rubens was out driven by Button.
Button two stopping so should of had heavier car for longer during the race, and its should off taken more out his tires as they would off been on for longer, than Rubens who had a lighter car and better tires. Button managed cosistent fast laptimes all through the race.
Rubens is just putting a marker down Brawn expected him to win that race, once he had got past Button on the first lap, it would be benefical to have two drivers competing for the Championship as Brawn are trying to attract sponsors, and retain the Mercedes engine for next season. Two drivers ahead of the rest of the feild would be much better for Brawn Team, and Ross Brawn would know that, he was clearly confused as to why Rubens didnt win. I think Rubens got the hump half way through the race and lost concentration once he heard Buttons strategy had changed, throwing his toys out the pram, cus he was outdriven.
|
| Grand prix 09 thread Posted: 5/11/2009 12:18:38 PM | slutfink ... some teams have equal #1 status drivers, some teams have designated number 1 and number 2 drivers .. like Red Bull - Webber is #1 Vetel is # 2 (although Vetel is out performing Webber by some margin ... )
JB is a much smoother driver than anyone else on the grid , so he is much kinder to his tyres , thats why he went better on the hard tyres, on heavier fuel .
His Dad was always ragged in the rallycross car though ....
